  1. That's exactly what happened to me. haha I didn't have much interest in the ship, but designing it was a lot of fun. And I am happy with the result. :)
  2. Hope you are right. I do, really. Cause with 1 switch (battery box), 2 levers (gearboxes), and 4 pneumatic switchs, moreover located everywhere on the truck, I dread the controls not to be very convenient...
  3. I won't translate everything. Here is the part that I consider the most important / relevant :
  4. Nothing special on that side. Teeth are beveled only on the "grey side".
  5. Except the differences I pointed out, and as far as I can see, it is very similar to this turntable : Another difference, which has little impact IMO : the hole in the middle of the new turntable has no teeth. The old one (pic above) has 24 teeth.
  6. The turntable itself is pretty much the same, except that : - the upper side of the teeth are beveled - it has 60 teeth (the old one has 56 teeth if I am correct) No plastic ball. It is made out of 2 big parts like the old one, that you put togther.
  7. Well, midnight doesn't mean a lot without time zone. :-S Thank you for your very relevant message. If you can't get over the missing stickers, then I am very sorry for you. FYI, I offer to Lego fans the sets I get for review through TechLUG contests. So, I do my best to keep them as mint as possible. I doubt many people do the same with the sets they get for free from Lego... Oh, by the way, the nasty guy has another review for you. And without sticker. :-O http://www.techlug.f...lan-reindl-2015 edit : http://www.techlug.fr/review-lego-technic/42043/mercedes-benz-arocs-3245-42043-markus-kossman-2015
  8. Quality is improving. Some time ago, we would have been compelled to wait 183 messages before reading something like that. Kudos !
  9. Thanks guys. ;) This project was not that difficult indeed. The most important thing here is to understand what is the ship in order to adopt the right approach and tackle the model correctly.
  10. I certainely could. I just don't want to, as I do not consider it very relevant. I mean, having some compromise regarding details, shapes etc on a "small" size ship is understandable. But doing a 2 meter long ship which proportions are still totally off, what's the point ? http://mocpages.com/...5708/1200336097 There are 2 IH that I think are interesting (they more or less have the same size) : - http://www.techlug.f...96.html#p134696 - http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=406310 The thing with that size is that when it comes to designing the middle of the ship, I am pretty sure I will be screwed. Achieving a good design at this scale seems impossible here : http://img15.hosting...948DSCN3411.jpg Even Kelso couldn't figure out how to build that section nicely, yet at a much bigger scale. Curtis Black model work much better here : http://www.techlug.f...ele/ST07/12.JPG
  11. Thanks. :) That is one of the key of a good looking model. I call it the "simplexity". The ability to catch the spirit of the model, to deconstruct and reinterpret it, and to turn it into bricks in a way as simple as possible. If you think that pure technique is fundamental to achieve good MOCs, then think again. (edit : don't get me wrong, I didn't say that technical skills are useless /edit ) True. The balance of colors, textures, is very important. It is important to bring consistency to the model. Nah. The thing is that this project didn't last a long time. Oo Not surprising when we consider part count : 75096 is only made out of 500-600 elements. ;)
  12. I used Curtis work indeed. That said, if I did so, there is some good reason : I think the model looks good at this scale size. It is hard to explain, but to make it short and understandable : For example, if the B-Wing UCS 10227 is 66cm long is for one good reason : you can't design correctly a UCS B-Wing of 50 cm long or 85 cm long. The ship, its shapes, the accuracy you need, the flow, the building standards, etc lead you to conclud that one size is better (more convenient, if you will) than others. Same goes for other UCS sets and many other sets. Recently, F40 10248 is 27 cm long. With that length, the car is maybe not at the same scale of set X or Y. But the thing is that designing, for example, a 22 cm long F40, just wouldn't work. Or at least, it wouldn't work as well as a 27 cm long version. Each model (ship, car, helicopter, whatever) is a different project with different goals, limits, compromises, different spirits to catch, etc. You can very hardly set a scale and say "I will do all my models with that scale". A design process is deeper than that. So sorry, a IH to scale with Venator is not on my todo list.
  13. EDIT Professional instruction now available for sale : You can email me at setechnic@gmail.com /EDIT Hi, Here is my UCS Sith Infiltrator. UCS Sith Infiltrator by ANio, sur Flickr UCS Sith Infiltrator by Anio, sur Flickr UCS Sith Infiltrator by Anio, sur Flickr I designed this MOC thanks to one EB member : NNOPMOC. He asked for a UCS version of the Sith Infiltrator 2 weeks ago : http://www.eurobrick...25#entry2239860 I can't say that I am a big fan of this ship or that I find it epic either. But well... I thought "Why not after all ?" So I gave it a try. And all I can say is that I really enjoyed designing it. :) After 4 days of work on the project, the model was more or less designed. I ordered the parts I need. When I get them, I spent another entire day to do adjustements, etc. Some new BL orders, and the model was complete. The model is not very complexe regarding building techniques. Some SNOT here and there. The nose was a bit tricky. The MOC is made out of 1194 elements and is 47 cm long. So it is not big, neither small. Wings can fold, with appropriate stops in both directions. 14. This promotional set is IMO way better than usual. It looks nice.
  15. Denied. a) Pushing a model with tracks is a pain. It often slips. Driving it is more convenient. b) If you drive the wheels in opposite directions and hold the superstructure in the same time, you can make to chassis rotate on itself. That's nice, and very convenient sometimes. I can not see any avantages in motorising superstructure and having both tracks linked. It is not intuitive at all. Just consider the superstructure : the lever controlling that function is located on the superstructure. This means that when you engage it, the model reacts like if it were out of control. Indeed, the levers are rotating with it.
  16. The easiest thing to do is to have 1 M for each track, and to rotate the superstructure manually. And it would certainly make the model easier to control / play with. I don't understand why the model is not designed like that...
  17. Yes. Nowadays, good promotion can surpass talent. And it sucks.
  18. Thank you for the pics. ;)
  19. Indeed. Above all, my point was to not create a new thread. :)
  20. And when you have a question like "Should I pick 42000 or 42039 or 42008 ?", do not create a new thread. This kind of question adds 0 (zero, ZERO) value to the forum. Just ask you question in an already existing thread of 42000, 42039, or 42008, and when you have your answer, move on.
  21. Hardest part IMO : nothing to do with pure technique. Forget about it. Pure technique won't make you do a great model. A good model is much deeper than pure technique only... The hardest part IMO is to catch the spirit of the model. To understand its ins and outs, to know what to do and what not to do, to understand how mechanical aspects and final look aspects work together as a whole thing. Catching the spirit of the model, setting good specifications, adopting the right approach, thinking out of the box, understanding the concept of compromise, trying to simplexify the whole design... No doubt for me : the hardest part lies in the method.
  22. So you seriously expect a 650 part UCS SW set to be sold at 35€/$ ?
  23. Please, be serious... Please, be serious... ²
  24. I like it a lot. Day one purchase. :p
