Very nice car transport truck

You might be interested to read Pipasseyoyo's presentation : http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic9827.html It is in French. Here is the translation : http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&u=www.techlug.fr/ -
huhu. I am not surprised. I went to a small exhibition last week end and I presented this UCS C3PO. Many people want to touch it. I had to look after the MOC from the very start of the exhibition, to the very end. No need to say that this is the kind of model that would not survive in a longer exhibition... Too fragile, and in the end, you are tired to look after it 24/7.

ESB Imperial Probe Droid - Empire Needs Your Support Now
Anio replied to icemann's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am not a big fan of the probe droid. And in fact, I don't really understand how that many people can be. I mean, a probe droid is just a ugly gray thing that we hardly see in the SW movies. Whatever. You did a great job. You captured the shape and the details very well. You model seems also cleverly built. ;) Supported (something that I rarely do :p ).- 31 replies

EDIT : Professional building instruction available for sale. See the end of the first post. You can email me at setechnic@gmail.com /EDIT Hello, I would like to present you my latest MOC. A UCS C3PO. UCS C-3PO by Anio, sur Flickr UCS C-3PO by Anio, sur Flickr UCS C-3PO by Anio, sur Flickr UCS C-3PO by Anio, sur Flickr UCS C-3PO by Anio, sur Flickr Before I start, here are some interesting links : - FlickR gallery : https://www.flickr.c...57657124074835/ - Brickshelf gallery : http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=553927 The MOC is made out of 756 parts. All visible parts are chromed. There is SNOT more or less everywhere, from the head to the feet. The MOC is fully articulated, excepted on the knees. All the joins don't make the model more playable, but it gives a more realistic look. I am quite proud of the head which was a big challenge. The waist is made with "custom" elements. It is a flexible pattern. Bricks here would have make the model too bulky. Some close up pictures : No need to say that the price of such a model is way beyond a regular model. But it is worth it anyway. :p I worked quite a long time on this model. I would like to thank : - Frousmoul for producing a professional instruction - Philo, for creating the parts of the waist in 3D - Efjie for printing the mouth on the head - and Blakbird for the 3D renders Thank you guys for your help on this collaborative project ! ;) The build, modular like most of my MOCs : The instruction : Given that it is a very collector item, the instruction is sold 30€. I also consider that price to be a fair amount of money given the time it required to produce such a model and instruction. As always, it is a HD professional instruction, and I would like to congratulate Frousmoul once again. Sticker, inventory and the pattern of the waist is included. To buy it, you can PM me on Eurobricks, on Youtube, on FlickR, or email me at setechnic@gmail.com Video : Hope you like it. :)

I was about to post the very same post Conchas has written. :) -
I already had seen it... But hell... I am about to cry... It just looks so nice, everything is so carefully built...

I agree that many of today's sets do lack simplexity. In Lego, I would define simplexity as the ability to deconstruct a complex design and to reorganize it into simpler process. As every set is first designed for kids, simplexity is a key concept that every models has to have, from the City line to the the Technic line. Kuipers models are IMO the best example of what simplexity is in Technic. Look at concept car NK01 chassis. It does seems so simple, but it was very hard to come up with such a simplified model. Very few AFOL do have the skills to design things like this. Simplexity also lies in the look, where it is important to captures the key line of the model, and to reproduce them with few parts. 8674 is a good example. Modular design is generally a very good clue of simplexity. I try to achieve this on my MOCs, and I have to say that this method works damn good. But it does require good planning. I think that many of the recent Technic do fail to that purpose, and do try to "compensate" with very heavy setups to impress. 42008 is obviously the best example. It is so poorly structured... 8295 is not better. 8110 is not so good either. It makes the model difficult to "read/decrypt" for a newbie. I am afraid that 42043 will be the same : 1 switch (battery box, or actual PF switch), 1 lever to choose between pneumatical and mechanical functions, 1 lever to choose tipper or outriggers, maybe another one for the turntable, and 4 pneumatic switches... ouch ! This model will very probably be a pain to play with. Only motorizing the compressor (arm and tipper ; no LA), and making other functions manual would have make the model so simplexer... Never forget that complexity is not a goal in itself. Saint Exupery's quote is of course a very good wording of what simplexity is. I made this quote my motto for a while now. =)

Thanks for pointing out this auction. It is a very good example of what can be done IMO : 1) The guy sell the model, and I am fine with it if he ask a reasonnable amount of money for it. Which is the case here. 2) He gives credit 3) He doesn't offer the instruction and explain how to get it. So yes, everybody wins with an auction written like that. On the contrary, look at this : The very same model is sold by another guy at almost 300€ : http://www.ebay.fr/i...=item2edd3b0c60 One day, I have seen someone selling my Sebulba's podracer for 1200€. Or even worse. This jackass prints all the UCS stickers I designed and sell them on ebay : http://www.ebay.fr/i...=item1e9780391d FYI : A) They are all available for free here : http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=531321 B) The price this guy is asking for 1 sticker is almost equivalent to the price I ask for 1 complete professionnal instruction... Paul has a good point. You can't win. You just have to accept that some people are morons who have no problem with the idea of taking advantage of other people's work.
