  1. September 4, December/January, February, May the 4th, July... Why call them waves any more? It's just a neverending barrage of SW LEGO releases!
  2. Done, but somehow I'm short 7 pieces that I actually need, and have many extra parts that I don't. I guess the Bricklink inventory is off? Already ordered the 7 pieces (3 lots) from someone fairly local, and stole two of the lots from another model. :)
  3. OT, but... Most amazing park I've been to is Tokyo DisneySea. I hear good stuff about Phantasialand in Germany, but I haven't made it there yet. My favorite steel coaster is Millenium Force at Cedar Point in Ohio, and my favorite wood coaster is Balder at Liseberg in Sweden. So is this coaster system real LEGO, or a knockoff that works with it?
  4. Done through step 90, and although it looks good, I can't imagine how it made it through the review process! There's so many panels/subassemblies that aren't held on by anything! If you turned it upside down, half the top would just slide out.
  5. Yup, Venus is at Space World near Hakata, and is probably my favorite coaster in Japan. All the rides there are space themed, even the water rides. I'd love to know more about the LEGO coaster.
  6. My other hobby is roller coasters... Been on over 1100, at over 400 amusement parks. Yes, there are quite a few space themed roller coasters, including a couple with crashed spacecraft and at least one with a full sized space shuttle replica. (Not crashed, that one is in launch pad stack configuration.)
  7. LOL. That's getting to be funny... How many retailers can spill the beans before the actual announcement?
  8. How about because Threepio isn't currently available in any set below $250? Ewok village, Sandcrawler, Death Star, and two of those are out of stock, with Death Star possibly is retired except for whatever stock is out there... and mini-spoiler, but if R2 is with Luke and Luke's TFA appearance is as limited as rumor suggests, he very well may not be in any TFA sets.... and we haven't seen 3PO outside of a single image, so same could be true for him, as far as limited screen time, too.
  9. Um... Whole cities? Anyone able to give a better translation than Google? New York City Building and Construction Toys?
  10. IP address would narrow that down to a single country lickety split.
  11. Yes, I saw that too, but a shared panel between Star Wars, Marvel and whatever else Disney has going on in the live action department doesn't seem like an opportunity for major reveals. Even if at 2 hours, it's one of the longer panels, Pixar gets the same amount of time by itself.
  12. Big Jet? Little Einsteins seems outside of the Technic demographic...
  13. Also: opinions should be based in facts. As none of us have managed multi-million-dollar international marketing campaigns, as well as in various ways, suggesting that they are wrong to have not released images at this point isn't based in fact, but personal preference. I promise that Disney has experience in just this sort of thing and hires those who do. Pretty sure they know better than any of us how best to proceed. Would I like to see pics? Sure, but it won't kill me if I don't see anything between now and release day. Plus, the instant the pics drop, a bunch of people will complain that angles are wrong, there are too many exposed studs (and not enough) all based on a couple tenths of a second of screen time. Why expose themselves to that sort of nonsense? We've already seen exactly that for Ren's Shuttle, the new X-wing and the updated Falcon. What we think looks cool on September 4th may be proven to be horribly inaccurate and / or dull when December arrives, and vice versa. Seeing set shots now is almost completely devoid of context to base assessments upon.
  14. No, not worrisome at all. It does however, reinforce the idea that 'leaks' are as carefully controlled as any marketing attempt traditionally thought of as such. TLG has put sets on shelves that we never saw a picture of before they were for sale, and they sold just fine. You know the prices and the set names. Budget accordingly. If something you thought you'd want doesn't strike your fancy, don't buy it. If something you didn't budget for does strike you as desirable, don't buy it day one. Wait a payday or two, then buy it. /suggestions for behaving like an adult oops. Too late. Tantrum not averted. D23 Expo schedule has NOTHING on it about Star Wars at all. Take that for what you will, but it seems to me that TFA is on its own marketing schedule, independent of what the rest of Disney is up to. https://d23.com/d23-...iday-august-14/ (Saturday and Sunday after the jump)
  15. Droid Escape Pod: typically the only way to get Threepio in an under-$100 set. The list seems light... Not sure if it's because of the extra wave in September, or because the list is only partial... ...and definitely like the idea of a multi-part Bespin. Hopefully they do go that route.
