  1. Very well seen Zblj ! I just changed that part on my model. I'm sure it will work better now. I wonder how a designer can make such a mistake. O_o (cause yes, it is definitely a mistake).
  2. 1. Not possible, as far as I know. 2. Buy everything in Light bluish gray, excepted the "old" hinges. If you don't want to use these old hinges, use a wheel to do the engines (as I did).
  3. But as far I can see, I didn't post in that thread, did I ? I am always pleased to see that some people notice that I try to do my best for my models to look good (at least to be well designed) both outside and inside. That's something important to me in the design process. But very detailled model outside and well optimised inside requires a lot of time. It is regrettable that this huge Millenium Falcon is not better than 10179 in term of design and detail. But I think that this is fully understandable : the goal of a model which will be displayed in a Legoland is not the same of a model which will be produced and sold in thousands of copies. :) That said, it is true that the Snowspeeder looks very weird. I think that it may be quite easy to achieve a better model, without spending hours and hours. As for a T-47, I'm quite satisfied with my 10129. :)
  4. Actually, it seems logical to me to first show the design process and then show the finished model. :) I do not like big tiled surfaces. :) Otherwise, yes, the ISD is to scale with the Executor. It would have been too bad to spend hours and hours designing the "main" model (Executor) and then doing a huge mistake on the design of the easiest part of the MOC (ISD). ^^ Thank you.
  5. +1 Buying toys to keep them MISB ? What for ? To make money ? Actually, the question you must answer is : "What do I prefer : money or Lego ?" Hope you know the right answer. :p
  6. Making the wing fit with the structure was okay. Making the wings fit with the greebs plateau was a bit harder. Cause the angle of the plateau is not the same as the angle of the structure, since the wings are not horizontal (dunno if you see what I mean). But building a very strong structure with perfect angles everywhere is definitely the hardest part of the MOC. I spent half of the time of the design process to achieve this structure. It is also necessary to find the right angles for the structure of the tail. Greebs take much time too. But it is not as hard if you know how do you want them to look like.
  7. I had a lot of fun when I read that message from TLG. Whatever the pic I may get, I will share it as soon as possible, every where I can (EB and some other forums and websites). And I really do not care if TLG do not like this. The whole AFOL community do a GREAT promotion for the Lego brand throughout the world (with websites, events, MOCs, etc). So, TLG, just do not annoy us with some pics which are released a little earlier than what you expected !!
  8. Pete, it looks great ! You use a very good mix between plates, tiles and slopes. Well, I would really appreciate to see how the model is built inside (structure). Cause I think it is the hardest part to build.
  9. This 8070 seems to be very similar to 8297 : very interesting design inside, with many gears, complex mechanisms, etc. But unfortunately, it also looks boring to play with. :/ Thank you for the video though. And even if this model won't be my favourite set, I'm a bit impatient to get it (just like every new set actually ).
  10. Yeah, that's exactly what I meant.
  11. Honnestly, smaller ships (official sets or MOCs) are much more accurate and detailed. :/
  12. The noze of 8461 is also a bit different from 8458. Personally, I think that 8674 is much more realistic. Its suspensions are also a little bit more efficient (especially on the front axle). The steering is better too. And with the stickers, it is totally awesome !
  13. No, it is about 70 cm long (if you're talking about the model I'm thinking to). So, it not to scale with my Venator.
  14. It is French but... I don't understand ! What do you mean ? Which MOC ?
  15. Only 20 ? Yeah, now I'm sure that it would have taken me more time than you. I'm very slow at MOCing. Same for me. :)
  16. Wow... you build it very quickly. I'm impressed. I would have need one month to do that. @_*
  17. Yeah, you're right. I misunderstood what you wrote.
  18. Not necessarily... Cause with a "classic" gear box you have one axle that goes in and one that goes out. Whereas with a gear box which enables to switch between several functions, one axle goes in but 4 goes out. So, it is very interesting too.
  19. Yep. Actually I did my list only for the sets with more than 500 parts. But I will add it. If someone knows who are the designers of any other sets... :)
  20. Yes I can. Not for all sets but... Very true. And the complex gears were not a goal for the designer. They are a mean of course. A mean to make the set as cheap as possible. 8466 was not designed by a single designer but by a team of several designers. Same for 8458. Here is a list I have : 8043 : Anders Gaasedal Christensen 8053 : Markus Kossman 8258 : Uwe Wabra 8265 : Markus Kossman 8273 : Lars Krogh Jensen 8275 : Markus Kossman 8285 : Uwe Wabra 8292 : Nathanaël Kuipers 8421 : Markus Kossman 8674 : Nathanaël Kuipers 8041 : Uwe Wabra (not 100% sure) 8049 : Lars Krogh Jensen 8284 : Markus Kossman 8063 : Alfred Pedersen & Markus Kossman 8145 : Uwe Wabra 8653 : Uwe Wabra 8386 : Uwe Wabra 8263 : Anders Gaasedal Christensen 8264 : Alfred Pedersen 8274 : Alfred Pedersen 8288 : Markus Kossman & David Bird 8289 : Alfred Pedersen 8294 : Markus Kossman 8295 : Alfred Pedersen 8297 : Lars Krogh Jensen & Uwe Wabra & Nathanaël Kuipers 8420 : Carl Arnese 8435 : Olav Krøigaard 8052 : Alfred Pedersen edit : 8271 : Nathanaël Kuipers
  21. OMG. This book seems awesome ! I want one !
  22. First of all, I don't care if you don't like me. But let's be clear : I have nothing against you. :) And sorry, with the sentence you wrote just before, I thought you were talking about my website. My bad. Yeah, thatt's why I said it was not comparable. Otherwise, I think everything is possible. ;) Oh yes, I have ! I supplied everything a friend needed for him to create building instructions for 2 of my MOCS : http://www.setechnic.com/notice-ST01-P.html http://www.setechnic.com/notice-ST03-P.html And we didn't even wonder if we had to ask some money in exchange of this building instructions. We give what we do for community ; it is a matter of principles. Your fees are indeed very high, especially for a "small personnal website", as you said. But I don't know what kind of subscription you need for people to browse your website decently, what is the traffic on your website, and what's the average price of such a subscription in your country. Here in France, we (SeTechnic) have a dedicated server and a big bandwith (which is necessary) which costs 230€ a year. I think I do pretty much things for community too. I run SeTechnic and update his content with reviews of new models (I know official models are not what you really pay attention to but...). When I see the visit counter, I would say that SeTechnic is pretty much appreciated. Otherwise, I do some UCS MOCs. With the comment I get about them, and without being presumptuous, I would say that they are pretty appreciated too.
  23. Hey, don't be upset. Yeah I know that. Creating a whole new "script" (or whatever) would be complicated. But I guess it is possible to find something already done on the internet, and put it on your website. For example, no one create a forum but take a phpBB and adapt it. :) Selling instruction is something I will never understand (some very very rare exceptions are possible, such as for the NK models which are perfect down to the last part). I get a building instruction for free from CurtisB (Invisible Hand). When he sent the files, I sent him €20. But I consider I didn't buy the instruction. Because he agrees to share it if someone doesn't send money. And IMO, that's very different from selling the instruction. And you get enough money to run your site till 2013 ? So, I guess that if you had given the instruction for free since the beginning, and waiting "fair-play" people to get money, you would have had enough money every year to run your website. Maybe I'm wrong. Or not. I don't have to moderate my website since I'm the only one who can write on it. As for the SeTechnic forum, there are several person to run it. But that's not comparable.
