Top 10 Star Wars minifig favourites
Destroydacre replied to Commander Assassin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'll give it a shot 10 - Shadow Trooper 9 - Shock Trooper 8 - Snow Trooper 7 - Blue Super Battle Droid 6 - AOTC Clone Trooper 5 - Grand Moff Tarkin 4 - Royal Guards 3 - AT-AT Driver 2 - Cloud City Boba Fett 1 - Cloud City Lando Honorable Mention: Count Dooku (episode 2), Kit Fisto, RGS Jedi, Lobot, Tusken Raider I have a feeling some of the Home One figs would have made this list, but I don't have that set yet, so I can't put them on. I personally can't stand the CW minifigs. -
Review 7656 General Grievous´ Starfighter
Destroydacre replied to Navy Trooper Fenson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This set was released in 2007, and the Clone Wars line didn't launch until 2008, which would explain why this was not designated as a CW set. Very nice review. I picked two of these up just to get a couple more Grievouses and to up my lightsaber count. Unfortunately I didn't really pay attention and didn't realize until after I opened one that the lightsabers weren't chrome. I wasn't too pleased about that. The second is still MISB somewhere around here. A decent ship, but most people would get this for Grievious, I think. -
Now taking YOUR ideas for the future of LEGO Pirates theme
Destroydacre replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd prefer to see another year of redcoat sets before bluecoats get re-introduced. A larger addition to the Solidier's Fort which when added would give you something similar to the Imperial Trading Post would be nice as would a redcoat ship. A lot of people would like one that is just as large as the pirate ships and I would prefer that as well, but I would be happy if they made a $50 mid sized ship too. Any redcoat ship would be better than none. I also wouldn't mind something like the service packs that Lego had throughout the 90's. Give us an admiral's hat, some shakos, muskets, pistols, cutlasses, epaulets, coins and a treasure chest, etc, a lot of accessories. That would be very cool. -
Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
Destroydacre replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I didn't see any of the exclusives from Cloud City, Boba Fett, Leia or Luke either, but these could easily be in the 10 new figures that legolandia is acquiring. Either way, that's an awesome display for your figs! -
I know these have been mentioned already in this thread, but seeing as it's so long I thought I'd list these again. A UCS Droid Control Ship A SPHA (this would probably have to be a UCS set as well, but I wouldn't mind if it wasn't to scale and included minifigs) If Lego made either one of those, I'd be ecstatic.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If you purchase all the Islander sets, you get a ton of Kahukas compared to the regular Islanders. I liked this set, but it seems kind of redundant when you compare it to King Kahuka's throne. The premise behind both sets was basically the same (a throne for King Kahuka) but the latter came with servants and pirates to attack. Still this set was good in its own right and it's always appreciated getting gold pieces in a $4 set. Thanks for another good review!

This was one of my favorite pirate sets that came out during the Spanish armada era. I like this much better than the shipwreck island despite the fact it's only about a third of the size. My skelly from that set has a lot of dings in him from being launched so many times! Excellent review of a very good set. Your alternate model is very nice as well.

All the pirates I own from the new line with that torso are dark green. I'm sure the light green ones are just an error on Lego's part. The quality of the print on the light green torsos just doesn't look as good as the dark green ones, imo.

They sure did, although I didn't mind the lul figures that much. But that was probably because most of them were already available as regular figures. I'd still like to see Lego officially release a non lul Luminara. Somewhat off topic, I was surprised to test all my luls and see that they still all light up. I figured the batteries would be dead after 4 years.

I'd give Shipwreck Hideout and Kraken Attackin' the nod over Forbidden Island and Castaway's Raft, myself. I personally love all 4 sets, but I think both made signifcant improvements over the previous versions. I'm a big fan of the crow's nest on top of the raft and the cabin remains in Shipwreck Hideout. As for BSB and Eldorado Fortress, they blow away the BB and Soldier's Fort, imo. Now the fort may have some additions in the future that help bring it up to par with the Eldorado Fortress, but as of now, it falls way short. The BB looks very nice (the exterior gives the BSB a run for its money), but the lack of interior detail drops it well below the BSB. All the other sets are similar enough in comparison that I really couldn't say any were far superior to their counterparts.

Sounds good. You guys will have to forgive my shameless use of Star Wars lines.

Am I looking at the wrong time on here? According to the clock I have, I still have 14 minutes to get my MOC up as of this post. Oh well it's not a big deal, my pictures have been uploaded to Brickshelf, so as soon as it's our turn again, I'll be able to post them quickly. Good job with your vig!

This is my first stab at a review. Any and all comments and criticisms (constructive of course ) are welcome! Unfortunately, the box has been stored away in my attic for years and I'm not going up there to look for it. Here's a picture of the instructions. These didn't turn out too well, I may scan instruction pages in future reviews. The first page: Random page: The figs. I believe this set and the original RGS (7163) were the only 2 sets that had the AOTC clone troopers: The AT-TE in all her glory (with no changes to the original set, you can see a lot of the blue pieces used to build the interior): From above, unfortunately, those pieces aren't printed, they're stickers: The top section of the walker lifts off to reveal a cramped interior. There is room to seat all four clone trooper and room for their 'guns,' but little else: The rear section of the walker: This section lifts up to reveal a storage spot for one of the generic speeders. This one, unlike most however, is framed in dark red. It looks really nice. The seated section for the clones is also removable A look at the front of the AT-TE The front part of the walker opens revealing access to the control room of the AT-TE The side sections of the AT-TE are connection by lone technic pins Inverted slopes and those triangular slope pieces are used to hold these sections in place Unfortunately this leaves part of the AT-TE open when viewed from certain angles. It doesn't take much modding to fix these holes though. A view of the center leg which can be moved: A view of one of the rear legs (the rear and front legs are built in the same manner): Overall this set looks pretty good and was fun to build. It does have it's flaws as I pointed out, but some of the fun is figuring out how to fix these and make the AT-TE even better. Out of all the clone figures that Lego has come out with the AOTC ones are my favorites. It's a shame they made so few of them. For around $70 this set was a pretty good deal and $20 cheaper than the new one, albeit the figures are much less diverse. I give this set a solid 8.5/10

Adding up just the sets from Brickset comes out to 82,020 pieces (for 385 sets) and 1,072 minifigs. If you include the other minifigs and pieces that I've acquired throughout the years in addition to the sets that Brickset does not have piece counts for, I would estimate the total numbers would be about 100,000 pieces and 1,150 minifigs. Not a bad collection.

Screaming Patriot I love that set name! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6646-1

Obviously things can change, but based on the current box art, that appears to be a sawfish, not a swordfish and it's the same size as the old shark pieces. The sawfish would not be a new piece, they released a few with the divers line back in the late 90's. The only difference would be that the new sawfish would be in bley instead of grey. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/x98

An old catalog that I have from the late 80's recommends keeping Lego pieces under 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Freezing the Lego fig is a very creative idea and it looks like it turned out nicely too. I wouldn't imagine that freezing a figure would do much damage. I'd be more interested to see how the figure was after it thawed, i.e. is it more brittle etc.
