Aren't the shield rolls always against an enemy even if it wasn't the one targetted? For instance, even though a Witch may be healing (targetting) an ally, they don't hex them if they roll a shield. Edit: I can see how the confuse roll would be confusing but if a rules clarification is needed, I would suggest that it would act like a miss unless the PC specified otherwise.

Hey, if you're free maybe you should think of joining the new Norse mafia game.

Ragnarök Now - Sign Up Thread

I'm still good for another game. 1. My past experience here at EB includes: Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives, Baritones III, Imhotep, Excalibur 1.0 & 2.0, and most recently The Forest II. Out of all those, I have survived only once till the end. 2. Yes, I will be able to be actively engaged for the next 6 weeks or so. 3. I identify my play style of assembling masses of data and observations mostly with Odin, the god of logic and learning. -
Very nicely done Jeb. The characters were great, the loot and vendors awesome, the story and twist amazing, and the battles unique, humorous, and challenging. It is sad that this seems like the end of the Maa'ri, but you did a wonderful job of portraying them.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job
Waterbrick Down replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: (20x3)-30=30 damage dealt. While Leojagd had put a sizable dent in Barnacle's armor, the orc wasn't going to go down easy. The hilt of the blade was starting to feel good in Skrall's hands as he advances again from the front row. Giving the great sword another experimental twirl, Skrall brings the blade in an over head cleave down upon the orc's head. Ignacio, having defended himself from the swinging mace of Orc C, again launches himself at his adversary from the front row. "May Neron and Neredice judge you for pursuing so vile a trade in their realm!" -

Skrall switches his forward assult to Barnacle as Ignacio repeats his attack. -
Jeb, I'm not sure if a Shaman's shield roll can actually revive a KO'd hero even though technically the have the lowest health. I understand that the wording is kind of vague in the class description, but I think it would be worded similar to that of the Druid if revival was possible.

Thanks Hinckley, I had mixed feelings about the investigator role because it meant I couldn't play my normal style. I had to be extra paranoid and make sure not to put the role in danger from either being lynched, vig-killed, or scum-killed which I messed up somewhere, so any insight that can be given on why I deserved to be vig-killed would be appreciated. I honestly had fun even though it was such a short game and am glad that my strategy was sound in investigating Pandora and Scuba, though honestly I should have looked into Scouty earlier after there was so much suspicion on him. To all of you, you were a great bunch to play with, even if I was disappointed at your (the town's) performance on the write-board towards the end and I look forward to many more mafia games to come. No keep playing the way you're playing, it's the one thing that convinced me that you were a townie on Day 1.

Player vs. Character knowledge. On another note, I was strolling down the store isle today and thought after seeing all the costume stuff, it would be neat to dress as Hybros or Docken this Halloween. No one else would get it, but it would still be awesome.

Yes, but it doesn't mean we need to take everything. I think some of the best parts of Heroica have been when a QM, or PC. or even NPC has done something outside their normal fantasy stereotype.

Exactly what I was starting to think about, culturally speaking unmarried Dwarven women would shave their beards as a symbol of their singleness and availability. Married Dwarven women allow their beards to grow out as a symbol of their union they share with their husband.

Anybody feel like photoshopping in a bunch of beards for upcoming quest pics?

Are we going to get answers to the night riddles by any chance?

OoC: Critical Hit does x2WP. Skrall wonders how he had managed to shoot off the orc's ear using Leojagd, but didn't ponder too deeply on it. Giving a nod of thanks to both of the healers, Skrall keeps the great sword swinging in a windmill fashion as he joins the charge against the hexed orc Buggerer from the front row. "Yer majesty, I'd suggest lettin' the witch have his hand at those enemies first, that way his flail might open up their defenses fer us." Ignacio shakily recovers his feet, one moment all had gone black with the orc slaver grinning menacingly down at him, the next he was revived and feeling in tip top condition. Looking to the sea, he falls to his knee and thanks his gods before regaining his feet and sneaking upon his killer Orc C from the front row. "Hah fowl wretch, you have chosen the wrong day to mess with he who is favored by the sea!" -
I can answer for the investigation, you defended Eskallon too readily on Day 1 for me, who I thought was attacking DD too harshly. However, I needed an ally first before I could have my results out there. It's a shame Pandora and I never worked together as double investigations would have been awesome!

First off, thank you Hinckley for letting me play. It was an honor to play with some of the greats of EB mafia, even if it was for such a short amount of time. The presentation, story, characters, enforced role-playing, and interesting mechanics were amazing, good job Hinckley and Foog. I'm not terribly pleased with my performance, but as this was my first time as an investigator I struggled to find the balance between participating and drawing too much attention to myself. Sorry I never contacted you Pandora, your accusations against me during Day 1 caught my eye as something outside of the normal accusations being thrown around and I wanted a second night action result under my belt just in case you were either the god-father or a framed cultist. Sadly, that Day 3 never conversation come about.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Waterbrick Down replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Number two of four. The Illusionist has gone through quite a few changes, but still remains a support role that also has effective combat abilities. Health and Ether bonuses changed to reflect supportive role Weapon selection expanded to include broomsticks Shield roll improved upon Hit and Critical hit now have a chance of confusing the target Figment Spell mechanic simplified, similar to Minstrel but with more focus on inflicting negative effects. -

The orc with the drum continued to beat away at his drum. Skrall glances at the annoying percussionist, "Ya lousy chap, yer givin' me a right awful headache with yer din." Skrall swings Leojagd at Blister from the front row. Ignacio, convinced that his gods have abandoned him, charges Orc D from the front row. -
I read this as 1 turn equals 1 round but I could be mistaken.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion

It's 2am here, I'm tired. I agree, it still didn't sit well with me either. I've edited it above so let me know what you think. As to the set up damage, keep in mind that while other Party members may safely target a Marked enemy, they risk causing damage to the Swashbuckler, sort of like a Warden's shield roll but without the benefit of increased health. -
Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Waterbrick Down replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Well since this one seemed to be the most popular, I went ahead and updated it first. Changes Include: "Coup de grace" switched to "Unencumbered" Great Elite Hit/Elite Hit have been altered to allow for a bigger bonus from Gold Taunt has been clarified Counter removed to ensure class is not too overpowered Marked effect: Once an enemy is Marked by a player, they will only damage that player, even when targeted by other players. -
Sandy, can you explain how the demonic scissors work? Does the PC target 2 enemies or does their attack do damage to two enemies?

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Waterbrick Down replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
I like it, though again this reminds me of the Illusionist, a negative status effecting class. Which reminds me that I need to start updating them... Anyways, I think the flavor of the class is really good though and can definitely see some of the PC's going in for that kind of role. -
Random question of the random time period. Even though you may not plan on bring your current character to an end anytime soon, what way/scenario would you invision your character leaving Heroica? Is it by death in a climatic battle? Are they betrayed by their fellow party members? Do they decide there is more gold and glory to be gained else where? Are they banished for siding with one faction or another, or holding onto some ideology? Do they leave to care for a loved one or simply retire? What is your character's ideal exit?
