  1. By the logo appearance I already smell the Chima like blue see through color overuse.
  2. http://www.dailydot....campaign/?fb=gk Finally a ''set'' worth hoping for :P Only billions to go :P
  3. Well Chaos and Lava goes well together.
  4. Ofc its 99% in interpretation. While I can take sci-fi elements in terms of creatures (Dragons, Orcs, Goblins, etc.) Its really really really hard for me to swallow sci-fi buildings and vehicles, those absolutely must feel like medieval or like something an old race without Robotic technology could build. Dungeons and dragons is fine, atleast what i know of. The only time i ''tolerated'' sci-fi in terms of technology was WOW, because to my ideas it was incorporated good, in terms of Gnomes and their technology. To cut it short, I think Kingdoms design (quality) and Tolkien imagination combined would make a perfect ''classic'' Castle theme, that probably majority of Castle fans (AFOLs) would adore. Its my personal opinion, and surely biased, but I think not far off.
  5. Yes, I part sci-fi and fantasy on 2 ways, 1 way is having Elves, dwarves, Orcs, Trolls, Wizards and Dragons, the other is having flying ships on baloons, robo horses, mechano or steampunk variants of movable vehicles..... first is acceptable and integrated in medieval setting, second is (to me atleast) outlandish and/or unnatural And obviously the Kingdoms type of theme was nearly perfect, in terms of design, sets and figures, it was only a wizard from chess that was not regular, Kingdoms was a perfect theme and setting all it needed was a third outlaw/forestmen type of faction and more civilian and different war sets, not the typical, Castle-outpost-carriage stuff always.....
  6. Well to be fully honest, Robo horse sounds nothing liek Classic Castle era from history so to me thats good enough understanding of how it will be. The most i can take from sci-fi or fantasy in castle theme is what naturally (from books and movies) goes with it (Dragons, Wizards, and Tolkien type of Dwarfs/Elves/Orcs and maybe to a degree a necromancer rising an army of skeletons) Anything beyond that and its ''too much'' for me atleast, to call it castle theme, maybe another theme with castle elements.
  7. Well to me Castle theme means CASTLE, you know Kingdoms or Dungeon/Dragon knights type of series of sets, when ACTION theme to me means Ninjago/Chima so loads of action regarding of the theme mixed inside (let it be Ninjas, Castle, or whatever) When someone says Castle theme, my first thought goes to Medieval Market Village really, this , to me is the epitome of a perfect Castle set for adult display lovers of Castle theme. And you question is pretty easy to answer for me: Its action theme with castle elements IF action (cartoon support) is its main selling point (like Chima/Ninjago) And its Castle theme with action elements if Castle theme is its main selling point (Kingdoms for example) and not action. Sure action is a part of Castle theme regardless how we turn it, but its still a huge difference to me, if action is there because there are warriors, knights, barbarians, or because its shoved down our throats like Ninjago/Chima. its a big big difference for my wallet :P
  8. I wonder if it comes with generic Wookie :)
  9. Is it only me or the first thought i got from those words sets like these?
  10. Ye ye, people always say that, but in the end we see occassions when sets that are D2C go out of stock and surprise hit LEGO and they need to even catch upš with the demand from AFOLs, because surely no kiddo went and bought D2C sets on the internet, like that Classic Space set with 2 green space figs and so on and on..... Yeah, perhaps it is a Rockstar, but I think LEGO is losing the line of adult fans and there will be a big ZERO in the gaps of generations of LEGO AFOLs, since we who adored 1990s will die one day, and the current kids surely will not go back and buy those ''epic'' Chima Rockstar vehicles, because they are not display worthy overall (few exceptions)
  11. The problem is that majority of classic LEGO fans really want something in the way of Forestmen, Bandits, Dragon Knights, and Dungeon Knights..... You know classic Castle stuff 1992 mixed with Kingdoms level of design and quality with battle packs. Now just imagine getting a new Black Knight's Castle....... D2C set, 1800 pieces or something with new design and stuff, but with that classic vibe. That would be a true Castle theme.
  12. The Castle subtheme was amazing though :)
  13. It would be funny if there would be no new Castle next year, just because of the hype for it :P
  14. Well mainly because currently I live at home, with enough space, but since I might move out in less than a year in my future apartments I will not have space for displaying such ''huge'' collections. (budget places you know :P) so either I box the collection and put it away or I sell it and get ''good'' money for it. I dont really want to leave my parents with tons of LEGO to sit at their home without my attention on them, when they can use room for their own stuff (even though i know they 99% wont use it but keep it empty for if i have to come back, but its about principle) Obviously though, if the price is too low I rather pack it up and leave it for ''another time'' or for myself. The main problem is I cant really travel with this much LEGO I still have like a whole stash on display MMV, MVR, Unexpected Gathering, and about 120 CMF + other figs (like Fellowship etc) Now for the CMFs i can surely find space on display anywhere but for such big displays of Helm's Deep and MVR/MMV it will be way harder. Thats why I am checking if someone might give a good offer to sell.
