Wow! Makes me imagine a Z-train at knotch 8 on the throttle on the Lynndyl Subdivision... Great models evoke great memories!

Considering it took the Empire a good year to crumble after Palpatine died is an accomplishment actually. Look at how fast the Nazis fell after Hitler died in comparison.

Best Space Mountain Ride Version?
xboxtravis7992 replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yeah most videos are pretty bad for the ride. Something about darkness throws a camera off :) I just figured they'd be used for those who haven't been on any of them before. -

Designer Credits for Lego Sets?
xboxtravis7992 replied to murphy_slaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some designers get on Brickset and create Bricklists for the sets they designed. Also Easter Eggs are a good clue. Initials on stickers, birthdays, etc. One of the most famous is the fire extinguishers in Marvel sets, but I can't remember who uses that as his call sign. -
Calvin and Hobbes was a junior high school favorite of mine. Although I wish it had ran longer, I admire that by dropping out early it has forever remained fresh. So many newspaper comics are stale after 30+ years of running, and in 9 and a half years Calvin made a bigger impact than those ancient long ran comics.

Wow that is a beast of a model! Great job.

Yeah I recognized your username sneak into those comments :) But yeah I'm convinced that guy was either a troll or a seriously narrow-minded fanboy. Like seriously, is there anything wrong with liking both movies? As much as I love the MCU, I'll admit that artistically the Dark Night triology is a far greater achievement. Of course I also think both films had different purposes, the MCU the more light hearted popcorn flick that is fun to watch over and over again, and the Dark Knight Trilogy being a metaphor to our modern society and our fears (primarily terrorism). Two very different films but I enjoyed both. Same with the Star Wars-Star Trek debate. Yes I love Star Wars, but everynow and then I just need a dose of The Next Generation in my life. Two very different forms of sci-fi stories but I enjoy both. I know a lot of fanboys will argue for superiority of one franchise over another, but the point is moot in an argument of apples vs. oranges. Of course I can't chine in on BvS because I haven't seen it... and that's because I tend to differ to the Rotten Tomatoes scoring for new films. I figure an aggregate of professional reviewer's scores is a good indicator of a movie's quality. And for that BvS lover on FBTB, if he wants to defend that film with his life, he should first address it's poor public reception. But I don't think it's a fight worth fighting though, no franchise is truly so important it's worth starting a huge flame war over. It's a movie, not a religion! :)

Yes we need a new Lando desperately. In normal clothes not his Jabba's Palace disguise, and by normal I mean hid blue Cloud City outfit. Please TLG, oh please!

Go find a DVD collection ruin and show your kid THE REAL Mickey Mouse cartoons from the 1930's-1950's. Maybe you'll convince him that way to play "Steamboat Willie" instead :D- 4,155 replies

Exactly! Nom stated his opinions in a well thought out and clear manner. Even though I disagree with a few I still appreciated the view and noticed a few errors I hadn't previously considered. Still I wish the impolite group of haters would just shush it already! :) Nom's criticisms could actually improve future films, where as the impolite haters will just thrash any future Star Wars film for their own entertainment. EDIT: Unfortunately for an example of flame wars over movies going on right now, just within the Lego community there is some very serious haters in the comments on FBTB battling out over BvS and Episode 7... Ughh, its such an ugly mess to read, it makes me wonder why the site's moderators just don't shut the comments on those articles down. :(

I agree with all of your points I honestly think Episode 7 has the best acting in the franchise to date. I also think Kylo Ren is a great villain because he is so insecure and trying to live up to Darth Vader's legacy.

I just ordered three bodies of Maria Hill from Bricks and Pieces. For 12 dollars I got three unique torsos with their legs, that come from a $500 set... Not a bad deal that way. If only they had Nick Fury's parts for sell right now to :P Of course the heads will be another purchase via Bricklink but my goal is for one Maria Hill figure and then the other two bodies will be used for custom figs. With that I am planning on a few "purist customs" to say. I think that at least one of the Maria torsos will be used for Agent May from Agents of SHIELD, and if I get lazy and don't order another torso I might use the other one for Skye/Quake (I probably should give Skye a different torso though to help make her character more unique).I have already built an Agent Coulson figure, which I might share photos of once I have pictures of it. I am also trying to figure out some other ideas. I might buy that one Doctor Who dimension pack of the Cyberman (?) and Bricklink some pieces to make an Iron Man Mark 2 figure, that torso just is begging to be an Iron Man Mark 2. I am also trying to figure out how to do a Squirrel Girl figure, but I've yet to find a purist torso that matches her current look in the comics. Any ideas there?

