Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

You use a technic half pin. It only works on the older R2 figs. Newer ones have grooves and the pin won't fit all the way in. -
Good times. There's still a few other pirate dioramas from the early 90's that are missing that were pretty good. The one where Redbeard is tied up on the Imperial Trading Post comes to mind.

Like a few others who have already posted, I really don't collect themes, more so just sets that are cool. Some themes do tend to have sets that I consider cooler than others, so I will buy more sets from that theme. But I rarely buy every set in a theme. Here's my Brickset breakdown for all themes. It's fairly easy to tell which themes have sets that I like the best. :) Adventurers (8 sets) Alpha Team (2 sets) Aquazone (20 sets) Atlantis (4 sets) Basic (8 sets) Belville (1 set) Bonus/Value Pack (4 sets) Books (2 sets) Bricks and More (1 set) Castle (41 sets) Classic (8 sets) Gear (2 sets) Harry Potter (13 sets) Island Xtreme Stunts (1 set) Key Chains (8 sets) LEGO Writing System (2 sets) Magnets (3 sets) Make and Create (1 set) Mindstorms (1 set) Orient Expedition (1 set) Pirates (49 sets) Rock Raiders (1 set) Service Packs (5 sets) Space (46 sets) Spider-Man (2 sets) SpongeBob SquarePants (2 sets) Sports (1 set) Star Wars (136 sets) Studios (2 sets) Time Cruisers (2 sets) Town (43 sets) Toy Story (2 sets) Trains (1 set) Video Games (2 sets) Western (11 sets)

I'm not seeing it. I really doubt we'll get a female pilot though. As has already been stated, very few females (I can't recall any ATM) played any sort of role for the empire in any of the films. This is just one picture and not a super clear one at that. If you read through the 2010 rumors thread you'll see a lot of speculation floated around based on single grainy pictures that did not turn out to be true. Sometimes people just see what they wanna see.

I bought a sealed 7665 Republic Cruiser last November off of ebay and it had the Obi-Wan head. I figured it was unlikely, being that the set had already been discontinued for about a year, but I emailed TLC Customer Service and asked if they had any Qui-Gon heads and they did and sent one to me. It's worth a shot to try it, IMO. I just bought another clone pilot for my ARC-170 and when I put him in I noticed that the stickers for the computer displays were peeling (the rest of the stickers for the set are fine though). I've had a couple other sets with stickers that peeled (some horribly) but I can't figure out any pattern to them. Just some stickers are bad batches I guess. I've noticed this too. I was very careful putting my AT-AT together though, so aside from this mine walks fine. It's a very intricate set with a ton of moving parts, so if something was misplaced or connected incorrectly, I could definitely see how it could cause the walker to have trouble. Mine actually walks better on solid floors rather than carpet though. -
It always bothered me a little that this was the largest 'fort' the armada faction got. "We've secured the treasure from the pirates, now lets sail the flagship back and dock (not that it even could) at our little one room shack that the Renegade Runner could overtake in 5 minutes." Good set though and the green doors were much appreciated. Not nearly enough sets were released with the Spanish armada men, IMO.

Does using toothpaste scratch the plastic? -
I agree, the Y-wing and Landspeeder especially would be easy to recreate just taking a quick glance at the pictures. The Millennium Falcon would be trickier to duplicate, but being covered with the round dishes, any inconsistencies wouldn't be at all detectable.

Did the set really sell out fast? I seem to recall the set being particularly unpopular when it was available for retail (the dining room is not connected to the carbon freezing chamber and there's no ships to put on the landing pad being two of the primary complaints). I always thought it was so popular now because very few people bought it back then and now regret it because the set had limited production which drove the price up significantly.

Looks great! Now if we could just get Lego to give us a General Veers with the correct rank insignia...

I hate the CW faces too, so I must say well done! It's a very nice vig.

Interesting rumors so far. I'm very disappointed in the battle pack selection, Clones (for the third time) and Mandalorians are a waste, IMO. Don't know much about the gunship or the Jedi shuttle, I'm guessing they'll probably be based on the cartoon and as I don't watch it, I don't know what those are based on or which characters will be included. The V-Wing and Battle of Naboo could be good, but as others have echoed, at this point we just don't know enough about the sets to know just how they'll stack up. I'm looking forward to the information we get over the next few months.

TLG's is the better of the two, but both figures are pretty ugly, IMO. If Lego made a non CW version of Aayla, similar to the one of Barriss, that would blow both of these figs away.
-
Not exactly, GG fighter, Plo Koon's fighter and, get this, the AT-AT are listed under CW. This just confirms the suspicion that Lego's classification of sets as either CW or Classic is worthless.

Unfortunately it happens. I used to work inside of a USPS distribution plant in the United States and they process so much mail, it doesn't matter how careful the people who handle your package are, it still spends a lot of time tumbling over other boxes on conveyor belts. That's just how it goes and I imagine that post offices in other countries work much in the same way. The best way to avoid crushed corners is to find boxes just barely bigger than the Lego box so you can fit in a little padding and have little to no shifting within the box. However, you obviously can't control how a company like TRU packages their shipments and it appears that they use boxes way larger than necessary.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

I agree, however money rules and I suspect a POTC license will bring in a lot of money. I will not be buying one POTC set, but I get the feeling I'll be in the minority there. -
Got a 5974 Galactic Enforcer on clearance at Wal-Mart today for $50. Not sure if Wal-Marts everywhere are doing this or not, but it's worth a check because they had quite a few sets at 50% off including a couple of the January 2010 Star Wars sets (Droid Tri-Fighter and Freeco Speeder). They must be making room for the summer sets.
-
Unfortunately not yet. I just bought it, I still have to wait for it to get shipped here. Soon though, I can hardly wait!

Funny you have to take solace in the USA losing because you know England is going nowhere. It's always hilarious to watch the English media completely overhype their team every world cup just to watch them fall flat on their face. The really sad part though, is that the English people soak it up and actually think England does have a chance.

I bought a MISB 7419 Dragon Fortress. Expensive, but IMO totally worth it. I can't believe I let this one go when it was still available.

I've gotta disagree with you here. Roughly between 2004 and 2008, Lego had the best pricing on their sets that they've ever had when it comes to price per part ratio. The prices during this time were outstanding. People throw around the 10 cent per piece ratio quite a bit, but historically Lego has been more expensive than that. It was only during those roughly 5 years where you actually could consistently get 10 pieces for a dollar or even better in some cases.

I agree. I know they are trying to capture the look of the female figure more accurately, but still it just looks a little off. That aside the figures are very nicely done. Thanks for the review.
