Unrest in the Forest - Day 4: 2112
Hinckley replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As I pointed out early, this is the third time Hazel has done it, the second she has followed me. I analyzed her voting pattern earlier. I'm certainly not convinced that Chester is Town, but there are more votes on Hazel right now and her behavior is highly suspect. Is this the third time you've defended Hazel or was that somebody else? I do remember we found posts where Barry defended you. I really like the Hazel lynch right now. -

The lack of any bandwagon forming fascinates me. vote: Hazel Hazelnut (Goliath) For jumping on my vote for Jack with the validation of twisting his words. -

By bother, you mean arouse suspicion? Removing the verb "jump" the point is valid. You could be trying to conform to his first analysis which would make you an Oak. People are going to take notice when an Oak tries to chop itself down so you're under a lot of scrutiny right now. I'm not sure how this particular activity makes Sammy suspicious. It is suspicious that the accusation makes you so jumpy. -

It's not like I haven't spent several pages accusing him in past days or anything. I wasn't clear as to what you thought was Scummy about him. Your post left me with some questions. Maybe if you could elaborate about your suspicion of him, it will be more clear. -

I'm not a fan of Peter's gameplay, but the things that have been pointed out about him remind me of...I don't know...every other game he's ever played here. Granted, he is pretty much the same on both sides. I'm trying to keep my metagaming hat off, but I know the tree (I'm punny now that it's not the cool thing to do) of you have played with him a lot as well. What's different about this game from his other games that has you thinking he's Scum this time? -

Thank you! This time I did the math. Here's the timeline, relative to the end of the day, according to Berty's interaction with Barry: (2 hours after end of day 3) 11th February 06:05 pm : William claims his role to me and tells me about his mutual kill deal with Simon (17 hours after end of day 3) 11th February 09:15am : Barry tells me that William has claimed to him, and then strongly hints that he is the bomb. He also says that he finds William's claim suspicious. (20 hours after end of day 3) 11th February 12:00 pm : In response to my direct question, Barry tells me the exact details of his role, but says that he has chosen to interpret the role as bomb. 11th February 12:42 pm : I tell Bruce about a suspicious claim I have received (but I don't tell him that the claimant is Barry) 11th February 12:48 pm : Barry assumes that all Night Actions are already in and players' fates are decided (22 hours after end of day 3) 11th February 02:17 pm : Barry tells me that he has made a deal with William to kill Simon if Simon backs out of the mutual kill deal. (23.5 hours after end of day) 11th February 03:31 pm : I tell Bruce that it is Barry who made this claim to me. (NA deadline) 11th February 03:56 pm : Bruce tells me to tell Barry that the town block will kill him unless he kills William 11th February 03:59 pm : Bruce changes the kill target for Barry to Maggie (14 hours before start of day 4) 12th February 00:11 am : I tell Barry to kill Maggie (30 minutes before start of day 4) 12th February 11:22 am : Barry says that he'd rather kill Bobby That last one should be 3.5 hours before start of Day Four. Sorry -

Hinckley replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
It's all a matter of WIFOM. And since Maggie was mentioned by Bruce, it's possible Barry didn't really offer an opinion, just switched to saying Bobby since he knew Bobby was dead and didn't want to implicate his teammates by claiming Clem as his target. It'd help if we could nail down the timelines of the weird things Barry said. If we could all focus for a second instead of spouting off weird theories about a hammerer... ...Sorry. But, I wouldn't miss Maggie and it's at least something to go on. So, what is your Scum role then? Is this a suspicion or do the stumps have any proof? It seems like a suspicion, I thought I'd just make my ...968th...post of the day about Chester because why not? -

Oh, It's still weird. I suppose it doesn't matter either way. If we think Hazel's a hammerer, she's Scum either way and we should just vote her off. Sorry. I'm on Mafia overload. -

My theory may have some meta-reasoning behind it. But it's suspect and now it's gnawing at me. Like an Emerald Ash Borer. And I'm a Persimmon! Also, how does the role work? Does it pull the Scum's vote to the bandwagon and show the name? I've never experienced the role. I'm basing this mostly on Hazel's voting pattern. -

