247K according to Brickset, not including another ~15K loose bricks. Well, as the Grateful Dead used to sing "Too much of everything is just enough." Although I personally don't think I've reached that point yet...

There were two factories, one in Willisau and one in Steinhausen. The factory in Willisau was closed in 2005 resulting in the loss of 237 jobs. The 55'000 square meter factory complex in Willisau was bought in 2011 by a company called Brack Competec group. The factory in Steinhausen was sold to a company called Wisi'on Tool, with at the time no loss of the 62 employees. One of their goals was to continue manufacturing molds for LEGO, along with other contracts for other companies. What in the end really happened I don't know (too late to google more). I also believe that the Family Kristiansen ownes the LEGO company through KIRKBI A/S, which is still located in Switzerland. You should find a bunch of information just by googling LEGO Switzerland etc.

7/8 #6 was the hardest for me, checked the spoilers and I never would have guessed... As a kid/teenager these were my favorites, had all the comics. Still love #5, have been reading quite a few of them recently (actually never really stopped ) and enjoying them just as much as ever. I remember looking at them before I could read and liking them (1974 or there about...) As soon as I began reading, they were my first ventures into the world of writing

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
gratefulnat replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I can understand people not comprehending why this is an issue, depending on your real life circumstances & environment, but I sure hope TLG continues with their current interpretation of this core value for the life span of the company. Yeah, I loved playing war as a kid, and if these sets had been available I would have loved to have them. My parents wouldn't have alowed it. That's what parents are for - setting boundaries and explaining why. But if you're a kid growing up in the midst of war, you will have a different take on this. My son's best friend (an Afghani) saw his father killed before his own eyes when he was 10, he does not think playing war is cool. His father was shot by american soldiers, by mistake... It happens in war, this is not meant to start any political discussion, just the facts. I myself am an american citizen (born and raised abroad), let me tell you there have recently been many excruciatingly tough discussions in my home, but the talks have been friutfull for us all, and opened up an understanding that in the end we are all human. Good for my son, his friend, and myself. The best quote (not directly LEGO related, that is) I've read on these boards in a while. THANK YOU! There are enough war toys out on the market, LEGO has no need to enter into this area. Of course, the beauty of LEGO is do what you want with it. If you want to build war models - go ahead, I have no qualms with that. The models linked in the OP are awesome, no doubt about it. -
This strikes me as a very sensible attitude Selling BaronSat's instructions would not be correct. Selling the model you built without the instructions is in my books not a problem, as long as a disclaimer is added of whose creation it is. The LEGO bricks are yours - do with them what you want.

Things are looking much better now, Huw has done amazing work. Most of the site seems to be back up and running smoothly. THANKS HUW , hugs & kisses Thanks Jod, you're absolutely right about exporting one's own collection, except the additional ACM info isn't included (or I don't know how to include it ) - and that's where lots of time/data important to me, would have been lost. I'll still wait a few days before updating my collection, no problem, but man am I relieved to see things getting back to normal.

Here I am worrying about my collection, and Huw is dealing with about 60K's worth of people's collections. Talk about about perspective... Yes, I really do miss it

Thanks for the reassuring words, Bonaparte. I know you're right, but a lot of hours of work have gone into that, so I'm nervous (the whiskey did help though ) And in the background, my teenage son is muttering "first world problems, dad, first world problems..." So I'll sit back, stay cool, and wait and see what happens.

I certainly am aware of the migration taking place, and that it has been difficult to access the site over the last few days. After buying a few new sets yesterday, I thought I'd still try to update my collection. After numerous login attempts with error messages, I closed the page. Being stubborn as I am, I thought I'd give it one more try, loaded Brickset successfully and discovered I was already logged in. Wierd. Went to my_sets and nearly pooped my pants - my collection has dissapeared! I now own 0 sets... (should be over 650, nearly all with added ACM info) I really really hope this is just an anomaly due to migration to the new server and starting up the new site. Time to drink tee until the new site is up and running, too terrified to even want to try accessing the site anymore... Maybe a stiff whiskey would be more appropriate than tee right now, I'm so flustered. Huw does a great job, so I'm trying to convince myself everything will turn out fine.

Mine arrived today as well But will just look at the bags full of goodies until I have time on the weekend to build For the first time in two years my son thinks LEGO might be sort of cool again - maybe I'll be able to convince him to build a little with me, been a while...

Do you have a lot of LEGO sets, which occupy a lot of living space? You bet! Did you buy many LEGO sets, but never open. and keep it unopened for years? (thinking about resale, regift, part-out LATER, but never happened?) I've tried, but I can't leave a set unopened Did you buy many LEGO used pieces but still sitting in the bins and never have time to sort them out? In 2011 cleaned and sorted over 20K of second-hand-LEGO bricks that had accumalated over years. Do you have have many unfinished MOCs from..like years? Haven't MOC'ed in years , but still a few lying in dusty corners for over 6 years... Do you keep all the instruct books, all the boxes..even the LEGO club magazines. the sticker sheets and LEGO catalogs? even the plastic number bags?? Threw out ten years worth of catalogues, 4 years of Club magazine, and used sticker sheets (not the stickers per say) last year. Felt like , but was good to do. I did keep the numbered plastic bags for about a year, freaked out one day and got rid of them. Do you think "I have too many LEGO pieces" but still buy some more when you think it is cheap enough? I even buy more when I don't think it's cheap enough Do you not only buy some LEGO sets. but also some watches, key chain, playing cards, magnet or even eraser/notebook? Up until the end of 2010 had every Star Wars watch/keychain/magnet and then just sold them all - that was great . I do use LEGO playing cards and my agenda is a LEGO Moleskine book. what do you think ? anything wrong? Nope

What concerts have you been to?
gratefulnat replied to RaincloudDustbin's topic in Culture & Multimedia
My first concert was Santana in 1982, I don't know what my parents were thinking letting a 12 year old go to a concert. But I'm glad they did because it was rocking. Elton John, Prince, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Rita Marley and the Wailers, Alpha Blondy, ZZ Top, Pink Floyd, John Mayall, and many, many more I don't remember Even though I was only 9 years old at the time, I'm very jealous. It must have been mind bending... wasn't that their last concert with John Bonham? What did you do in your spare time all those years without LEGO? Phish I saw probably about 6/7 times, starting out when they were still unknown. I remember one show, at college, with about 30 to 40 people and the band. We had all (the band as well) eaten mushroom Pizza and we rocked all night. This must have been in 1988 or 1989... A few years later (1994/5 ?) I saw them for the last time, about 30'000 people somewhere in CT or MA. My favorite band is the Grateful Dead, and I was lucky to see them continually throughout spring 1989 until fall 1990. That was a psychedlic blast. Now that I'm older (and slightly more mature) and a parent, over the last ten years I haven't been to one concert... -
Thread title -> random minifigures I'd guess it's a random picture of minifigures... although it does look like an index sign, the link goes only to the picture. Someone with moderator powers is probably just playing an innocent joke on you in regards to your thread title. I think it's pretty funny , and shows a good sense of humour.

Review Review: 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter
gratefulnat replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just placed my order for the set, can't wait Thanks for an amazing review Rufus , you covered all the aspects. Certainly a review that needs time to read and digest, rather than just a quick overview. I like this version more than 7191, but I have an emotional attachment to 7191 that this new set will never be able to replace, so I voted for 7191. Just goes to show how emotional LEGO is for some of us, when you like a lesser model more... But I know they'll look great together on my shelf.- 118 replies

7261 Clone Turbo Tank (with Non-Light-Up MW) - correct bricks
gratefulnat replied to Basteq's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I had the same issue with set 7264. According to the instructions trans-light blue are correct, but my set came with medium blue. I believe LEGO ran out of the trans-light blue pieces and just decided to do production runs with the medium blue, so the sets were produced with both variations, without the instructions and box art being modified. I guess it all depends on how OCD you are (I replaced the 4 parts in 7264 with trans-light blue ). My 7264 (with light up) came with the trans-light blue. -
Maybe the mistake was noticed after packaging production had started as you say, makes sense, and some sets did slip through. It would be interesting to hear what other members experience. I don't know if the same set is packaged in different countries according to their distribution chanels (US (Mexico plant) vs Europe (Czech plant)), and if that could play a role.

We are displeased by TLC's customer service
gratefulnat replied to Kumpelkante's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I work in accounts payable (billing), and handle about 7'500 transactions per month with a team of 8, each one checked manually. Every month we have a few cases (3 to 4) where transferring money out or registering it coming in gets messed up, and sometimes even 'lost.' The banks are not always easy to work with in finding out what happened. Sometimes finding where a lost payment is can take 4 weeks or more, worst case 2 months. Here it's helpful if you start contacting your bank (or your girlfriends) to get information, as the banks might be refusing to give LEGO the information you want from them. I imagine LEGO handles many thousands of transactions more than we do every month, so even the best service can sometimes not work properly. With issues like this, with more than just one mistake, I recommend always getting the persons name you are dealing with. That way when you have to follow up, you have a personal contact. In a large company it's much easier to have one contact than many, because communication between the different employees/departments sometimes just doesn't work ('Too many cooks can spoil the soup') I don't think you are overreacting, and I believe you're showing a certain amount of consideration/understanding that a mistake has happened. Stay calm but be persistent.I do believe as the other's have said that LEGO has one of the best customer services of any company today, and that they take that very seriously. In the end, I think you have had extremely bad luck, which can happen, with one of the best customer services. I recommend contacting LEGO daily until the issue is resolved to your satisfaction. They will want to resolve it as quick as you want it to be resolved. -
Love it I do agree with Rufus about the 4L bars, be interesting to see the difference.

Stunningly beautiful I couldn't agree more! I wonder what the dome would look like without the tiles. It would stand out maybe a little more because of the studs, but maybe also be more sleek?
