  1. The worst part for me is that, as it stands right now, it appears you can't put a hood on Maul. I just don't think he looks right without one.
  2. The difference is your examples are common nouns which are things that most people learned how to speak growing up. You were taught that the plural of chalk is chalk. No one taught you about the "correct" plural for trademarked names like Lego or Chevrolet which is where the ambiguity comes in. Since it's not something that's taught, people are going to create their own plural form based on what sounds right to them. The plural form may be wrong officially according to whomever owns the trademark, but it's not wrong to the individual who came up with it.
  3. It's the same thing here. I don't know if there's actually any legal ramifications, but if you go to a restaurant that serves Pepsi and ask for a Coke, they'll ask if Pepsi is OK. As for the whole Lego vs. Legos thing, I'm actually pretty surprised that so many people are annoyed by that. Call it Lego or Legos if you want, it makes absolutely zero difference to me. Everyone knows what you're talking about. I can understand why TLC would have a desire for there to be no 's' on the end of Lego, but for the individual person it really doesn't make any difference that I can see.
  4. The blue bag version of 30005 most certainly exists because I have one. I got it at TRU they were selling them there before Christmas in the United States. I honestly don't know if the other promos have blue bag versions as well or where these sets are available in other countries.
  5. Yeah like September 2009. I'd be willing to bet this set will probably last through Christmas, but if you can get it you might as well and not take any chances.
  6. I'm most concerned with the infrastructure of Qatar during the World Cup. I'm not sure if they'll have the facilities necessary to sustain the influx of people that are going to visit during the month long event. We're talking about a country that has less than two million people in it and is smaller than the state of Connecticut. Can Qatar handle bringing in 32 soccer teams and all their fans? I'm not sure. As for the alcohol clothing laws, I'd imagine that they'll lift those within the confines of each soccer stadium during every game. Or maybe even within say 500 meters of the stadium during game time. Those shouldn't be a problem.
  7. It's just a prelim pic, Lego grabs whatever is available for those. If we really do get a new Padme fig (still having my doubts) there would be a new torso design.
  8. I get the feeling that a lot of the people predicting a new Padme fig in the Sith Infiltrator set are going to be sorely disappointed. We'll see, but I won't get my hopes up until I see a non-blurry, non-prelim pic that has her in it. I don't think it's gonna happen. Good amount of sets for the PT/OT fans though, no complaints here. It's hard to tell if the Falcon is ANH or ESB. It looks like there's an elderly Obi-wan though. If that's the case and the other figs are Luke, Han and Chewie that would mean there's no R2 or 3PO. Kind of odd. But who knows the figures could be completely overhauled by the time the set is actually released. I'm looking forward to seeing better pictures!
  9. I found all the new Star Wars sets except for the exclusives and the Jedi Shuttle at a Fred Meyer today. This is the second year in a row this store has had the January releases the week before Christmas, which is pretty cool. Looks like the new sets are starting to show up.
  10. I agree. CW figs were bad enough already, but these new figs are absolutely hideous. Lego did a very nice job with the gungans though. Looking forward to getting that set.
  11. I'd go with the newest AT-AT. I was pretty disappointed when I saw the original pictures of it, but once I put it together and saw it in person, I actually thought it looked really nice. Still a tad small, but overall the set is much better than I expected. I also agree with the thought process though that no Lego set is bad, because the set can be modded or taken apart and used for other things.
  12. For me it's not a big deal because the magnet minifigs were molded using the China plastic, but I know this is a big blow to quite a few collectors. I think this is gonna be the death of the magnet collections. What reason is there for anyone to buy these now?
  13. I can't really say that I'm sick of the CW Legos per se. I pretty much ignore them, the main reason being the figures are just so hideous. IMO they look nothing like the cartoon characters who themselves are horrible renditions of real people. As for the cartoon, well I ignore that too. All the ret-cons and stuff they're throwing in seemingly out of nowhere just doesn't appeal to me so I don't watch it. For me it's like it never happened so it all works out. It's kind of disappointing that the CW sets are taking over and driving away the PT/OT sets (yes I do collect the PT sets). TBQH I'm really shocked that the CW sets sell so well, I never would have guessed that they'd be more popular than OT sets. But they must be right? Or else there would be more OT sets. But in the end for me I can't complain too much because each CW set that's made in lieu of a PT/OT set is money that is definitely staying in my pocket. I won't complain about spending less instead of more. When you think about the two movie trilogies, there really isn't that much left to make. Sure there's the odd set that they haven't made and there's a few more remakes a lot of people want, but really they've done quite a bit. And most of the remakes people want are sets that would be playsets, i.e.: Cantina, Cloud City, Jabba's Palace, etc, which all would be very big and very pricey to do a good job with. I'll never grow tired of Lego Star Wars as it pertains to the films and as long as they keep releasing a few sets per year and hopefully a nice big OT set every year I'll be happy. You have to keep in mind that Lego Star Wars never had to happen (and I think very few ever even envisioned it before it was announced) so I for one am very happy for what turned out to be a wonderful theme, which not only introduced loads of new elements, but also pioneered a new way of thinking for Lego designers and fans.
