Releasing sets at the exact same time globally is logistically near impossible to achieve. It's honestly pretty funny to me that people are losing their minds over not getting stuff sooner or as soon as others. There are also other themes released in the US way ahead of the rest of the world this wave (and pretty much any wave ever). Some people don't care about those of course but it doesn't really change reality. Can't get everything everywhere at the same time. Also can you really say that the US has always received the Winter Wave on January 1st if it's now second year in a row that it hasn't? I get that people are frustrated about it, but it's not like you've ever gotten a guarantee. And you can still buy everything as soon as they release like always. You just have to wait until your region's release or you shell out more cash to import them. This happens with most consumer products, you wait your turn or you pay more. And of course people are gloating, the region that usually goes first is whining about not being in the front of the line anymore. Seems like a perfectly natural, albeit a bit immature perhaps, a reaction to claims of "unfairness" and general outbursts of frustration over something no one is entitled to in the first place.

Review | LEGO 75170 Star Wars ● THE PHANTOM
khatmorg replied to Brick Ministry's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It can fit on it. However it looks ridiculous and only backwards even if you remove the cockpit. Also there is no stud connection. -
Why are you digging up this steaming pile of garbage again? There is no set definition on what is and what is not a UCS set aside from TLG labeling it so, end of story.

In the particular case of that shuttle I would imagine they chose to add more color because it would look very boring otherwise. Kids don't generally care about super accurate color palletes. The thing about building in accurate colors is that they tend to look very bland and/or fresh out of the factory. Most Star Wars vehicles are grimy/dirty and beat up. But instead of shipping sets with dirt, TLG chooses to use highlights in less accurate colors. Like for example sand blue highlights in the recent year(s), less accurate but they give life to the models. And sometimes parts just aren't available in whatever color is most accurate.

In my case there was one technic axle with stopper that was slightly too long in the shuttle set. The rest of the rogue one sets were perfect though.

Wow that Y-Wing looks sooooooo much better in the new pic. I was gonna pass on it but it actually looks pretty good, the box art definitely doesn't do it justice.

[MOD/WIP] 10019 UCS Rebel Blockade Runner refresh
khatmorg replied to NathanR's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So what exactly is the purpose of your project? Are you merely updating rare parts with more readily available parts or you updating the entire model to modern standards? I've always wanted to an updated version of the blockade runner, redoing the hammerhead so it doesn't have those awful rubber band holding it together, adding the missing section between the engines and docking modules and etc. Do you have pictures you're willing to show of what you've got so far? Sorry I'm not very helpful regarding your query.- 14 replies

Yeah no I know that, what I meant is that it's for marketing reasons that they decide to NOT put it on the boxes in regions outside north america. If it would increase sales TLG would surely paste in on every box out there. Sadly it's in no way beneficial to TLG itself to allow the consumer to make direct comparisons (via piece count) between sets within the same price point. You can look up the piece count online of course nowadays, but the average buyer most likely will not when picking out a set in a brick and mortar store.

It's a marketing thing, pasting the piece count on the box could make the consumer think twice about if the product is worth their money.

I would wager it has something to do with all the people that complained about the wings falling off easily. Which was/is user error, you just need to push them in completely until they click (like in the instructions). In all likelihood it's easier to do that with the revision.

Looks really nice and smooth. I've never really been a fan of this particular style of art work but you've done a great job translating it into LEGO. The stud shooter and spring launchers are a bit distracting though, I like action features on LEGO models but they contrast too much in this case I think.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
khatmorg replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It is normal yes, nothing to worry about. -
I'm a bit confused why you use the FO wings but don't use the connection. The main advantage over the old OT version is the sturdier connection. It looks like you only use a single pin each side to connect the wings to the body, that's not sturdy at all. I would wager thats even worse than the OT version since the will now also rotate in addition to wobble. I like what you did aside from that though. The dish on the back looks perfect. I've also always wanted a stand for mine so it doesn't scrape the tiles on the bottom, too lazy to design one though.

I have a table scrap that's been sitting around in one of my bins for ages that might be useful to you. I was going to build the jedi cruiser from TCW but I got sidetracked.

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the ships design itself but you really did a great job replicating it. I love the interior especially, the ship is surprisingly roomy on the inside! Would have been awesome if he could reach the back of the ship from the cockpit though.

Bright red bricks are bricks that can be any color. It usually means they aren't visible in the finished model so it doesn't matter what color it is (bright red is the default color setting in LDD).

[MOC][WIP][LDD] Minifig Scale Rebels Ghost Build
khatmorg replied to IcarusBuilds's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Technically both ways are the right way. In a lot of scenes where they're chased the cockpit faces backwards so they can use it's cannons to fire back. How do they exit and enter when it's facing inward anyway? -
(WIP LDD) Building a larger StarScavenger
khatmorg replied to YellowCorvette's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The third option, with a turret! I think your version looks a bit too flat on top and also needs a more pronounced "brow". -
I hope thats just temporary, that thing is ugly.
-
I think you're reading too much into it. That or it's the worlds worst pun.
-
Isn't this just the speederbike from the clone trooper battlepack from a while back? This should probably be posted in the ldd builds of official sets thread or whatever it's called.
-
I would prefer they just crash it and get a new one really =P. It looks like a butchered defender class corvette (one of my favorite ships). It makes me sad whenever I see it. If they release a more detailed version they better do a complete overhaul. The design looks really lazy compared to other sets with nice SNOT builds and all that. Enlarging it they way they did in the show sure doesn't do it any favors.

Is it time for Lego to update their blaster rifle models?
khatmorg replied to RetroInferno's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wouldn't read too much into it. There's a whole bunch of parts outside of the guns that don't exist in real life that they use in the game. It's been like that for pretty much every telltale LEGO game. Which is weird because some of the builds feature magical connections (not connected by studs or anything), why do that if you can just conjure up new parts. They also use parts in colors that they dont actually mold them in real life. I'm curious about who builds all the stuff in the games and what the approval process is like.
