  1. The USA-Canada game was one of the most Amazing hockey games I've ever seen. Congrats to Canada for the gold, and I am extremely proud of how well the American team played in this tournament!
  2. I wouldn't but then again, I've always maintained that I hate the CW figs. A lot of people don't like the Venator, but I actually don't think it looks to bad. It may not be the best replica Lego has ever made, but I'd display it next to my system Star Destroyer. It does have quite a few good pieces that you could use for other things if you wanted. I say if you're going to buy all the figs anyway, you may as well just buy the set new. That way you know you're getting factory fresh figures and then you have a ton of pieces you can use for other things if you don't want to build the Venator.
  3. I purchased a Tantive at the beginning of February and it had the smooth hair, so either Lego has not shipped out their entire first production run of the Tantive or this smooth hair piece is still being made. Either way, it's not too terribly difficult to obtain, it's just only available in an expensive set.
  4. Nice review! This is one of the best sets Lego has ever made, IMO and one of the favorites in my collection.
  5. It's gotta be the Corellian Corvette for me. It's an amazing model. And it was made back when blocky models were still the norm, but Lego would be in tough to try and improve it now. But having said that, you really can't go wrong with any of Lego's UCS sets. My second favorite would probably be the Chicken Walker.
  6. You're right, with persistence I was finally able to track one down at a local Wal-Mart (they only had 3 left). The next day they were gone again and I haven't seen any since. They go fast once they are stocked. I'm beginning to believe that it is a Wal-Mart exclusive as well. It's got the Special Edition marking on it and I haven't seen it in any other store. I was even at the nearby TRU earlier today and they had every new set (including loads of Swamp Speeders) but no Landspeeders and no spot for them.
  7. Am I really the only one that thinks that plain white Boba Fett looks terrible? I'll stick to the colored ones.
  8. Agreed, it'll be a shame if that's actually the version that's released.
  9. I wouldn't say any Lego set that I've built (over 400) has ever been hard, but there were some that weren't very interesting. The UCS Star Destroyer and Death Star II were both fairly boring, although the completed models are wonderful to look at. I didn't think the walking AT-AT was too bad, but sometimes those axles don't want to slide into their slots. My thumbs get kind of sore after a little while pushing on them over and over. I thought I'd be the first to mention the Hailfire Droid, but Pi beat me to it. I do remember that one taking quite awhile for only a 600 piece set or whatever it was. I can't think of any other sets at the moment that were particularly difficult.
  10. I almost wonder with the commonality that this appears to be happening if it's really customers that are stealing the figs and returning the sets or if this is being done before the sets reach the shelves, either by retail store employees, or I hate to say it, possibly even Lego employees.
  11. I've noticed the spot for the Landspeeder also at the 2 Wal-Marts here, even though it's always empty. They have all the other sets in stock though, so I wonder if they sold all the Landspeeders or if they just have a spot for it, but haven't actually gotten any in yet.
  12. I think a Lego 3 eyed Gran is long overdue, whether it be this guy or someone else. To be honest, I'm still waiting for Lego to make a Mawhonic so my Watto's Junkyard set will finally be 'complete.'
  13. Even then we all may have a hard time leaving some sets out. Lego has made so many great models.
  14. But how many times was the word Mandalorian uttered in any of the 6 films? If memory serves the correct answer is 0. No casual Star Wars fan knows that Jango is a Mandalorian and even some of the more hardcore fans probably don't know it either. I had never even heard the term until I played KOTOR. This is why doing Endor battle packs makes so much more sense. Even the most casual Star Wars fan knows about biker scouts and ewoks/rebel commandos.
  15. You think so? I don't think a Mandalorian battle pack would sell that well honestly. And what would be the opposing battle pack in this case? Who knows what Lego is actually going to make, but Rebel Endor Commandos and Imperial Scout Trooper battle packs would sell much better IMO. Those are much more familiar characters than Mandalorians.
  16. Yes it's the same one that was released in 2008. It's much better than the previous system Advanced Ties Lego has released, I would recommend getting it. It really doesn't do a whole lot, it has a couple of the flick fire missiles, but there is a spot underneath the back for holding Vader's lightsaber while he's piloting the vessel. This set was available late in 2008, although it is categorized as a 2009 set. There were actually two previous system versions released, one was available several times between 1999 and 2004 (7150, 7152, 7262). The other was available in the 10131 Tie Collection. I would have to disagree considering the one he's talking about was at Target for $30.
  17. I partially agree, but if they were just going to release him in the Wampa Cave set, then I would have preferred that the pilot in the BP was just a generic pilot and not Zev. It's not horrible, but I really don't understand Lego's thought process behind that decision.
  18. Same here, I've never had any problems with this either. I would imagine that long exposure to hot temperatures would probably cause some damage, but a quick wash shouldn't deform the bricks. One of the old Lego catalogs I have says not to use water greater than 110 degrees Fahrenheit which is roughly 40 centigrade. That matches a figure listed earlier in this thread. I've also found that ironing sails after washing them is a good way to dry them out so mildew doesn't form.
  19. Although they serve different purposes, I always liked this one better than Eldorado as well. One of my all time favorite sets, I practically begged for this set as a kid but never got it. Thank goodness for eBay, I was able to add this set to my collection a few years ago. One of the best sets Lego has ever produced, IMO and I added a few extra barrels and treasure chests to add even more of a trading and commerce feeling to the set. Thank you very much for the review funkybrick!
  20. Fantastic selection of sets, Sir Dillon! I was able to add the Guarded Inn and Black Falcon's Fortress sets to my collection via the legends line and fortunately when I was little my parents were generous enough to purchase the Royal Knight's Castle and Black Knight's Castle for me. All 4 of these are some of the jewels of my Lego collection and I always make sure to show them off when I have visitors. Again, great list!
  21. When I was a kid, I'd always put them in the backpacks on my Imperial Soldiers. They fit perfectly!
  22. I was shocked that the Hawks fired Mora after only one season although I can't say I was upset. I didn't like Mora's coaching style. Pete Carroll though, wow. He's not the guy I would have chosen, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Next year should be very interesting!
  23. No, thankfully the ones I got are fine too. It has been a fairly common problem though as others have said, and why they are fine in some sets and not in others, I have no idea.
  24. I'll put my name down as a candidate. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
  25. The sails on the SES are nice and the ones on the Caribbean Clipper are damn near pristine. It always amazes me how crumpled the sails are on most of the ships sold on eBay.
