  1. Do they have cash to buy 2x Black Gates as advertised for the full build? Probably no, kids got 1..... so where is the problem
  2. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/70809 This one, much better and in better proportions with itself (no giant trebuchets, and its dimensions and scale is proportionate in terms of measures compared to the other one) The above one is the best Minas Tirith up to date I have personally seen built or ''built'' it also has a ''realistic'' piece count for a set (a little less than 4000) and still looks good. The most supported Minas Tirith is not half as good looking as this one really.
  3. Its such a shame, that more supports go to the lesser version of Minas Tirith...... when another version out there is sooooo much better.
  4. Exactly, this is such a cool Balrog, granted the fires could no longer be done like that (sadly) I would instantly buy 2 of those sets, if it came with damaged Gandalf face and hopefully another Boromir perhaps for like 26.99 or something. Add a Gondor Battle pack for 39.99 and Fell Beast for 60 or 70 (depending if it comes with snowmane and another Theoden or maybe some easterling/haradrim) and there is room for 120$ part of Minas Tirith (gate + grond?) or maybe Ruins of Osgilliath(which i would prefer for smallest set with Faramir + Frodo on ruins....
  5. In other words you want to say a company like LEGO does not know what they will do in 1 year? I thought plans and sketches for sets have to be done over a year before production and producing a set from nill to finish is around 2 years according to info around so surel they must've known the ideas for Hobbit before right? Its starting to be quite funny how some people change plates depending on their needs.... sometimes people here claim LEGO cannot switch fast and has rigid ways of producing sets then suddenly they do it faster and not know what will come out in a year..... People need to make up their mind :P
  6. But Hobbit set got eagle in NORMAL set so they could've skipped the Black Gates and still have mold in regular set as its clearly evident now :) We dont hate / ''hate'' the set because its bad, its a great ship the figures (except for the Army of the dead) are lackluster but ok, set overall is a solid 7/10 if not better..... we hate the set mostly because it took the 100$ bracket for such a potentially better set...........
  7. My words are meant if LEGO (or anyone else who unofficially claims) that LOTR was cut short due to bad sales..... if we consider such argument as correct then its only LEGOs fault for selling badly and not our problem if we did not want to eat their bad choices and buy 20x Elrond's council and Black Gates and Ship ambushes..... I also am 99.9999999% that license negotiators would NOT (EVER) forbid LEGO to exclude Gondor.... that is purely on LEGO decisions and its inexcusable.
  8. No thats my response if LEGO or anyone says LOTR was cut short due to bad sales.....noone else but LEGO is responsible for bad sales, or better say their designers and their license negotiators (if we blame it on license but I just dont see license FORBIDDING Gondor soldiers lol) Now if we think of it like that: Kids did not care for LOTR (mostly) but many AFOLs did, and LEGO designed LOTR (sets) for kids (mostly) and kids ignored it (mostly) and AFOLS were disappointed (mostly) (lets ignore the fact that we shoudl be happy we got it at all, because now we have/had it) Would it not be better if LEGO designed LOTR for AFOLs because obviously kids were ignoring it (mostly) and atleast when it was cut short, AFOLs would get alot more what they wanted, so atleast a part of community was happy? To me its a no brainer.... its probably a bad research done by LEGO about the biggest question, do kids care about LOTR?
  9. And exactly thats the problem.... and because its not a ''property that sells children's toys hand over fist'' they should've designed sets more according to AFOLs and less towards kids........ Noone will ever convince me that kids would buy less Gondor army battle pack than they did Elrond's council and AFOLS would buy the same as they did Elrond's Council.......... Just as noone would convince me the before said about Pirate Ship, all friends i know (or huge majoriy) who are Pirate lovers are either indifferent towards the ship or dislike it, because it does not look like classic pirate ship, so they will wait for next years Pirates for a ''proper'' one (better than LOTR one for sure) So what is to say about LEGO decisions if they pick up a line that sells bad for kids and good with niche market of AFOLS and make it for kids and then decide to cut it cos sales were poor and AFOLs like me refused to buy 20x Elrond's council but would surely buy 20x Gondor battle pack for the same price point................ hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  10. The problem is, its LEGO fault if LOTR did not sale well, or if you want to word it otherwise its their license negotiation problem but even then its not really, if they could've made 1 battle pack in terms of UHA army, they could've made 5 similar for everything from Orcs, to haradrim and Gondorians. That would sell alot more than Wizards battles, Elrond's Councils and even Ship...... so if LEGO decided to cut LOTR due to sales, they cut it because designs of LEGO team(s) unless they expected we wil lbuy everything x100 because it has LOTR on the box?
