  1. How do we know this isn't the figure from the blind-bags?
  2. In what image can you see it having red hips? I certainly can't tell from those two Walmart pictures.
  3. @ikba, not that this isn't an interesting topic worthy of discussion, but how did you dig up this topic from 2008?
  4. Looks like the Turban piece in white. These are awesome! I was taken most with the pom-pom birds. They remind me of the bird with hair in its eyes from Jungle Book!
  5. The good-cop bad-cop joke is funny on its own too. He looks so cute and has a sweet voice, and then goes back to being nasty on a perfect comedic beat. That's funny on its own, and LEGO fans get a little something extra. That's how it actually is with most good kids' movies these days. Kids find them amusing, and adults get an extra layer of humor that the kids don't understand. Only here, it's that the general public will (hopefully) find the film amusing, and LEGO fans get an extra layer of humor.
  6. How can you use a normal black bracket piece as a cigar? I'd say the best part for a cigar would be a Clone Trooper helmet light attachment.I'm really not feeling that batcopter. It looks pretty weird and slapped together. I think it's the fact that the designer was going for a Bat shape that just throws it off for me. That shape works for a lot of things, but not this helicopter. The bat-crop-duster-whatever-thing in the Steamroller set looks pretty cool, though. The scuba Batman looks fairly strange, but I can't wait to find out what the unmasked face will be like. That should be cool. And a Penguin variant, for cheap, so how can one go wrong.
  7. That cape is a custom, as stated in the auction description. I'm not sure he's getting a cape in the set.
  8. This movie looks too amazing.
  9. I've got to say I love these sketches. They may be 'sketchy,' but I can perfectly picture what LEGO they convey. They're a lot nicer than those awful computer-render prelims, honestly
  10. Gavin Hood didn't have very much control over what was going on. He's said that he sometimes got pages the night before he was supposed to shoot them. It's probably not his fault much.It would be nice to see another X-Men film that didn't center on Wolverine. First Class showed it could be done well (even if the film was a little campy, but that's ok). So it is at least partially Singer's fault that we get another Wolverine-centric movie. At the same time, The Wolverine was totally great, and Wolverine is cool, so this movie could be very good. It would just be nice to see some non-Wolverine X-Men action. This trailer honestly didn't do it for me that much - it looked like it was mostly one or two scenes with a few flashes of things cut in. I'm still hyped for the movie, though.
  11. LEGO just can't win. They make sets based on films (Man of Steel and Iron Man 3) and everyone complains that they should make sets based on more classic looks of the characters. So now it sounds like, at least on the Marvel side, they are making a couple of sets that will feature more classic characters (since the cartoons are a lot closer to the comics than are films), and everyone complains that they aren't making any film sets. Such is life. Complaints about the abundance of Batman sets seem a bit more reasonable, since it would be nice to see DC sets that aren't Batman. But the Marvel sets - I just don't get it. Most of us haven't even SEEN the two non-Spidey sets. If the sets are lousy, fine, complain, but they also could be fairly awesome. I look forward to them.
  12. Guys, spoilers for a trailer, really? If people can't handle watching trailers before they see movies, I don't think there will be any reason for them to come into the Marvel Cinematic Universe topic anyway. This trailer looks very bland to me. The scenery is bland, the colors are bland, and the story is bland. I don't think the movie will actually be bland, necessarily, but this trailer sure doesn't get me hyped for it. There were things I liked, though, like Black Widow. I'm really glad she'll play a sizable role in this movie, since she's fun and has a lot of possibilities. I also like that SHIELD is actually in it, even though right now, SHIELD seems rather bland. I'm hoping this was just a lackluster trailer (which often happens), and isn't indicative of the quality of the movie.
  13. Captain America is just more obviously tied to SHIELD than any of the others in the MCU. All of the other characters have their own people to go to, but Capn is a fish out of water and doesn't have a home. It just makes sense for SHIELD to be in the movie. Plus, Robert Redford is playing some high-up SHIELD person and the movie is supposed to be a political spy thriller. I don't think it will necessarily be tied into the next Avengers, but we'll see.Personally, I quite like that it's got more crossovers going on than did IM3. It'll be nice to see that building the universe has actually meant something going forward. The way IM3 tried to deal with what had come before bothered me immensely. Tony's little 'fits' were horribly done and pretty much completely out of character, and there was no reason why he couldn't call some friends for help, or at least go to Bruce Banner instead of middle-of-nowhere-annoying-kid-land. The post-credits scene with Banner was my favorite thing in the movie (and one of the best things in the Avengers, to boot). I have a lot of hope that Winter Soldier will handle this much better (and at least Thor doesn't need to handle it, since Thor has his own fantasy land going on).
  14. The hat is on the front of the LR train. I believe the question is if it's in a new color on Wu, or if it's the same color as it appears on the train (which I think was the dark metallic color?).
