I would still bet a flesh or more realistic mammoth (as not in trans colors) would sell better..... Kids afterall dont have tons of cash for all those sets, so they had to choose.... on the other hand noone (or barely anyone) would ever buy that mammoth in masses for an army, because it does not look ''earthly'' as Mumakil would..... Its like scrapping Jurassic Park for a trans T-rex.... 2 different worlds to me. And if not Mammoth there was another 2 options of giant animals, one carrying Grond to the Gates (which makes perfect opportunity to give us Gondor soldiers and the action packed set with breaking Minas Tirith Gates) and then there was the absolute king in the movie with the Nazguls on their flying beasts.... funny part is, that Smaug in movies looked less terrifying than those flying beasts... Another option for a 99$ set that I could bet would sell better. Its hard to understand designers of LOTR sets, either they got drunk after 1st wave and lost logic or never watched the whole movie or enjoyed it..... thats the only 2 conclusions I can pick out..... To scrap Gondor, Witch king, the biggest battle in the movies (Corsair ships took the lesser part of it and the smallest in terms of screen time) Eowyn, and possibly even Denethor, which at that time was the most powerful adversary of Sauron, is all I can say.

Which is one of the worst oversized weapons in LEGO arsenal, absolutely hate it!

Special collection up for potential sale
Alcarin replied to Alcarin's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Bump, still for sale for good offers! -
I would still bet a solid Mumakil set for 99$ with a Rohan soldier on horse would of sell better than the Pirate ship..... It would appeal to kids and fans alike, kids like big animals like Mumak is, and fans would buy multiple to make armies and scenes from the Pelennor fields.... Yeah I agree about Black Gates, but their wish lists and to do, are only there due to limiting to 4 sets (for no extremely great reason since I guess LEGO plans far ahead, and either they planned poorly or did not know what to do with the line) and in the end LOTR line (except Helm's Deep and UHA sets) were rather big disappointments overall (many of 1st wave was decent if not good) Its just the ''using of molds and parts'' part I kinda do not believe, since we get many parts only used in 1 set (Mouth of Sauron helmet surely is one of them) So I see rather no reason to choose Mouth of Sauron aka a new mold to use old horse printings.... it kinda saves one thing and makes another mold that you surely have nowhere to use :P Well blue is the wrong color for sure..... if its silver torso then a bit better

The Algus Saga: Alexander fortress (pic heavy!)
Alcarin replied to Gunman's topic in Guilds of Historica
WoooooooooooooW certainly one of the best I have ever seen! -
Yes that aswell.... The problem I have with generic LEGO castle is that either new line uses same sigil (lion vs dragon) but its changed enough so that together it looks ridiculously bad with old sets (Kingdoms now for example) or its same color aswell and thats it, you cannot have 2 factions with same color.... So now we have red vs green in Kingdoms, if they do red vs green with same lion vs dragon heraldry and its too different from old torsos it will look crap to me, cannot mix them..... so i hope they do atleast something like purple vs white, or whatever..... just not blue, gold, green, red again.... tired of the colors..... But yeah, best would be totally new sigils, and totally new colors, and Kingdoms similar theme, then I am in..... just give more MMV/MVR sets and ill love it. Oh and please give bad guys, proper castle or atleast big ruins!

It will be a forever mystery, why Choose Black Gate without Gondor soldier, and why choose a ship seen for a couple of ''seconds'' instead of Balrog/Mumakil/Gondor related stuff......
-
Yes, the colors are sooooo boring already..... constant blue/red/gold vs green/black/red combos..... Either give the exact same Kingdoms torsos so we can combine OR give some interesting new designs but not in same colors, we have thousands of colors, yet LEGO rotates 6..... how uninspirational for a Company who wants for their toys to inspire kids and peopel overall.

Hello dear Eurobricks community, I am a huge LOTR fan so i managed to collect and display a pretty decent Helm's Deep assault which I am now considering selling. This is also the purpose of this thread, to see if I can get a decent enough offer on which I would say ''Yeah I want to part with my beloved display for that money'' Its pretty much Helm's Deep set + 2 wall extensions and a huge pile of original generic troops - 100 fully armored uruk-hai figures (helmet + armor) (50 of the have shields + swords) - 1 unarmored Uruk-hai - 1 Berserker - 25 Rohan generic soldiers (15 of them on new mold horses with spears and shields rest with bows and quivers ( you can notice 6 rohan soldiers have Eomer armored pants, this is due to error from bricklink seller who shipped me those with wrong pants) - 2 Eomers (1 on horse, the other on foot) - 1 Gandalf the white on white horse - Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Theoden - 6 new mold spears (since i wanted to have 25 mounted Rohans but stopped buying at some point) - 4 additional brown horses (lacking saddles) - Additional grey statue is aso seen on picture since i forgot to remove it (can also be inside the lot do not care :P) Now do notice I am in no urge or need to sell it, I just would like to see if there are any potential offers that would make me sell it or strongly consider selling: I am from Slovenia (inside EU) am also available for local pick up(which i would actually prefer) but otherwise everything goes through paypal..... only shipping insured (and registered obviously) I only accept EURO currency OFFERS: Please if you have some ridiculously low offers or joke offers I will not reply to you, you can easily check how much figures individually would cost so please offer accordingly. I have not yet checked to see how much its actually worth (per Bricklink) so currently I have no price set for it, its my own collection that i spent months acquiring let it be from buying sets and parting them or ordering figures online, so asking how much I want for it is something i would like to avoid, however if youll cut (too) low then thats pointless. Anyway below are the images:

Exactly I thought exactly the same, it was instant, oh look no Gondor, and Balrog, wave 3 is pretty much 100%..............