Furthermore, the only day Hazel hasn't been on the bandwagon was the day known Scum (Barry, if that's accepted) was the hammer. Why else does someone vote for themselves? I'm not crazy. At least I don't think. Let's test this. He literally says he votes for himself in case that's where the majority votes are! Then says he'll come back later and look into his other suspicions. Hammerer. Maple. -

Humor me. I'm know it's far-fetched but the more I think of it the more plausible it is. Why else would she vote for herself out of the blue. Let's put 7 votes on someone who isn't Hazel and see if her vote is passively added to hammer it. What can it hurt? Let's play a game of chicken with the Maples. -

Unrest in the Forest - Day 4: 2112

I find the sob story itself suspicious, so I looked into the voting record. Twice, Hazel has followed me on the vote. Today with Jack and on the first day with Larry. This was the other person I thought was parroting me besides Sue. I had multi-quoted and then lost it to a backspace fiasco. There is a lot of "if she's an Oak" in this vote. And on Day One after removing his vote from the person I voted for: She's annoying and she wants to be a martyr. She'd have to be an Oak to be a martyr. There's also the "amazement" if Alastair flips Maple. Warning: this next theory might be a little far-fetched, but I think it's worth covering all bases. Barry hammered Alastair on Day One. Was he protecting a hammerer? Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but Hazel's behavior of picking a name and justifying it could be the tactics of a hammerer, though it's a role I've never seen used here. Barry placing the hammer might also be ensuring that Hazel's vote wasn't moved to the bandwagon passively. Barry was also in a good spot on Catarina's bandwagon to unvote if he needed in order to not reveal Hazel as the hammerer. Am I overthinking? Am I even interpreting the role correctly? Ooops! Good thing I'm a root admin. Sorry! (I accidentally posted on Day Three and moved it back over here.) -

I'd rank you higher than that. But, you're the second player to go all self-deprecation and give up. I think this tactic should be discouraged no matter what side you're on. Stick around and fight, no matter what side you're on. I boo giving up. Boo! Yay! Inadvertent pun! -

Forgive me for being a Root Admin and not knowing what forum time is. Each member sets their own time and something is off with the software that sets it back by an hour. That's why I'm asking, when–in relation to the end of the day–did he bring you this info? One hour after the day ended? 18 hours after the day ended? I don't feel like doing the math for DST. Sorry. My "deal" with William. I am curious why William chose you two specifically and who else he told. It's conspicuous that you had just been called out for picking names and making up justifications. The more my mind relaxes about the whole thing and the more we learn about what Barry was doing, the more I think William is practically verified as Town. -

I found it interesting how quickly Chester backed off after I pointed out that they were taking your quotes out of context. Has Hazel retracted or is he too afraid to show he was taking advantage of my vote on you? -

As I mentioned, there are other things that make us trust each other. We are working to ensure we have a valid investigator. The potential naivete of the investigator is why we're not all sitting in one big happy PM together. None of the targets or identities are being shared. We are being careful about Night Action discussion so we're not risking any Power Role or their result being tampered with. I'm transferring info back and forth amongst the claimants and the others we've been able to verify. Even if they are both legit, there's still a potential of a Godfather or a framer/tailor. We've discussed the possibilities endlessly, as you could imagine. Considering the Scum or the mechanics in general have some way to hinder our knowledge of alignment of those who die or are lynched, two legit investigators might be a balance to that. But, we are keeping all options in mind. None of us feel 100% comfortable. -

Hinckley replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yes, it's a WIFOM moment and that was actually my first thought was that it was a good gambit for Day One. After this, Alastair asked Bruce to unvote him, so Barry would've been the hammer and then maybe the bandwagon would've fallen apart altogether. The best case scenario for them would be if they could stop the lynch and he was killed later, Barry would get to say "But I hammered Alastair." Me too, but I'm more compelled by what you point out here: There's 3.5 hours left in the day. I think we could lynch Maggie and I'd feel good about that choice.
