  1. Here are the differences between the two books: The history of TLG, pages 1-29, are identical. A few of the title pages for theme chapters have different pictures, as well as many of the 'Sets to remember' pages. 'Lego Elements to remember' now includes POP, Alien Conquest & Friends. The Special Editions page now has pictures of the winter sets rather than the modulars. The fashion & style has 1 page of completely different pictures. The 2 pages for LEGO Universe have been replaced by LEGO video games The reprint has 56 more pages with 256 compared to 200 pages. The new pages are as follows: +2: The time-line of 'New Worlds to Discover' now includes 2 pages for 'And Beyond', covering releases up to 2012. +2: Alien Conquest +2: LEGO City 'City Outskirts' - sets from 2010-2012 +2: LEGO Castle 'Kingdoms' - sets 2010-2012 +2: LEGO Space 'Alien Conquest' +2: LEGO Pirates 'Imperial Flagship' +10: LEGO Adventures: +1 Pharaoh's Quest, +1 Dino, +1 Atlantis, +1 Agents, +2 Monster Fighters, +4 Ninjago +2: Collectable Minifigures +4: Hero Factory +2: LEGO Creator - sets 2010&2011 +2: The LEGO Wheel +2: LEGO Friends +2: New introduction to LEGO Duplo +2: the modular houses +2: Star Wars +2: DC Super Heroes +2: Marvel Super heroes +2: POC & POP +2: Toy Story & Cars +2: LOTR +2: Star Wars Miniland +2: LEGO games +2: 'New Hoirizons' - covering CUUSOO & Life of George So with all the new inclusions the book is quite up to date, but as I said otherwise there isn't anything new. The new inclusions follow exactly the same layout as in the first version, but the original info hasn't been changed/added to. So unless you want a more complete version with the new themes from 2010-2012, there isn't anything new. The 2nd Edition of the LEGO Collector's guide still has only 1 entry for 810 in 1961, and there are now 15 sets shown as released in 1963 as compared to 29 in the first edition.
  2. I'm not going to list the pages, as there are only very few additions to what was already published in the first version. Mainly with evergreen topics there are a few new (small) photo's inserted on the pages (eg City), otherwise it's as you remark - only new additions for new themes (friends, ninjago etc). I was slightly disapointed with the new version, sure it's nice to see the new themes added, but that's it. There is no other new interesting information regarding the company as a whole. I'd stick with your old edition for now. regards Nathaniel
  3. Thanks for sharing this - incredible!
  4. I really admire your building prowess I have always enjoyed seeing you present your creations Your ability at constucting airplanes/jets (amongst many other things) with such such attention to detail, scale, and structural soundness is astounding. Thanks for sharing another mind-boggeling build!
  5. 5 years of temp work, everything from polishing boats, planting gardens, to drilling parts for Porsche motors and military rockets... 15 years of leading many different stores' fresh produce departments for Migros (the largest food/non food/fresh produce retailer in Switzerland), and for the last five years working for Exxon Mobile (since 1 July no longer, otherwise I wouldn't be aloud to mention it in public(love those big global companies that seem to think their policies are worth more than individual rights, although they paid me well. So I shouldn't bite the hand that fed me...)). Now working for an energy/oil company from eastern europe, newly setting foot in the western market and wanting to establish a new premium brand, very exciting and challenging as we are starting from scratch. I am assistant team lead for accounts payable - making sure accounting has the necessary and correct input for their number crunching (sales/margins) and that the individual gas station shops have correct numbers for their inventory/sales profits. Plus a single parent of a teenage son, and caretaker of 24 apartments.
  6. All Lord of the Rings sets. Sopwith Camel & mini. 10214 Tower Bridge.
  7. According to Brickset, just under U.S. $15'000.00 (including a few sets not star wars related). As I live in Switzerland, in Swiss francs I'd say about 25'000.- to 30'000.- And I'm ready & willing to spend more And yes, I had my insurance adjusted two years ago. The agent who came by to check it out was a little , to say the least
  8. Hi Konajra, Drinking my morning coffee and I stumble onto your pictures and was just speechless. Looking at your pictures gave me a jolt caffeine never will Absolutely amazing MOC's! This is more than worthy of front page news! Thanks!
  9. Thanks for an absolutely brilliant review of an equally brilliant set. I nearly had as much fun reading your review as building the set itself I agree with you that R2 could lean back a little more: But rather than modifying the 'yellow beast', I just swapped the placement of the 1x2 white tile and 1x2 blue cheese with 1x2 red plate on the top of the technic rack of his third leg: This would be step 82, page 14 of book 2. This allows the third leg to drop down just a little more(2-3 mm's), making R2 lean back at a slightly sharper angle, without affecting any of the functionality, except for the fact that the middle leg doesn't retract to sit flush with the bottom of R2. But that doesn't bother me as I have R2 on display in 'walking' mode. Once again, thanks for your review's Rufus, they really are a pleasure to read!
  10. I hear you - that's how I try to do it too My son has now realized (he's 12) that when dad gets all excited about buying LEGO, all he needs to do is tag along. He knows that if I spend +100's of cash on LEGO, I will run into certain problems explaining why he can't have something, so he ends up getting something as well. Smart kid! So I try to hide my purchases from him as best I can.