Which is Your Favorite Orc Minifigure from the LotR/Hobbit?
Alcarin replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
1. Uruk hai fully armored (with shield) by far the best minifigure of generic troops in LOTR and number ONE from evil guys/orcs 2. Gundabad orcs (with shoulderpads and hairpiece) 3. Moria orcs (if only they would get a helmet)- 23 replies

- Orc
- Lord of the Rings

See thats what i kinda dislike, i hate when armies are colorful, or mixed...... its ok for Orcs and maybe some thief brigands, but the thing i loved the msot is collecting uruk hai fully armored... such a cool army in looks..... the most happy I am is when i see that every soldier carries a shield + weapon and helmet..... or a bow + quiver + helmet..... that way i can mix them as i please without worrying about other stuff, but i do love face differentiations.

I personaly think basic graphical charm is perfect, but only for collector old school lovers liek us, and they should keep that especially the normal smiley faces in modulars liek Parisian restaurant etc. It gives special feel of nostalgia when buying that

Well the main problem of Minas Tirith is, that if i recall correctly, the Citadel including the White Tower of Ecthelion is taller than Orthanc itself... by a decent margin may i add...... While we all understand that It cannot be realistical, but I do however expect sets based on movies to carry some proportions with other sets and itself..... Now if Minas Tirith is released, I would expect and want it to look majestic towards the 2 best LOTR sets of Helm's Deep and Orthanc...... and to achieve such thing it has to be higher and more epic..... and quite honesty I cannot see any Minas Tirith below Death Star lvl to achieve anything near that...... Thats why it would be better to (if at all) release modular Minas Tirith, as first lvl (gates + wall expansion) and perhaps UCL Orthanc style White tower with the Hall of Kings for 300$ with 3.000 pieces......
-
Exactly..... nice to read more who think the same. A minifig scale Minas Tirith would mostly be bad out of scale..... due to size problems and piece count....... Id rather that we would get Balrog over Fell beast though, as far as sets are concerned, because Balrog would look cooler..... but minifigs to go with Balrog would be quite uninteresting..... Gandalf, Moria Orc, and perhaps Boromir, since he was only in 1 set......
-
I was a total Castle fan for all my childhood and am also now..... i absolutely adored the early 90s Black Knights, Outlaws and Forestment era, and then also the Dragon Knights......... I still consider those sets as a perfect combination of sets we have ever received.... But even I as a kid loved making Castle and hideouts ''alive'' and by alive i mean people, regulars, farmers, women, kids, trading, building, selling, buying, not 100% soldiers and wizards and dragons........

LEGO knows little or shit all.......... if LEGO knew what ''we'' want, we would have Gondor Soldiers, Minas Tirith, Balrog and Mummakil.............. LEGO thinks they know what ''we'' want. And even then everyone wants something else. so i call BS on your statement. FE1 was an average theme, i can easily call out 2 better eras being Kingdoms and the old forestmen, outlaws, Black Knights etc......... Now the latter would sell like hot cakes, after 20 years+ FE2 would just be more relatively young remakes..... like Pirate boring theme. Hell I would even claim ''classic'' Ninjas had cooler sets than FE1........ the only cool factor of FE1 was MMV and Dwarf mine.... ok and dragons but now thats not cool anymore since we have Smaug.
-
Well movie shows it differently aka way darker, sure we would all assume Gondor did not build it black, but if we take movie colors as canon It just does not give the feel of a ''white'' citadel......

6086-X Return to the Black Knight's Castle
Alcarin replied to Dubbadgrim's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amazing! -
Nah, we need less fantasy and more civilian..... you know, MMV Kingdom Joust and MVR type of sets, and houses etc..... ideally we would also get 3 factions. We need neutral guys, good guys, bad guys, outlaws, a decent setup and interesting sets, no need for dragons again.... Kingdoms was perfect, it only lacked a 3rd and maybe 4th ''faction'' one or two more sets like MVR/Joust(and earlier MMV) and a better story.
-
Man I still cannot believe we did never get this exactl version of Balrog as a 30-40$$ set with Gandalf, Moria Orc and maybe Boromir............ This would be such a best seller! Id buy some just to make them into statues :P

Looks decent, Kingdoms way, just like I love it, hope they are similar to Kingdoms and can be paired.... would be nice.
