Thanks for the excellent review Oky! This set looks fantastic and I've come close to buying it a few times. Why I didn't actually buy it... well, the money thing, and I'm not the biggest TMNT person so I didn't know if it would really be worth it to me. My main reason to buy it would be to complete my turtle collection (since I have the Shredder Bike and Lab Escape), but now that more sets are coming out perhaps I can snag Raph and Leo in cheaper sets. Still, I appreciate this set very much. It's jam-packed with detail and play features, really a good deal for $50. Recently it seems like LEGO has been doing rather well with $50 Licensed playsets. This, the Colby set from Lone Ranger, and the Daily Bugle all seem like great values to me and much more enticing than when LEGO does some sort of vehicle for $50 (Smallville blob ship anybody?) It's nice to see this mid-price-range getting some real love. Also, I'd say that green arrow sticker is in there as a nod to an older LEGO time. A lot of Space sets from the 80s and 90s, among others, had arrow tiles (though those were printed). Why exactly the designer felt a need to reference that.... we'll never know (unless they come and explain, or I'm just totally wrong).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Clone OPatra replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's not true. It was originally rumored that they would be from an alien race, and a terrible script leaked online that was nowhere near the shooting script. Bay here confirms that the Turtles come from the Ooze, not an alien race. (The ooze is an alien creation I think, though.) I don't think there will be any alien spaceships for the Turtles. -
That criminal face was in this year's Elite Police sets as well, but indeed it is a nice one.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Clone OPatra replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The clone looks great..... right up until you look at the helmet. The mouth is so high, and the 'eye' part looks downright deformed. Somebody is supposed to see out of that thing, but the eye part is so squashed and elongated! I hope the Kashyyyk troopers have slightly better printing. I still think it'd be possible to make that terrible mould look halfway decent! -
Flash looks excellent now. It looks like they made the helmet as small as they possibly could, and honestly the helmet solution is far better than if it was just a head. If it was just a head, we wouldn't have got the excellent yellow lighting bolt/wing things, full facial expressions, or two facial expressions. With the helmet, we do have all of those things, and really it looks quite nice. Nightwing looks pretty nice too, but I find Batgirl a little overly detailed compared to previous figures in the line, especially Bat-family figures.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Clone OPatra replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Unless anybody has actual proof that CW merchandise has stopped, there's no reason to think that's more than just speculation. The rumors have been out about a couple more CW sets, and I see no reason to think that they won't happen. It doesn't matter that the show was cancelled. -
This theme sounds like it could be fantastic. I'm not wild about the minidolls, just because they're a bit less customizable and the hands and legs are fixed, but that won't stop me from picking up some of these if they turn out to be as great as they sound. This opens up a lot of potential for classic Disney movie scenes that I frankly thought I'd never see as official sets.

Keep in mind the launch is over a year away. I don't think it really needs too much promotion quite yet.

I'm not sure where the 'not complicated' and 'not detailed' comments are really coming from. Though it wasn't DC, Tony's Mansion had a non-straight-forward curving shape to it, and little details like a blender. People didn't like that it was a tiny representation with one room (though I did, since it looks nice and was actually affordable, whoa!), but still it was detailed and complicated. I think those are just cover words for 'dumb set material.' The Man of Steel sets had detail but were just weird things, Batman's Icemobile was odd, the Iron Man 3 sets were kind of pointless besides for the Mansion… etc. The Bat/Tumbler set was the only one that actually fits the too <insert that tiresome argument> mark, since those two vehicles are awesome but the set versions sucked. Overall, though, I don't think it's detail that's lacking. What's lacking is material for a set that is actually worthwhile.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Clone OPatra replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
From the photos, it's definitely just the 2012 version with the 2010 cape. There's no evidence there of it being different. -
That was great! You made the pumpkin so dynamic and fun to watch! All of the animation was excellent, but the pumpkin especially was well thought-out. Was that 15 frames per second?

The creators of the show explicitly stated that they would not use any A-list Batman baddies. Sure, that could change down the line, but since the show is still rather new I don't think Riddler would be coming any time soon.I'd suspect the racing outfit just comes out of LEGO's imagination, and was probably OK'd by DC (if that's how it works for this License) just because… why not? Plenty of baddies have sported a lot of different outfits over the years.