  11. This information has been posted by yellowcastle over at Brickset: Billund, Denmark - In a surprising development, The LEGO Group (TLG) announced today that production of The Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon (10179) would recommence later this month. Via a telephone interview with media outlets, Vice President of Manufacturing, Louis Friend said that, "(we) definitely keep an eye on the secondary market and it's just astounding how this set is performing. It just made too much sense to revisit." This announcement comes as quite a surprise to the community as this was one of the few sets ever that TLG had ever actually predicated its departure with a notice of discontinuation. Many collectors are sure to greet this news with skepticism if not animosity as the value of the first run sets is sure to drop with any rerelease. This response from the community, though, was not unforseen by TLG as Louis Friend made sure to point out in the news release. "We do realize what effect this could have on the aftermarket and we did not come to this decision lightly or quickly. That being said, and to quote Spock, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. I have been, and will always be, your friend," writes the VP. Sound good? Ohh, wait a minute, what day is today?
  12. I believe the problem stems from the use of the 6x24 plates, which have some pretty hefty 'bowing' or warping. Maybe using multiple smaller plates in the design could have avoided this. I don't think it has to do with 1x4 plates with two studs. I have added 1x1 or 1x2 plates to each corner where there were only tiles, making all corners sit flush with each other. This does seem to exert quite it a bit of pressure on the overall structure and even creates a slight hairline fissure between the different levels, so I'm not completely satisfied with this solution. I hope swapping the 6x24 plates with multiple smaller ones will correct this 'design flaw' - but I don't feel like taking everything apart right now just after finishing building the set. Otherwise, it really is a beauty of a set
  13. 10231 Shuttle Expedition 3065 Olivia's tree house and next Wednesday I'l be picking up 10224 Town Hall right in time for my Birthday!

  15. Hi Javert, Light blueish gray is the new lite gray, since 2004 onwards when the color change took place, commonly known as blay (light blay and dark blay for light and dark gray). I would assume that any part described as blay is the new color, and any part described as gray is the old color. As I'm not real experienced with either peeron or bricklink, so I'm not sure what differences exist in their denominations of color. But light blueish gray is the new gray, not the old. I'm sure someone else will be able to give more exact information, but maybe this helps for a start.
  16. +1 to Donut, thanks for everything. Quick and uncomplicated!
  17. Thanks for the review Siegfried. I just finished building mine on Friday, and am loving this baby One of the first LEGO SW ships I've had the urge to fly around in my appartment in many years, great build and great set!
  18. Thanks for the tip mutley777, yeah, the price has really fallen over the last few months. Have a trade in the works right now, no more pm's please, will inform when completed or not. Thanks.
  19. As a lower middle-income class earner, I am interested in getting as much as possible for my hard earned cash. Added to this, I live in Switzerland, where LEGO prices rarely end up in discounts (no 2 for 3, Bogo 50%, etc), so finding a way to get sets for lower than recommended sales prices (RSP) is hard (Switzerland is a 'rich' country, so obviously most retailers don't see a need for these kind of offers). But, with a little patience and time, one can usually find assorted LEGO products for less than RSP on the internet. Here the problem is postage, because anything from outside of Switzerland will generate exorbiante postage costs & custom costs for VAT (tax). Recently I discovered a great little family toy shop, with most prices about 5% more than LEGO s@h prices. They have a great selection, many sets that have been out of production for over 10 years, and are friendly. They also carry most exclusive sets which normally can be only found over s@h. So I made a decision that paying a little more, with the knowledge that my money is helping finance a family and their business, is worth it. Whether I spend 2500 Swiss Francs a year, or 2625 (ok, a few less beers to drink throughout the year), really doesn't make a difference in calculating my budget. But knowing that I'm supporting a family's income rather than a company like TRU does make a difference. So sometimes paying a little more can make a big difference if not only looking at one's own financial situation. Any thoughts?
  20. Hi all, I would really like to get a MISB copy of the Brickmaster Bounty Hunter Assault Ship. I have 5 MISB Collectable Spartan Warrior figures I would be willing to trade for it. I also have about 50 various & opened, like new, minifigures from Series 1-6 and would be willing to throw in a few of these figures as well, if I have what you would want. Each party to cover shipping costs, will ship world wide in a double bubble-wrap envelope. If intereseted, drop me a pm. (p.s. I am on the staightshooter's list with two successful trades)
  21. Of 288 different sets, 270 are Star Wars. So about 94%. @simonwillems: 657 sets in total
  22. Just finished building 10210 today I don't use bricklink (yet), but searched the set and then inventory which led to this: Hose, Soft Axle, part 32199 black edit: brickmack beat me to it...
  23. Found 10210 imperial flagship in a small family toy store, excited to build my first ever LEGO ship/pirate set.
  24. I once had a problem with double VIP points being correctly added to my account. One telephone call to customer service and the problem was solved within a few days. Kermit - just contact them by phone and let them know and I'm sure everything wil be straightend out.