  15. Emmmm, just like 5 Rohan soldiers on horse are worth 75$.... Hey! I am not really keen on selling the collection individually, mainly because then I will be left with pieces of collection ''nobody'' wants(or it will take ''years'' to sell it all). While I would be ok to sell factions separately (All Uruks together, all Rohan together and Helm's Deep) it has to happen with Helm's Deep selling first. Since figs are the easiest to sell generally. And if I am left with only Helm's Deep on display that looks pretty poor to my liking. Hey! Im not really keen on selling Uruks individually or in groups of whatever number, as written above, if it has to happen I would then sell all Uruks as a bunch, but only after someone buys Helm's Deep set (with only good guy figs in it) Also keep in mind when offering to buy, for similar prices (considering the lot size) on bricklink... Surely I am willing to go lower on it, but not undercutting by like 50% or so......
  16. If only such ''focus'' resulted in good sets from Hobbit, but in the end Hobbit line with exception of Unexpected Gathering, which was wonderful, was rather disappointing, especially wave 2 and 3 In the end the really outstanding sets of the Tolkien legacy were Unexpected Gathering, Helm's Deep with wall addition set and obviously Orthanc, rest was okish, good, mediocre, average, interesting, above average, you name it........
  17. LEGO made a bad response there for demanding fans, if they said Ent can be whatever your LEGO imagination makes it to be, it would be then ok, but now all hell breaks loose.... its Treebeard, if you want it to be, its close enough, nothing in LOTR is close enough to Gondor soldier in armor though, or Witch king, or Mumakil or Minas Tirith.... Treebeard is quite honestly the least needed set and a set that gives the least interesting characters in terms of figures (Pippin, Merry? An Orc perhaps, surely no new print for the orc so yeh, pointless) Even Denethor would be better than Treebeard set, atleast with Denethor there would be theoretical possibility to get The Tower guard, Gondor soldier, perhaps even Faramir(Ranger or gondor attire) or least numbered Fellowship member Boromir in Gondor attire............
  18. Yes many people buy for the minifigs, but many of them are army builders, those peopel are the biggest minifig hoarders out there..... Just look on some Assault on Helm's Deep MOCs on the internet, and enjoy the great scale, I have 100+ Uruks and 25 Rohan soldiers, But not 25 Aragorns or Mouths of Sauron :) Hmmmmmmm, so people can buy Black gate without figs on ebay, but cannot buy Saruman on Ebay without purchasing the whole set? :) Just a thought. Ofcourse the whole wave would be forgiven with additional 4-5 set wave..... thats obvious. But now its hard to forgive, even with Orthanc (which is amazing) The problem with the whole wave is, that 0 sets recapture the most important thing of LOTR (apart from battle of evil vs good) and thats big battles, we are literally stripped of option to remake Pelennor fields, or assault on Minas Tirith (Corsair ship is movie wise the end of the battle practically) and Black Gates again does not let us recreate the battle, because the biggest army (Gondor) is missing, (and then there are others like armored trolls, Easterlings, Haradrim etc.) And thats why many find LOTR in LEGO disappointing because Assault on Helm's Deep and Uruk hai army showed SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much potential :) and then such a second wave.
  19. Ah the Uruk-hai sword was cool, I take it back then, when he said orcs I automatically thought of the scimitar, which is fugly.
  20. Black Gate is arguably the biggest fail of the entire LOTR wave really.... You simply CANNOT (or should not might've said it better) make a set that you announce should be bought multiple (twice) to make a proper display, and then put in 4/6 named figures, that are nearly or impossible to reuse as regular soldiers...... Black Gate would be amazing set, if All the named figures would be swapped for Rohan gondor soldiers and armored orcs..... perhaps keep 1 named as with UHA set.... Yes Wizard duel is a nice little set, but waste of shelf space, when you consider there were only 4 set spaces for the theme..... same goes for Elrond's Council imo.... I wonder what the poll result would be between Elrond's Council, Balrog from LEGO game, and perhaps a set with Eowyn and Witch king for 40€....... I am 99% the first would come in last :P
  21. I would still bet a flesh or more realistic mammoth (as not in trans colors) would sell better..... Kids afterall dont have tons of cash for all those sets, so they had to choose.... on the other hand noone (or barely anyone) would ever buy that mammoth in masses for an army, because it does not look ''earthly'' as Mumakil would..... Its like scrapping Jurassic Park for a trans T-rex.... 2 different worlds to me. And if not Mammoth there was another 2 options of giant animals, one carrying Grond to the Gates (which makes perfect opportunity to give us Gondor soldiers and the action packed set with breaking Minas Tirith Gates) and then there was the absolute king in the movie with the Nazguls on their flying beasts.... funny part is, that Smaug in movies looked less terrifying than those flying beasts... Another option for a 99$ set that I could bet would sell better. Its hard to understand designers of LOTR sets, either they got drunk after 1st wave and lost logic or never watched the whole movie or enjoyed it..... thats the only 2 conclusions I can pick out..... To scrap Gondor, Witch king, the biggest battle in the movies (Corsair ships took the lesser part of it and the smallest in terms of screen time) Eowyn, and possibly even Denethor, which at that time was the most powerful adversary of Sauron, is all I can say.
  22. Which is one of the worst oversized weapons in LEGO arsenal, absolutely hate it!
  23. Bump, still for sale for good offers!
