Large Scale Technic Cars
Anio replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, it can be denied that it is damn impressive ! -
C'mon guy ! Open your eyes ! During the lasts 2 years, it is just plain obvious that the policy of TLG in the SW theme is to put everything on the minifigs. As for not buying Lego sets because they are not accurate, yes, I agree. I do not buy Lego sets Either. I do MOCs. Like many other people. They are accurate. And believe me : they are made out of Lego bricks !

I'm VERY dissapointed with these models. :/ The Ewok attack : the tree looks like a building, not like a tree. It may be the price to pay to have some features : catapult, logs, and opening. Ewoks are very nice. It may be cool to get many of this set to get many part to build trees. The Millenium Falcon : haha, what a fail when I compare it to 4504. -_-' The under side with all the Technic bricks is definitely über ugly. :o The inside looks very sad too. It is grey grey grey and grey. :/ As for the overall design, I can not denied that the designers did not a good job. Like 4504, the model was NOT designed as a whole thing, but as a circle with 2 "horns" at the front. On both sides of the MF, 2x2x2 slopes do not suit well. They look too blocky. The podracers : The minifigs are awesome. Really. The podracer of Sebulba is very well designed with a lot of details, both on the engines and the pod. On the contrary, Ani's podracer is just ridiculous. The shape of the pod is not accurate at all and the engines looks very poor. The trans-clear support are better than the tan support, that's sure, but they are still ugly anyway. The Frigate : The overall design looks good. But : - it is just a remake of 7665 - the ship would have been MUCH more beautyful if it was white+dark red. Cause here, the model is dull. The playbility may be good and the interior well detailled. As for the figs : fail. We got 2 Indians. The Dathomir speeder : Haha, I laugh a lot when I look at this set. I made such models when I was 5 ! This set is among the five ugliest Star Wars sets ever produced by TLG since 1999. We can see that model will have both stickers and printed parts. Generally, I enjoy printed parts. In this case, I would say the less printed parts the better : it will enable to recycle the parts to built something else (I can not even imagine someone keeping this model built for a long time). The figs of this set : no comment. --' The Sith Infiltrator : This is a ship I really do not like for several reasons. But the Lego model is quite accurate (though not perfect). The minifig are very cool ! :D The Geonosian Fighter : I don't care of this set too. We see it only few seconds in the movie. So, it is not at all representative of the star wars universe. But the ship is ok and quite accurate. The minifigs are interesting. But the clone... Next year we will get a rainbow clone. With blue, yellow, red, green, orange, etc. @-@ A clone is a clone. The principle of the clones is that they are supposed to be all the same. Conclusion : TLG HAS TO think to ships first and then to minifigs. It is currently definitely not the case. Until TLG focuses first on minifigs and then design a ship, it will never be able to design good sets.

Kudos Cavegod ! You captured the shape very well and reproduced very well to the color scheme of the real ship ! A display card would make the model even better. Otherwise, how did you attached the studded wings to the studless liftarm ? It would have been perfect if you had succeeded to include a mechanism for the wings.

Actually it was a private joke to Cavegod. :) I let him explain, cause I do not know if I'm allowed to tell. :) edit : now that Cavegod has presented his project in the SW forum, I can explain what does S******r mean : Sandcrawler.

I'm fed up with answering to stupid messages. --' Of course, I do not ask credits when a guy has assembled 2 parts like on a MOC I did. I do not give credit either in that case. (although sometime it is necessary ; the DSNOT for example). But with a MOC and its overall design you can easily see if the builder has taken some ideas on another similar MOC. And in that case, credit is absolutely necessary, IMO.

Models for 2H of 2011

Using one topic for the 8110 would make things easier to read everything about the model, wouldn't it ? -

No. It's 9L. -
Thanks for the pics ! A few words about the model : On the 4th photo, it seems there is a U-joint just on the left of the battery box. Thus, I would not be surprised if there is a pendular axle. It is strange to see that the 4th switch will be used for the B model. The engine will be a L4. One more thing : the roof seems to be stressed (not totally horizontal). Don't you find ?

I REALLY hope that the more TLG will struggle against those who show the news sets, the more people will share the leaks they know. Even if TLG pisses us off on that, TLG is bound to fail. haha. -
I also demand credit when people take inspiration on my MOCs (as I do when I take ideas on other people's work). It's a matter of respect.

+1 -
With Cad Bane and the new Quinlan and Eeth, we can now play cow boys and indians.
-
Yeah, I would say that 3/4 (maybe even more) of the 1x16 technic bricks can not be seen from outside.

No. Most of new parts (the yellow panels, among others) that are very rare on BL (and so very expensive) cost bugger all with Lego Direct. What you must do is just buying the right part at the right place. -
Worse : when I do MOCs, I use that part quite often cause it is damn useful : But it is also VERY weak/brittle. I'm very careful when I manipulate my parts, but I've already broken many of them. Does anyone else ever experienced such a problem with this part ?
