Which theme/subtheme did you miss and regret?
Destroydacre replied to BeKindRewind's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Never had a so called "dark age" but for a couple years I was at college I had to restrict myself to Star Wars only, so the only theme since 1988 that I wanted sets from but didn't get any was the 2007 Aqua Raiders, specifically the underwater base. Still keeping my eye out for one though. It's not particularly expensive, you can still find MISB sets that go for about retail price on ebay, they just don't show up very often. -
The TIE/sh and TIE Boarding Craft both look pretty much the same, and I don't think you could go wrong with calling it either one. Captain Needa used a TIE/sh in Empire to go from the Avenger to the Executor (where Vader eventually kills him). Very nice models Rocken, keep up the good work!

Walmart had the 8028 mini tie-fighter and 30051 mini x-wing around Easter so I picked up a couple of those. I was very surprised to see them, it was completely unexpected. Before that I picked up Battle of Naboo and Imperial V-Wing last December. Just waiting for the summer sets to come out now. Still a few months away.

The stickers for the 7915 are notoriously bad. I know there's been at least one thread on here complaining about it, and on my V-Wing, the stickers have almost completely peeled off the ship (the stickers were already starting to peel off the sheet in the box).

Anyone notice the crappy Photoshop Lego did of the forward fin on the right wing on the box? I always thought the picture was off and after looking at it for a few minutes I noticed it. It doesn't match up at all.

SALE: 6274 Caribbean Clipper MISB
Destroydacre replied to Fede78's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
When I first saw this I was thinking I'd offer $400 for it, but wow I had no idea. You're right though, someone will put forward the money for it. It's awfully pretty isn't it? -
I've been waiting 8 years for Lego to release a set that would fit right in next to the UCS ISD. Now they finally have. I can't wait for this set to be released!

6416 Poolside Paradise has one in the kitchen.
-
That's my criteria as well. If it comes with the detail sticker it's UCS otherwise it's not. Won't work for everyone, but for me it keeps things simple.

The advent calender is extremely disappointing. Not only are the ships poorly made, but only 5 figs? And most of them are CW at that. Will it even have 100 pieces? I'll pass.
-
I'm hoping not, there's several figures that still need some fixes IMO. But it's impossible to tell, until we hear otherwise I think we have to assume that these are not preliminary images. With that in mind, on the whole I have to say I'm kind of disappointed. A lot of the figures here had the potential to be so much better.

Review: 7915 Imperial V-wing Starfighter
Destroydacre replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, the sticker sheet in my V-Wing had the same problem and here it's the middle of winter. Bad batch of stickers would be my guess. Yes, the helmet is open. -
It still baffles my mind how expensive this set has gotten. Just the Boba Fett and Lando figs alone will set you back over $150. This was a set that sat on shelves for months and got terrible reviews. Lego couldn't give it away. Now a used complete set goes for over $400. Crazy.

Problems with a certain piece
Destroydacre replied to legomaniac83's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lego is usually pretty good at sending out replacements as long as you let them know what happened. It sounds like they know about the poor quality of this part and from what I've heard the translucent plastic that Lego uses can be very brittle. I don't know if that was a factor here, but it wouldn't surprise me. According to Peeron this piece was still in production in 2008 so I'd contact TLC and see if you can get some replacements. -
Very sad, 27 is far, far too young. I never met Dieter or conversed with him online, but it is very obvious how much of an impact he had on the lives of so many people. The Lego community lost a good leader and the world lost a good person. R.I.P. Dieter.

I'm pretty sure too that last year the one with the Swamp Speeder was more expensive than if you bought all 3 sets individually. And I thought buying in bulk was supposed to save money. I've honestly never seen any of the super packs in person and I don't even have a clue where to get them retail. So they don't matter much to me either. They sure are expensive on bricklink though, WOW!

All the PT sets have always been listed under classic so Battle of Naboo is listed where all the other EP I sets always have been. Not that there's been very many lately. Battle of Geonosis will probably be moved to the CW section eventually. When the summer 2010 sets first came out, they listed the AT-AT in the CW section for about a month.

Sadly I'd have to agree. Orange jumpsuit Luke, just what we needed.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Destroydacre replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd agree that this is the most important issue for most Lego fans. I don't mind the specialty pieces being made in China. The Ewoks, Bossk's head, 2-1B, the Atlantis rings, etc. Those are fine. But I wouldn't want every 1x2 brick made using the China plastic. I'd worry quite a bit about the quality and the clutch power of these bricks. Hopefully it's a change that never happens. I will say that the quality of the figs made in China does seem to have improved more recently over the original figs that were produced in China, however the China figs still are not of equal quality. I've seen a comparison of the Darth Maul figs, one from the infiltrator and the other from the magnet set and the difference is very noticeable. While the Maul head print from the infiltrator has a deep red color, the Maul from the magnet set looks like some kind of shade of fuchsia. That's the kind of thing that I don't want to ever see in a regular set. -
If you were a kid growing up and you didn't have bricks scattered across the floor then you didn't own any Lego. It comes with the territory. Thankfully my parents realized this and did not glue my sets or creations together.

I'm not saying it's right to everyone, just to the individual. And you're right it does stem from ignorance (however I will say that I don't fault anyone who doesn't know that Lego doesn't want the term "legos" being used). My point is that's how things work and unless Lego does a huge marketing campaign saying "Don't call our product 'legos'" then the term is going to continue to be used. My point was never that the term "legos" is correct.

It was a little fragile, but I thought SP Central was an amazing set. I love the break room and the garage. The sniffer frog was pretty funny and the radio tower was a nice touch. Jawson is an incredible figure. I can't believe that the final SP sets were only available from S@H for half a year. Much shorter life than most Lego sets. I wonder if that'll jack up the secondary market prices on those a few years down the road.

Great review! I'm really looking forward to the Space Shuttle so it's nice to see that these sets are starting to show up. Hopefully they'll hit the States soon. If I'm not mistaken, the space suit piece is the same that they used in the Atlantis theme. It works for me, I think the design is pretty cool.
