  1. It is standard bricks, and a static build. It is easier to make something bigger. However, look closely at 10179. It is 5 times bigger than a regular MF. One could think "Awesome, it will have 5 times more detailed interior !". No. It just doesn't work like that. At 5k parts, you face the limit of the system too. You have to build very strong, or the model collapse on itself. And so, there is no interior (which IMO is not a big deal). I doubt it. All the fun about 41999 is to drive obstacles with a remote. The winch is a nice touch, but it is not what add value to the model. As for pump, pneumatics, and so on, why would it be necessary to have everything in one single model ? A Lego crawler doesn't seem to require any of this stuff. If you want this stuff, buy a crane or something like that. Definitely not. There are tons of models with a $300+ price range and above. The parts set the limit. Look outriggers of 42009 or arm of 8258 and 42009. Or steering of 8110. It works, but everyone can see that they are almost at the limit. It appears to me that there is quite a misunderstanding of what is a Lego set. Complexity is not a goal in itself (and thanks god, it will never be). On any set. They are just a way to achieve functions.
  2. I bet I can. Everyone knows this will never happen in the next 20 years. At 2,000 parts, they already face the limit of the system...
  3. I know from this that it is impossible to buy a supercar.
  4. Unstructured mess and real complexity are 2 very different things. I could sum up this difference with 1 word, though : skill.
  5. This new look lacks the US spirit IMO. It is too futuristic for a car that consider as a descendant of the famous GT40. I prefer the "regular" Ford GT.
  6. What do stickers change on wheel arches ? On the windscreen ? On the paneling behind the cockpit and on the side ? On the headlights ? Stickers have never been panacea and will never be. On any set. A poorly designed model is a poorly designed model...
  7. Well, you know, there is something fun about 42039. Generally, when I do announce a review on the frontpage of TechLUG, I try to choose a photo where the model looks decent. Indeed, my goal is not to slash a model on the frontpage, but just to announce it. Guess what ? With 42039, I could NOT find any good looking picture. Wherever I look at it, the model looks terrible.
  8. Well, generally, people avoid wasting money, don't they ?
  9. I don't know. It maybe be executed with LA. But not so sure TLG will combine pneumatics and LA on the same model (remember 42008 :-S) It may use the new long pneumatic cylinder, or some liftarm (with worm gear etc). As far I can see, the telescopic section on the arm is done with the long cylinders. As for the outriggers, there are 2 of them. Located just behind the 2nd axle. Horizontal movement is made with rack (motorized, maybe). Vertical movement is made with worm gear + 8t. Not a clue regarding fake engine. The model seems to have full suspension on every axle. This may joepardize the design of a fake engine given that suspension + transmission take a lot of room.
  10. No pic that I can post, sadly. :(
  11. The model is not RC. 1 L motor. With gear box, you can switch between : - mechanical function(s) (tipper, and maybe rotating turntable like 8110 ; I'd prefer it is manual though) - pneumatic functions (arm)
  12. Brace yourself. The MB truck apparently has a couple of longer pneumatic cylinders.
  13. TechLUG, what else ? FYI, reviews of Pipasseyoyo MOCs : http://www.techlug.f.../topic6897.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic7285.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic7678.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic8141.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic8336.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic8650.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic8812.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic9034.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic9299.html http://www.techlug.f.../topic9396.html (I like this one a lot)
  14. Very easy. Buy some bricks 1x1 with headlight and a couple of plate 1x4. This is very basic SNOT technique. Regarding that part, I wish I had updated the model before the instruction was released
  15. Worse. UCS. Ever.
  16. Hello, You are probably right saying my Slave 1 is crappy. I consider it myself very very meh. That said, regarding many aspects, 75060 is worse. You obviously focused on the final rating and didn't read the whole review where every single aspects is explained. Only the tail and cockpit are worse the UCS acronyme. When I see this : + color of the skirt + color of the windscreen + color of engines + strength of the tail, I can not reasonnably rate the model above average. 75060 is very far from 10212 and 10179 which I both rated at 5/5. Those both sets have basically no pitfalls. 75060 has. A lot.
  17. Yes, I wrote it. I tried to be as exhaustive as possible on every aspect. Translator may mess up sometimes. Some things are tricky to explain in French, so I can't imagine that a translator rewords everything correctly (for example, when I explain how the wings use the flexibility of Lego bricks). If you need any help or don't understand some of the things I explained, please, ask. One more thing you may not understand : when I say "Ackbar would say "it's a trap" seeing the door at the back", it's a pun. :p Cause this kind of door is generally called "trappe" in French.
  18. Nice. :) Do not hesitate to share pictures. :)
  19. Hello all, Sorry to bump this thread. But I will (once again) need the help of some of you. :) Would you accept to report this seller : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/LEGO-STAR-WARS-6210-JABBAS-SAIL-BARGE-CUSTOM-UCS-STICKER-PLAQUE-/141477866319?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item20f0bceb4f He sells most of the stickers I designed ( here : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/LEGO-STAR-WARS-8018-ARMORED-ASSAULT-TANK-AAT-CUSTOM-UCS-STICKER-PLAQUE-/141477952682?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item20f0be3caa and here http://www.ebay.fr/itm/LEGO-STAR-WARS-7665-REPUBLIC-CRUISER-RADIANT-VII-CUSTOM-UCS-STICKER-PLAQUE-/141477956777?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item20f0be4ca9 and many more). And more or less all those who are familiar with my work know that my stickers are available for free here : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=531321 Thank for your time.
  20. There is something wrong. 220€ means about 1,800 - 2,000 parts How can a TIE Fighter have that many parts ?
  21. Look at page 7, and email me. ;)
  22. Seems MUCH more playable than previous modulars. That's cool. :)
  23. I am not sure at all about that. The pool looks great, with very clever use of the new hinges to make the column. The office is fine, but however not much in the "modular building spirit". I mean, it is kind of a grimy building... :/ The barber, ok. It is simple, but ok. But hell, all the light blue building... They took a model they designed in the 90's and switched the colors ? Oo