  14. Yeah I think what they're saying is, "Get yours for Christmas before we run out, because we won't have any new ones until after New Years."
  15. I think what he means is another system Falcon. The most recent one was released all the way back in 2004. A lot of people feel like it's time for another one.
  16. No, all Lego sets are classified as construction sets because you have to put them together. This is pretty lame, however I will say that this shouldn't be too shocking to anyone. Star Wars sets are very rarely included in TRU's buy one get one half off deals. Somewhat similar I love how they've put sets such as the AT-AT Walker and Palpatine's Shuttle "on sale" for $110 and $60 respectively. In other words, all they did was remove the ridiculous TRU mark-ups. Most probably because the sets were sitting on the shelves for so long. I decided to get the AT-AT from TRU a couple weeks ago and it had a layer of dust on the top of the box. It had probably been sitting on the shelf since the initial release.
  17. Haha, I had the exact same experience. About a year after I built mine, one of my cats jumped down on top of it from up on a bookcase. It sent pieces all across the room. To this day I still haven't found every piece. Fortunately the ones lost were pretty common and easily replaceable. As for the sagging other people have mentioned, the set does sag. It's not horrible, but if you're looking at it from the side it is noticeable. When the set was destroyed in the accident mentioned above, after I rebuilt it the sag was gone(lasted for a month or so), so at least the strain on the pieces doesn't appear to cause permanent deformation to any of the Lego pieces, which is good. Overall, it's a fabulous set. One of the best UCS sets for sure.
  18. I don't know what the official count is, but I'd estimate that I have about 110,000 pieces.
  19. Nothing major, but I'd be willing to bet the cannon is made using these pieces instead.
  20. I finally gave in and went out to the TRU to get the 8129 AT-AT Walker. I was relieved to find out it did not have the white sticker problem.
  21. You have to remember too that motion pictures have a much much higher budget than television shows. While the special effects are there for Star Wars, IMO Star Trek has it beat when it comes to acting and storyline, especially when comparing to the prequels. I cringe every time there's a "love scene" for a lack of a better term between Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman. Anyway to answer the OP What is your favorite Series: TOS, TNG Your Favorite films of the series: First Contact, The Voyage Home, The Wrath of Khan Your favorite Characthers from the shows: Kirk, Spock, Bones, Picard, LaForge, Data, Worf And your favorite epsiode: All Good Things
  22. Imagine my surprise when I went to purchase the set at a local TRU today and it wasn't the flap tearing kind. I wonder if Lego changed the boxes for later production runs or if the difference is a North American and European thing. IMO the set looks much better in person than it does in pictures. When this set first came out I was extremely disappointed, but now that I have it built, it's pretty sweet. The figures are great as well, although I also found it disappointing that the new General Veers and Hoth Rebel troopers in this set just had switched heads from the Imperial Officer and Hoth Rebels in the battlepacks. Really, the only new figures in this set were Luke (and his awesome new helmet design) and Han.
  23. I couldn't just pick one. I really like all of the following: Star Wars (PT/OT only) Pirates Castle (Pre-Knights Kingdom) Space (Pre-insectiods, but including SPIII) Wild West Aquazone Adventurers (Desert and Orient Expedition) Atlantis
  24. I disagree. The first wave was released 11 years ago. You can't change it. The theme was obviously successful and extremely popular. If Lego Star Wars had failed then this topic might have some relevance trying to figure out how they could have made it work, but what's the point of saying, I would have released the MF in 1999 instead of 2000 or I wouldn't have released the Podrace with the initial EPI releases? Why second guess something that was such a huge success?
  25. Leia's Endor hairpiece does indeed have a hole in the top of it. Here's the pic directly from Peeron:
