LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
gratefulnat replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am really excited by this TIE and the figures. Hopefully this is a sign of another great year like 2006 for TLC's Star Wars sets... -
Just as Brickdoctor I'd agree with this. I ordered my set in February of 2007 (this is the only set I'm aware of that was able to be preordered over S@H six/seven months in advance - number 7777 by the way), and all Pin Connector Round pieces that came with my set were with the slot, even though in the instructions inventory it is depicted as without the slot. @jasonsmith: I'd say you'll be allright going for those with the slot - but who knows - maybe there were some without. I really wouldn't worry about it.

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer

I follow these discussions between you and Anio with much appreciation, and look forward to more I envy your ability to convey your thoughts in such a succinct and respectfull manner Thanks for the 'food for thought' that your discourse offers. -
The hi-res is from Grogall, and not me , I was just commenting on it. You could be right about the popsicle being a joke on TLG's part - seems to be the best explanation so far Sorry fallenangel309, no review from me - not that I don't want to, just not enough time... You are spot on about the gantry - it can be raised and lowered, and it can be removed. I assume the 2x2 round brick is meant to represent a magnet (or something similar) with which the ships are lifted with and held in place. I'm sure with your knowledge of star wars you'll be able to answer your question better than I am able to But considering the size of the gantry, you will not get anyhing other than the nose of a system x-wing through it. The set itself buildwise is surprisingly stable, but it really lacks any cohesiveness as say the battle of endor set. A whole lot of neat little play-functions but the overall look is just too sloppy in my AFOL opinion. But the stability and amount of functions will, I believe, make it a very popular set with kids.

Absolutely, the previous taun taun didn't have it, so this was a surprise I could do without. But I'm sure it's about safety - it would be all that much harder to stab someone with the new tail

After having built the set this morning, yup, it certainly is a 'popsicle' - a neat translucent piece, but I certainly don't have any idea for what either... The one thing that really irked me (and you certainly don't see it on the hi-res picture), is that the last 2 cm's of the taun taun's tail is made out of rubber (the same as for example plo koon's head is made out of), so there's a nasty seam right in the middle of the tail where the ABS plastic ends and the rubber starts - plus the coloring is slightly off. Ughh!

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer

Thanks for that post Aeroeza! Reading this was balsam for my understanding of creativity! I wholeheartedly agree, there are no do's and don'ts as to what works except each individuals' own likes and dislikes. Perception is a very individual thing. Certainly, the collective tries(and often succeeds, and often with justifiable reasons) in instilling a sense of what is correct, even if the collective is usually a few individuals who believe they know how to think for everyone else, but I just don't see a reason for this with something like star wars. It's about fanstasy, and what that fantasy triggers in each of us. And don't even get me started on LEGO...there are no boundaries, except the one's I implement for myself, period! My freeco speeder is parked outside the modular firestation right now, and I like it like that Rant over. By the way, I also happen to like this new UCS set a lot, even with all it's faults and inaccuracies. My fanatsy (and some modding) will take care of those issues -
Nice to know someone here was also 'on the bus' - those were certainly some psychedelic times! I have to agree about the windshield, and I also think the front bumper might be too prominent, but as you say - more pics before final judgement (which won't stop me from getting it though - too many memories).

The VW van looks awesome. Considering I spent two years ('88-'90) following the Grateful Dead on tour mostly in simmilar VW Bus's (+ many hours on the roadside trying to fix the suckers and having friendly conversations with the local state police), getting this will be a real nostalgia trip The winter post office looks like it's coming with many nice extras, a great addition to the previous two sets. Both certainly on my will-get list. Thanks for the pictures!

but only a LITTLE bit... -
Thanks for the review Blacknight112 I really like the comparison pictures with the older set, it shows how much more 'less angular' TLG was able to design this one. The ship really is great (the price... ). As for the minifigures: Commander Cody is fine (not much you can do wrong there), but for me just another clone - a step above droids (okay, kill me now clone lovers ). The geonosian's face from the front is awesome, but that fat 'neck' really stands out as you say in your review. Maybe LEGO could have done a better job with a rubber mold (such as Plo-Koon). Nice print though. With some wings from the original set the figure looks pretty good though. As for Ki-Adi-mundi, even with the funny top piece, I still really like it. If you look at the figure from a slight distance, the 'crack' between the two pieces isn't all that noticable and the printed orange lines help to hide this. But a complete mold would have done the figure more justice. All in all, a well designed ship, and some minifigures that aren't quite as good as they should be for this price. If I didn't like the ship so much, this would be a pretty weak set. Considering that so many rehashed sets have such amazing figures, LEGO seems to have messed up with this one. If you want it, wait for sales...

Thanks for the review! This was one of the few Star Wars sets I got for my son and not myself ( ), and with the kids playing out scenes it just , way too cumbersome and clunky. But there are some nice parts to recreate the fight scene. This is true, and you can replace them, but it isn't particularily easy if you want your figures to stay scratch free (at least it wasn't for me). All in all I don't think this set really worked, but it has some nice parts.

As a LSW completist, this was (once again) one of those CW sets that I knew I was going to get, but was pretty 'meh' about. But after building it, I really like the ugly thing. The build was fun and the ship is quite solid and stable, as def says in his review (which was a fun read, thanks!). The more I look at it, the more it grows on me. The speeder bikes, once detached, are pretty slick in their design. Plus the figures are well executed. Savage Opress's torso print is great, so much so I won't display him with his armour.

This will be one of the Star Wars MOC's that will be talked about years from now, stunning, amazing, beautifully rendered. Thank you, Marshall_banana, incredible work!!

This is absolutely hilarious , thanks to both of you for a great laugh Talk about 'playing' with 'the dark side'...

+1 Solscud007 Smooth and fast trade - thanks! -
After having just finished cleaning and storing sets from episode I-III, I can confirm that Obi-wan's hair in my sets is always 'dark orange'. This is also in agreement with minifig info on brickset. I would say you either got a set where LEGO put in the wrong colored hair piece (the hair piece itelf is quite generic), or if you got it second hand then someone mixed up the colors. Anakin's (Episode II) hairpiece is the same part, but as you mentioned it is lighter in color. I am not aware of obi-wan's hair being released in this lighter color in any production run. Cheers

Well, after eyeing this set for a long time, I finally got 10193 MMV

I love LEGO Star Wars, and I also really have to agree with you Legolandia. I know it's fun to get into the hype of something, but I don't care anymore. Lego will release what they release, and whether an arm is blue or orange or grey, or he said that and they said this, you know what - I don't care (...you're aloud to, I'm just not interested), but I also find the discussion ho-hum Hey - let's just wait and see , I'm always excited for what's going to be released
-
Absolutely stunning. I think you got the proportions exactly right. It's great to read some of the constructive criticisms, and yeah, the wings are a little thick, and a few studs here and there would be a fine thing. But I really don't care - it's just an awesome build with so many things going on all at once. I'm speechless and full of wonder. p.s. a real swiss precision model

I saw this a few weeks ago in a department store in Zürich (Switzerland), most impressive. I also didn't notice a green brick, even though I spent quite some time admiring it from all angles. There must be quite a few of these if people are spotting them around the world. Makes me wonder how many do LEGO actually build so as to be displayed in different locations at the same time?
