AoM Archery Phase 1 - Hunting the fearsome swamp chicken
kabel replied to nivremis's topic in Guilds of Historica
The rowdy swamp chicke, this is so funny! - One minor criticism, make sure to edit those dark edges we can see in the second picture! -
Thanks man, now I get it!
-
Gideon, you've definetely become one of my all time favourite builders!
-
Gideon, I've been breaking my head for several days now about how you did the roof ridge on the great hall. I wonder if you were willing to reveal how you acomplished this ...
-
Thanks man, I actually take a lot of inspiration from my hometown, although I don't see it as often as I'd like to although I only live 1,5 hours away from it ...
-
I actually like the general design of your house. Some really nice features are included. Another thing besides the window that I'd change would be the uniformity of your grey. Currently it looks more like concrete rather than stones. I usually mix light and dark bley plates to achieve the effect. BTW, here is something I created when I ran out of castle windows: Actually, most medieval windows were rather square instead of arched as can be seen in this image, the oldest house of my hometown (ca. 1400):

Amazing moc once again! I always love to see so many minifigs, it keeps me watching for hours. The landscaping is pretty nice too! The only complaint I would have is that your greek names for your build actually sound rather kaliphlin, than Mitgardian. However, that's only a minor issue.
-
Which is exactly what I would call archtypcial Mitgardian!

Thanks mate. The stone and the dark green are actually one house though, with the dark green being the living quarters and the stone part the Kontor.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

finally got the fourth waterfront module of Thorshaven done: -
Now that is a Mitgardian castle! I really like how you have enhanced your normal grey sk type castle with this wooden section. It's absolutely outstanding!

Alright, it was a popular request that I show more of module four. So I went out to see which unessecary sets contain dark greeen slopes so I could finally finish this module that has been sitting on my desk for nearly half a year now. And voila, public pressure helped to finally get this thing done: Module IV: Rich merchant house and Kaliphlin Kontor close up shot of the front row: In case you were wondering why some of the water was green and had studs sticking out, module IV + Rose of Asgarda. Giving the Rose of Asgard a harbor was actually the incentive which started this whole Thorshaven project. And not I can't stop building on this city! Please excuse the picture quality, but light was really terrible today and I just wanted to get this done anyway.

maybe we should continue the trash talk here, after all Nocturnus is so poor they can't even afford to post in their own forum! -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

But why on earth would we then try to burn stinky oil imported from Kaliphlin and sold to us for an unreasonbably hight price, if we could just go outside our backyard and cut the one or other log that makes a nice and warm fire in the Mitgardian hearth? All we need from you is the occasional barrel of wine and the one or other spice to enrich the flavor of our oustanding cusine! -

you insult Lena, you insult our finest Lady, daughter of our beloved leader Elon Chorian, you insult all of Mitgardia! -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

So it's that oil question again. Guess what, the little oil we import from Kaliphlin is something we might as well get from hunting the one or the other whale in our waters! -
I'd say, leave the castle as it is on the inside and add to the outside, like would be done in a normal castle, this one of my hometown for instance: got enlarged every hundred years or so within its 800 years of existance, so from the above it looks like this: as you can see, ring after ring was added to the original structure in the center

That's because I minored in Political Science and not History. But I'm sure you Historians know how to do this too
-
True Mitgardians warm themselves on a block of ice and shiver because they are mad it's not cold enough! And speaking of trade, I'm sure you're not willing to let got of that nice Mitgardian ale and how in the world are you going to grow you boastful Kaliphlin cities without Mitgardian timber? I learned (and tought) proper quoting at the University of Washington Paratrea, so technically the quote is totally alright

so they call peace loving Steen Larsson a war monger and trouble maker. What you guys haven't understood yet is that reaction usually follows action. Check these out: Guess you guys now understand why we couldn't sit back and observe all this aggression anymore!
-
wow, there is so much historical accuracy in this moc, it's hard to believe we're still talking Lego here! I definetely admire the whole thing quite a bit! (actually I like everything you build despite you being just another sneaky Kaliphlin )
-
Nice scene and perfectly alright for a phase I moc. However, in you next installment a little more variation in colors (maybe the one or the other odd plant) would be great!

Pretty nice for a first one, guess I'm gonna have to get one of these hats as well, they seem to be the new Mitgardian fashion!
-
Great landscaping, great figs and a great "cliffhanger!" (sorry couldn't resist that pun) Anyway, can't wait to see the second installment!
