Ha, I didn't even realize about the ski molds till you pointed it out! On comparison yes they are the newer versions. I think it still keeps the aesthetic of the overall look without compromising the integrity. Consider this Cafe Corner 2.0. I am not bothered by the few tweaks I did. I have the old style window panes but was unable to get the old frames. On a budget there is only so much I could do. I tried to get as many 'original' parts as possible. I paid 10 Euro for a dark blue 1x8 bow...ugh. As for the Bright blue bows, you're right they do stand out more. I may try to acquire it at a later date but it was one of those elements that is just such a pain to get for an affordable price (when I was hunting last summer). I'm happy Sin started this thread, and that you have been inspired. Did you part out some parts from your sets? Or were you starting from scratch? To acquire these old sets without spending (ie. $1200 for Green Grocer New in the box) obscene after market prices is a delight. I never thought I would own either of these sets a year ago. Much less do it for $600-700 altogether.

Lightning tiger out of curiosity, what did you mean by 'having the bus stop where it is reminds you of your tank station design'? I'm not aware of what that is.

Really nice to see Sin. Now I wish I had the bright blue bows hehe. How does it feel to own it? Surreal isn't it? I know for me after seeing it on a computer screen countless times to actually having it is a wholly good feeling.

Thank you I asked with Cuusoo about whether they would accept a design that was partially reverse engineered. They honestly didn't have an answer as they never had been asked that before. In any case this set was built for myself, not for profit. That is a 1x4 plate and tile i believe. Im not sure why I did it like that. :p There is a 2x2 tile on top of the roof of the building. I had an extra and placed it there to give the roof plates some strength as there are 2x8 plates underneath. The petrol pump needs to have something to hold the four lattice plates together other than the 2x14 underneath. Thank you Thank you! I just noticed the crooked tile in the photo. No worries I will straighten out. Thank you! That is why I said I reverse engineered the exterior of the building and 'my version'.. I figured someone would want to point it out. All of it was created in LDD first and there are differences. At this point though it has become my design because I took the different elements/concepts and added my own ideas into it to create something new. This was the first thing i ever created in real life based on work i did in LDD. I think it's better than the original concepts and it does fit in nicely with my modulars which is why I liked it so much. Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Thank you Dayton! You are correct sir, the sign was to have stickers and does get knocked over easily. However it wasn't designed so much for kids to play with, just the bigger kid, me. I designed these trees to use in my city (have 10 or so made) but I found the awning from the station can get in the way of the leafy parts so I had to move them around somewhat. They look better from an angle slightly higher or lower than the photos I took. But maybe I will redo it later on as I keep changing the size of the trees every time I build them. Thank you, constructive critism is good to hear as well as your compliments.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate the support. I shouldn't take all the credit. The exterior of the initial building is reverse engineered/based from someone else's design. However that is as far as it went and I made it my own and incorporated more things. I worked hard on it.

Thank you KringlesBricks! It looks great next to my modulars (or rather across the street) hehe. Thank you Freddy Bricker. That is very nice of you to say.

Hey thanks! MS is an option but right now I have been eyeing my Lego World Bridge design. I think it would look great once built. The other project I have been working on in LDD is a police station modular. I know right? I don't have the space to have them all out yet. However I do recommend getting the Town Hall. I really liked that set and the build. It was by far the largest set I ever bought. I made some mini-figures to add to it the other year. So I have 'a politician/Mr. Big type' and his body guards who visit the town hall to see the mayor, along with head of unions. Looking forward to seeing yours all complete!

Hi all, I finally completed my Octan Gas Station and wanted to share it. It has been sitting for a few months on my shelf minus a few parts until I could combine an order from Lego to finish it off properly. Needless to say I really do like my version; complete with a bus stop design that I plan on using for other sections in my city. Included inside are a refrigerator, ice cream freezer, slushy/coffee machine and an ATM from set 7279 (had to utilize that part somehow ). I have no idea how much I spent on the parts through Brick Link but I think it was around $150-ish. Enjoy!

Pretty awesome Sin! I took some photos this afternoon. I added some other photos to my Flickr account. I am waiting on my new order for the few bits I missed on. Albeit I do not have the bright blue bows but it still looks good with the medium blue too. Sit back and enjoy!

Awesome stuff! I got my final order yesterday and have built both the CC and GG. Whew!! I was up till 3:30am. Seeing them in in the flesh all built was quite awesome. Really loving the sets. My CC right now is 99% complete minus the side door. (The used one I got was scratched to hell and I refuse to use it) Green Grocer on the other hand I somehow messed up a few part counts on my spreadsheet and thus had to place another order for about 5 pieces for the green grocer. Except I just realized I forgot one other piece on the order ugh. The original roof tile I had bought was incorrect from Bricklink. In any case the sets look fantastic and I'm very happy I did this project. I'll try and do some photos soon.

I'm liking this set. I'd use it not as a part pack but like a mom and pop shop on the outskirts of my downtown modular core.
-
Yes it was! It's a simple build but very clever with the blades sitting just at the right point to spin as you roll it across the floor.

Lol mule...I can't track my BnP order but I'm expecting it next week. 10-14 business days...but it is my last order. Speaking of boredom I just picked up the lawn mower polybags from 2013. Toys r us had it for the first time. I seriously go into withdrawal when I don't have something new.

The arctic sets look great! I'm really liking the new train station too. I will definitely buy it. All in all I think lego has done an excellent job with these sets and the new trains.

Customer service has been having issues with their computer systems the past week or so. I had a part cancelled on me due to a shortage of a parts but I called them back and they placed it on back order. In my case I had an older element ID number and the part literally ran out! Fret not, they will help you sort if out. I'm assuming they had a very limited supply of the 80mm pipe, as I was told on numerous occasions that it was discontinued yet when I went to order a few weeks ago they had it in stock! I've been told at times they will get parts back in stock. I'm loving the fact that designers are using more old pieces in new sets and thus we can buy them again.

That would have saved me so much money...I paid $40 from a US BL seller.

Question about LDD decals
Wodanis replied to Wodanis's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks Lego Otaku. Guess that should be on our wishlist for LDD eh? -
Can never have enough mini-figures! What was it they mailed to you? Bricks or figs?
-
Hi, I am struggling with an issue in LDD where my palette decals for heads and bodies doesn't seem to have the full range for mini-figures. For example I cannot find the Elite Police body decals in LDD nor the masked robber head. Forest police are there, it is a case my version is not up to date? I have version 4.3.8 Any help would be great thank you!

I bought the pieces individually. The girl hair pieces I bought off Bricklink. (At the time I did not know about BnP) the torsos, heads from BnP while the legs were PaB. I paid around the same prices as you hehe. I couldn't find the whole mini-figures for a reasonable price. I actually prefer buying them separately. Currently working on making an elite police riot squad. I have several criminals already made to create mayhem.
-
Cool! I had the same logic. I only managed to get one of the blue suit bodies though. I don't have the figs for market street. I ordered the pet shop cat as the replacement for Green Grocer. I managed to get my plain white bodies from BnP and since they had just gotten more of the tan bodies for the Green Grocer boy I ordered some extras
-
I haven't started ordering the parts for market street. In fact I will have to wait on it as I have other projects I'm working on and I still need the palace cinema and Parisian restaurant. That is pretty good on pricing Sin. Did you managed to acquire a 'kitty eyes 2' for Green Grocer?

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Wodanis replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The clone trooper for hire is also definitely Chinese made. Complete with the off colour blue for the 501st... You'd be correct. Unfortunately I don't own one to check myself but from your description that fits as a made in Denmark fig.