While I don't see a high end restaurant or a vip suite being priorities in the interior, I think on paper Lego could include versions of that with smaller builds. Just give the castle a fancy bedroom and a dinning room and it can play as both fantasy castle and the real life structure, all without wasting to much exterior space.

It really depends on the set. Most City sets do feel very <insert that tiresome argument>, the trains don't look prototypical and come across as toys. However the three Creator Expert trains we got were all spectacular, especially the Maersk Train, so Lego does have the capability to do better trains. The fact its been a few years since the last release in that line is what makes me antsy for when the next "high end" train comes. I don't care to much for the city releases.

Mine was the black box version with the original theatrical cuts. I had envy of the kids with the gold boxes; although in 2004 we got the gold box DVD set with the special editions. I still have the Phantom Menace on just VHS tape though. Its weird thinking though I'm at the point of my life considering how I will show my future kids the Star Wars films. I'm still single, so it will be a long time off before I'm married and have kids... But someday it will happen. I think "modified Machette order" will be the best method, as in 4-5-1-2-3-6-7-(8-9 by then to?). I know traditional Machette Order skips Episode One, but I think a lot of kids enjoy that silly movie so it won't be skipped in that case. The real question is how to shove the anthology movies into that mix. Will Rogue One come after all the other ones, or around the time I show them Episode 4? Or after they see Episode 3? So many questions...
-
Yeah I had forgot to consider that many kids today would know the prequels and the cartoons better than the OT. I guess we were the last generation that ONLY had the OT, even if it was very fleeting (I saw the OT on VHS before Phantom came out as a kid). That makes me feel old(er) for some reason...

As a kid I read every issue of all the runs of DC's Bionicle comics. It was free after all with the Lego Club Magazine. Anyway I am dabbling into actual comics a bit, although I'm buying compiled editions and not individual comic books. I did read Superior Iron Man: Volume 1 Infamous, and it was okay. But the real kick was reading The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Volume 1 Squirrel Power. Oh my gosh, rolling on the floor laughing type of read. It's such a ridiculous superhero, yet she is such a likeable character and it's hilarious to see the Marvel Universe from the point of view from the most unlikely superhero in it. Getting to see the Twitter posts of different superheroes was an awesome way to recap the previous stories. So yeah I'll probably order Squirrel Girl Volume 2 as soon as I have the money. And probably the other volumes... and the upcoming Graphic Novel... and Bricklink the pieces to make a custom Squirrel Girl to join my Lego Avengers. It was really that good. And it made me laugh. It made me laugh hard. Any other suggestions for other good comics out right now?

You know I'm to get a tad cheesed the more I see people complain about Episode VII. I just saw a comment over on FBTB with a user declaring he wanted to throw his drink cup at the screen during "The Forced Remake" and it was just as bad as Batman & Robin. Really?? I agree with people that the plot was to similar to a New Hope, BUT it had spectacular actors (cough, something even a New Hope didn't have, George was never a great director of actors), wonderful humor, great effects, great plot twists, and some wonderful new stuff to explore. The reason people criticize the "similar to A New Hope's plot structure" so much is because it is the ONLY valid criticism. Again acting wise Daisy Ridley is far superior to 'Ms. Can't Decide if Her Accent is British or American' from the OT... People seem to elevate the OT to such a pedestal they forget how many flaws it had, even in its hallowed original theatrical versions. Either some people are just trolls, or during a Phantom Menace they shoved a stick so far up their butt they had to declare all "old Star Wars GOOD" and all "new Star Wars BAD." Get over it, 1970 is calling, they want their fanboys back! :) I'll just differ to common judgement while looking at that 92% approval rating for Episode 7 on Rotten Tomatoes, and the fact my sister who genuinely hates all the previous Star Wars films got a bit of enjoyment out of Episode 7. Thanks for listening to my rant.