There are very few 'actual' rumors. When there are, you can usually tell that people are directly talking about some new list or some new pictures, and it only takes a few pages to trace it back (or you can always ask and somebody can probably re-post the link).

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
Clone OPatra replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
While the mould itself does suck, a lot of it had to do with the deformed printing LEGO went with for the troopers we got. The regular troopers' mouth printing was way too high up, while Rex's mouth was teensy. These new Kashyyyk camo troopers look like they have much better printing that's more properly spaced, so they could make the best out of the crappy helmet. I think I'd have to see them in person before making a blanket judgement. -
Given that Man-Bat is always portrayed as having his wings be his arms, I'd say the possibility of him using that piece and having regular arms is about 0. It's silly because the Monster Fighters figure basically already is Man-Bat; I can't imagine anything other than slightly different printing.

REVIEW: 21018 United Nations Headquarters
Clone OPatra replied to Clone OPatra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm no longer in the same place as the set, so I can't snap a picture, but basically the SNOT bricks are in the center of the building, and the tiles on the sides are attached to regular bricks on their sides that attach to the SNOT pieces in the middle. Well yes, as a building technique it's great, but I still thinks it looks rather ugly. It's not hard to do either (and can actually be seen in one of my build pictures on the conference building, which also uses the technique). It's just a matter of alternating between the older headlight bricks and the newer SNOT 1x1s that don't have the indent of the old headlights. -
Here's Tonto, perhaps the most happy-go-lucky-looking minifig ever.

This MOC hasn't gotten enough love! I love how entirely zany this thing is. I mean, seriously, it makes no sense whatsoever! But it's still very neat anyway. How did you come up with the concept? Also, I hope you'll update us once more floors have been created.

History and Evolution of Lego Minifigure Head
Clone OPatra replied to moschino's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The best explanation I've heard (and I feel like I read it somewhere 'officially,' but maybe that too was just a theory) for the new 'stud recessed' is so that LEGO can put the LEGO lettering on there. There are lots of competitors these days, perhaps even more than before, so having properly branded parts makes sense. The CMF line did have the hollow-ish stud after regular sets had almost entirely switched over to the stud recessed, but Series 11 seems to now have the solid stud recessed. I imagine it's just because the CMF line is made in an entirely separate place from regular sets, and they hadn't yet switched to the new mould. @dvsntt LEGO used their hollow head plenty for things other than minifigs. The Adventurers line had a fair share of usages, from yellow sandbags on hot air balloons to trans-yellow light on the Dragon Fortress and Passage of Jun-Chi set. I've had the Dragon Fortress built basically since I got it when it came out, and the heads have never had any problems, so I doubt the change is for wider use as things other than minifig heads. -
REVIEW: 21018 United Nations Headquarters
Clone OPatra replied to Clone OPatra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I'm glad the review was helpful or informative to some. It's interesting to see the responses to this set, especially the levers in place of flag poles. Personally, I find it kind of cute and inventive, even if they aren't quite right. Plus, levers are always handy as far as parts go, especially all-white ones. Well, the tower portion has a TON of repetition and is rather annoying to build, though with that one more than any other, the hard work pays off. I suppose what you mean is that there are a variety of differently built portions, but there are still a fair share of annoyingly repetitive parts. -
I'd say it's very likely for her to have a cape. There hasn't been a Batgirl iteration without a cape, and since capes get packaged separately anyway, it makes plenty of sense that this seller wouldn't have the cape. As for the hair, that's definitely regular red. The picture with the other figures in it makes that abundantly clear.

[MOC]: Batman: Arkham Origins, Deathstroke
Clone OPatra replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Your MOCs and presentation are always stunning. I'll echo Cornelius - the snow here is wonderful and gives the whole scene a cold, desolate feeling. The scene also perfectly evokes video game style - it's so clean. -
Not really… we know he has a second face, and backprinting isn't something people are dying to see. Since they bothered to remove Flash's helmet and snap a pic of his back, you can kind of assume that they'd take a picture of the second face if there was one. Sure it's all speculation, but it's not faulty logic.

From FBTB's photos, it's apparent that the mask goes down far enough that he could have a double-sided head - two different expressions on the red or something. But, FBTB probably would've taken a picture of that if it was the case. We'll have to wait and see, but I'd be leaning towards no double-face and a perpetually angry Flash.
