It does look cool. There are a lot of nice idea in it. I am not much into EU. Is it extracted from the EU or from your imagination ? :D

True. I think 75060 and 75095 are disasters. edit : well, to be more specific, I think 75060 is a disaster and 75095 is really very expensive/big for what it is. Cause technically speaking, I can't indeed say that 75095 is poorly designed. It looks pretty accurate.

A 1,000 part set sold 120 € ?

Was anybody expecting 1,700 parts for a TIE ? I still don't understand why they went for such a big model...

200€ for 2 wings and a blocky ball. Ouch.

42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245
Anio replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Couldn't agree more. Licenses for Technic line must be close to 0$. The difference between a 42043 with and without license can be sum up to the MB logo, and, maybe, the shape of the calender... A 42043 without license would not be an Arocs 3245 but a big truck with big crane and big tipper. Which is about the same. License adds no value to the product. I can not imagine TLG paying for such a license. Nor the customers paying a premium for that. -
Which is stronger?
Anio replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you have a bit more space than 1 stud wide (cause they will do more than 1 stud when rotating), parts 32034 and 18948 might be even stronger than build with regular axle joiner. I mean, for a given length, you will have less connections between parts (they are 3L whereas axle joiner is 2L). -
If you are a newbie at Lego Technic, build this set. Keep in mind how poorly engineered it is, and never reproduce any of this stuff in any of your MOCs. Then, maybe one day you will be a great MOCer.

I ordered a new sticker this morning at TLG. The guy told me he was compelled to ship the sticker (1 page) WITH the instruction (300 pages !), because both items are registred with the same ref. Did anyone experience the same "problem" when ordering 75060 sticker ? I mean... they will probably ship something worth 20€, while I just need a 1 or 2€ sticker... Oo

First, you just need txt ST04 for the Venator. As for your other questions : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37663&st=250#entry1966929

[MOC] UT-AT - Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport
Anio replied to Mangetsu's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good job ;) I am not a big fan of the vehicle, but you did an impressive job regarding the angles. You captured them very nicely. I think you could do something better for the windscreen. Using felt pen is kind of meh. :/ With some SNOT, I am pretty sure you could achieve the grey line. As for the red lines, I am not sure they are absolutely necessary. -
You did a great job. You chose the right scale, and so you made the right MOC. Not too big, not too small. You have a lot of details, and anywhere I look at, I never have the felling that the MOC is empty/lacking something.

Note that the structure (hollow container) supplied in the model can be used to lenghten the main boom. Actually, you have 2 options : either you use the section to play with IT, or you use it to have a bigger crane. In any case, this is not a B-model. It is just the A-model that can be slightly modified.

Who cares about resolution ? Did you ever see a retailer catalog ? Pics are very very small, prelim, with generally no stickers and no printed parts. You could have 24 M pixels with your device, it would not improve the quality of the pic. The pics we have are crappy cause what is printed on retailers catalog is crappy. It is as simple as that... edit : the prelim pics we have are zoomed in a lot. Take the pic, divide height by 2, and you get more or less what you can see on a retailer catalog.

I was expecting such an answer. Regarding 42009, they just displayed some preliminary sets (not so prelim ; they were very close to the final product) which would do the job. But the model itself, at Lego DK, is complete, with the final version. As for 42039, the retailer catalog is distributed in August/September, so it may be done in July, and so, the guys send a picture from a prelim made in June or maybe earlier. At the end of July, at the latest, the final version of the model is complete.

The final model is complete for a while... After the final design is approved, instructions have to be done, then you have to set all the machines to produce the set, etc, then you have to deliver it all over the world. At this time, the model is complete. No doubt about it. I talked with a designer some time ago. And he was telling me that he was always lost when people were talking to him and saying something like "the new sets of 2014". It was missleading for him (and probably for many other designers), because a new set of 2014 is : a) not new for him b) not a 2014 set. It was designed 1 year earlier : 2013.

I do not set the limit at 2,000. It was just an example. But for sure, a 5k parts would be way above that limit. At 3k, serious problems tend to appear with gears. As for the MOCs we see everywhere, they are maybe very good as MOCs, but certainely not as sets. Just a reminder : a set is a mass produced item. Madoca's truck is certainly very well exectuted. Nice shapes, realistic look, cool functions, and so on. But as a set, and sorry to sound harsh, it is nothing more than a bunch of panels. Nothing more. There is not a chance that Lego ever release a set like that. Not a single chance. Lego can not afford to release a model which has a 600 part (more ?) box with 2 features. Not a chance it would sell well. Not to mention that the building experience of such a box would be terrible. (building 10212 wings is already a pain in the a**). As I wrote earlier in this thread, I notice that few people seem to understand what is a Lego set. You have to look at the big picture.

It is standard bricks, and a static build. It is easier to make something bigger. However, look closely at 10179. It is 5 times bigger than a regular MF. One could think "Awesome, it will have 5 times more detailed interior !". No. It just doesn't work like that. At 5k parts, you face the limit of the system too. You have to build very strong, or the model collapse on itself. And so, there is no interior (which IMO is not a big deal). I doubt it. All the fun about 41999 is to drive obstacles with a remote. The winch is a nice touch, but it is not what add value to the model. As for pump, pneumatics, and so on, why would it be necessary to have everything in one single model ? A Lego crawler doesn't seem to require any of this stuff. If you want this stuff, buy a crane or something like that. Definitely not. There are tons of models with a $300+ price range and above. The parts set the limit. Look outriggers of 42009 or arm of 8258 and 42009. Or steering of 8110. It works, but everyone can see that they are almost at the limit. It appears to me that there is quite a misunderstanding of what is a Lego set. Complexity is not a goal in itself (and thanks god, it will never be). On any set. They are just a way to achieve functions.