  11. Exactly, people keep saying over and over, how LEGO is rigid and cannot just turn their plans over to make more of X set and change their plans in the middle, yet for LOTR many say they changed halfway, how does that go together I do not understand :P
  12. See now thats way better than that projects on LEGO ideas
  13. Thats not official enough tbh...... did they say its official said by LEGO rep? Or is that just their 99% prediction?
  14. I seriously cannot recall that..... and even if it was, then there were archers etc..... hard to say really.... Same thing, with where did Tolkien said anything about 100.000 Orcs assaulting Minas Tirith.... Never seen that.
  15. Exactly, in Hobbit book (atleast the one I own) the only number given were the Dwarven army from the Iron Hills led by Dain...... nothing else is igven in numbers.
  16. At start all figures combined will go for about the price of the set.... but all the pricey figs will drop to 8-12$ range pretty quickly..... I am no way loaded with cash, but in the last 2 days I just spent 12-14$ per Rohan soldier and bought 7..... to slowly finish my Helm's Deep display........
  17. Where did that say...... It certainly did not say it in the books that I read.................. And if i can understand the other numbers, 100 Eagles is a bit of alot....
  18. +1 :D Literally the only good things is torso from Dain (and his beard) Bards torso and legs and thats pretty much it..... Disappointing!
  19. Thanks for that, now i can finally say, thanks but no thanks for this set.... 100% pass as is the 2nd biggest Lake Town add on :)
  20. You have Treebeard already, just name it :) As for the rest (other 4) its ok, BUT 100$ Minas Tirith means Gates + Grond and nothing more.............. crap army building potential there, and if Gondor comes the least it has to be is a Uruk-hai army type of Battle pack......... or Id be severely disappointed with only raising my apetites for Gondor army and never having it due to costs........ I would do it like that for Army building reasons and for reason Sauron is actually NEVER doing anything (except for the intro) you dont really need him unless youre doing the Elendil scene, Witch king is the main villan anyway........... on the field atleast................ 26.99$ ---------- Balrog + Gandalf + Boromir (we only got 1) (that was the cost of Dol Guldur Ambush in Europe more or less) 40$ ------------- Gondor battle pack addon for 120$ set with 4 Orcs and 1 gondor soldier (with shield and new helmet) and Faramir in Gondor Attire on Horse (Eomer 2) but keep same helmet (no ornaments) to make it generic out of it, with same torso etc....... 60(or 70$) ----- Witch King showdown with Fell Beast, Witch King, Eowyn, Merry and Theoden (and Snowmane) possibly add a rock or half dead Olifont or only the upper part of Olifont (a chance for Haradrim here or easterling with higher price point!) or can also add Gothmog... 120$ ------------ Minas Tirith Gates + Grond 8 figures ---> 2-3 orc archers/soldiers, Gothmog (if not in other set) maybe Troll (to push the Grond) Gondor archer, Gandalf the White, Pippin in Gondor attire(again keep same chest as Gondor soldier and same helmet, to make mroe army building potential), Denethor(optional) Now that would be a perfect wave for me, sure you exclude Sauron, but he is just a ghost in LOTR, if we exclude prologue that is past anyway.... he is the ring technically, and we got that........ We get Witch King, Eowyn, Both Hobbits in their attires, Gondor soldier army building potential, we possibly get Gothmog and Denethor, and we get Faramir (again with army building potential) and possibly an armored troll printing......... oh and we get badass Balrog and also Fell Beast, pretty much everything in 4 sets.........
  21. The problem I have is, when I look at a ship I think, would a pirate ship in red and white straps (color wise) sail the seas back in teh days? And if I dont see it as something regular, then it puts me off..... if atleast we could buy sails in all or different colors on LEGO.com (same materials)
  22. Yes but atleast use the totally different color scheme then...... fine Ships were brown, we can live with that, but everything thats red (and white) on this ship should be totally counter colored, so it does not look identical to older ships.... Our complaints are not that all cars have 4 wheels etc. but our complaints are that all cars are red and white colored in the town........... thats converting our complaint into your analogy.
  23. The problem is those hairpieces (new ones on Orcs) looks absolutely FUGLY..... could not make a worse choice period!