  15. Well, that's why the LEGO sets are based on the movies, and not the 'making of' the movie. It doesn't matter how big the actors are or how they were filmed. There's trickery (read: movie magic) involved to get the Hobbits and dwarves to look little, too. What he's showing is how big Beorn is going to appear in the film. I'm not surprised that Beorn is regular-fig sized, though. So has been making Chewie a regular fig forever, even though in the Star Wars films he's quite a bit taller than regular people. Even the new version of Chewie (made since the invention of the Woody arms and legs) is going to be the same size.
  16. The purple fedora Joker is rumored to be from the Steam Roller set. But there's also rumored to be a Joker in the Juniors Batcave set, which I think is what daniel gourhan22 was talking about. That Joker very well could be the same old plain one.
  17. There's no way dark blue could turn into looking like that, no matter the lighting. That's definitely a different blue.
  18. It is photoshopped. Republican said himself that he altered it in MS Paint (so it's MS Painted I suppose). This shows that, if the picture we got is a misprint, there could still be a little hope left for this helmet. But still, it's way too large and bobble-head-y. Iron Man's helmet made enough sense because it needed an opening function. This just has no excuse.
  19. The prelim picture drawn-fig artwork had this helmet being a lot shorter and the visor a lot wider. The visor print could be wrong here, but I doubt the mould will be different, and this mould is just too tall.
  20. I think the bear-brothers were a lot of people's favorite part of the movie. Honestly, the movie isn't liked enough or old enough to have anything really iconic in it, so the fact that LEGO seems to be going for a small set with a mishmash of people's favorite things makes sense to me. If it were a bigger set, LEGO could've done a take on the witch's house or something, but it's understandable that LEGO went for more iconic material for the big sets. Since all of the brother-bears look the same, it's also understandable to only include one. It's like only including two ring-wraiths in Weathertop, basically. Since the set's cheap, people who really care can buy three and get the trio. I'm most interested to see how Merida will look. I'm sure the hair will be great, but will she use the same super-duper skinny Friends torso? I'm hoping not, but I'm afraid yes. With a good dress part for the legs it might turn out fine, though.
  21. My god I hope that helmet is a misprint. It made me actually chuckle out loud. If that's not a misprint, that's unfortunate indeed. On a closer look, I don't think it really can be a misprint. There isn't much room for the goggles to be lower. This is the year of tall, bobble-head helmets.
  22. Hmm, just going from that Cyrus Borg figure, it looks like the theory that Wu is corrupted and turned into a semi-robot is a good one. Cyrus looks to be a good guy with robot attachments that turn him evil, while there are also the full robots like General Cryptor. Lloyd seems to be a fairly pissed-off guy what with the one angry face. That fits with the other Ninja faces though. They aren't the happiest bunch of minifigs.
  23. It's just a continuity flaw that stems from George's prequel ideas. I know this has been written about to death, so I'll keep it short and not too ranty: in A New Hope, Obi-Wan is clearly around 70 and Darth Vader seems to be at least in his 50s, though with him it's harder to tell. The way the prequels are set up, it turns out Obi-Wan is 53 and Anakin is 43. It just doesn't match up, so neither do other things, like the way they talk about 'the past' and the Imperials think Darth Vader has an ancient religion. But you know, it doesn't really matter too much and can be explained away. The Emperor got public sentiment to turn against Jedi, how would it look if he was revealed to use similar Force powers as Jedi? People fear the Empire because of the tyranny, not because of the Force, so maybe it isn't exactly broadcast that Darth Vader goes around using the force. Sure, the imperial command knows, but the galaxy is still a big place. Jedi are kind of mystical to the common people even in the Prequels. The problem is that almost all the stories we see are Jedi centric, so we as the audience think that Jedi are obviously well-known throughout everywhere. I wish Rebels hadn't gone the Jedi/Sith route, but even so, it doesn't mean that everybody everywhere would know about these people and frequently come into contact with them. What's great about A New Hope is that it (in pretty classic form) focuses on common people thrown into and reacting to something that's a lot bigger and more mysterious than themselves. We get to view Jedi as something intriguing and therefore cool. In the prequels and the Clone Wars it's all Jedi Jedi Jedi in your face all the time, so while their powers are still cool, they don't seem all that special.
  24. And with those series, things do get better even if similarities remain. Why is Super Mario World so much more fun than Super Mario Bros? Because there are more levels, more different bad guys, more secrets to find and unlock, more graphics. And that's not even talking about the Wii takes on the Super Mario formulas. I haven't played many of the LEGO games, but I have played the first two LSW, LSWIII, and the Harry Potter games. LSWIII is worlds beyond Lego Star Wars, and is a lot more fun. The graphics and gameplay have gotten so much better, and that really makes the experience more enjoyable. Lego Harry Potter also felt like a pretty different experience because the environments look so different. Sure, you can boil it down to the same basic elements, but as Legocrazy said, you can do that with everything. Every First Person Shooter game is the same, every side scroller is the same, etc. etc. The big enjoyment with the LEGO games is seeing a formula that you basically already know applied to new universes with some new things that you haven't seen before. It looks like Marvel is delivering that in a big way with so many characters that do have some unique abilities and move around in new ways.
  25. As the saying goes, there are many ways to skin a cat.