  16. Here's my idea: Use the 'curving LEGO' for the building. You should be able to anchor it in a couple places besides the ends, just by using 1x2 and 2x2 jumpers. Making the building conform to the terrain is pretty much impossible, so don't. Build the terrain separately from the building. As the terrain gets a bit taller, the building will disappear behind it. If you can match the curve of the terrain to that of the building closely enough with hinges and slopes, it won't matter that they aren't directly connected. Plus, with the overhanging roof, nobody will be able to look straight down into the gap. You'll know it's there, but it shouldn't be as visible (if at all) from the angle available.
  17. You may be better off brickbuilding a door instead of trying to use a pre-moulded one. With brick-height hinges, you could absolutely do the normal, sliding-partition type door found on most airplane lavatories and cockpits, and those hinges aren't so stiff that they wouldn't open easily. There are modified plates that could be guide rails for the door, too.
  18. ...no... Their responsibility as a company is to make a profit. One part of how they do that by selling products related to the movie/IP. They will be releasing numerous products in support of the movie, and will most likely turn in profits well in excess of a billion USD. (Unless the film is somehow worse than Freddy Got Fingered, they'll be making half a billion on box office receipts alone.) What they choose to do to market said products is not a responsibility to the customer, it is a responsibility to their corporate partners, such as TLG, Hasbro, TRU, etc. They believe that the best way to maximize profits on the sets is to delay and tease for the time being. The stores know what they will be getting to sell, that's all they really had to do. We will see the sets when the House of Mouse and TLG say it's time, and I'm pretty sure they are behind the better part of the 'leaks' that come out, anyways. <Definitely most curious about the FO Transport... We really only think that we know which ship in the previews it is, we could be completely wrong.
  19. Are you printing directly on the bricks somehow?
  20. At the scale you seem to be working in, there are a couple options for that curved building. Are you familiar with 10179 engine mods? I think that concept would work pretty well for what you need. It isn't 'legal' of course, but it definitely works. If you insist on a 100% legal build, you're going to need a whole lot of these in the appropriate colors: (And tiles in the middle where things are 'off-stud'.
  21. Mostly positive. Some 99% of all feedback is positive, but I'm not sure how NSS and NPB factor into feedback. Usually I get too many as opposed to too few, but when the count was under, the seller always made it right by either shipping the missing parts at no additional cost, or refunding my PayPal immediately. I've had one occasion where the part received wasn't what I ordered, and I'm waiting to see how she resolves that. Finally, I've had one occasion where an order was lost in shipment. That is being worked out right now, too. I've used BL to make Green Grocer, upgrade 42009 to the Juergen's Ultimate version and most recently, I've amassed all of the parts for the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon; together, that's more than 50 orders and @ 7000 parts? 2 problems in all of that isn't too bad, considering these are people selling parts out of their homes.
  22. Many people tag the MOCs they make with the UCS tag, but few are worthy. This looks GREAT.
  23. I'm waiting on the last lot (light grey (not LBG) levers) to arrive, but building is well underway: Steps 1-49 are completely done, the first lever shows up in step 50. From there, I'm essentially done through step 60 apart from two levers... But it turns out someone sent me the wrong part... I ordered the 30, white 2x2 modified plates with pin, with studs; and I received the ones with 'antistuds' instead. It's been too long since I got them, so I just reordered them again from another seller. They start showing up in step 60/14. Without the white plates, I can't attach the mandible top and bottom coverings, preventing me from proceeding, so I've been gradually doing the sub-builds after step 61 and just not attaching them. Also, the engine mod I'm doing, I ordered 2 of a part based on what I'd been told, but I now know that 4 of that part are needed, those have been ordered too. Finally... WOW. I knew this thing was big, but since I'd never seen one in person, I really wasn't prepared for how big it really is!
  24. Not always. The first we ever heard of the current MTT was when it showed up on store shelves in Czech or somewhere near there.
