This film looks very good, take a looksee. Discuss? Create Lego MOCs to go with it? Enjoy!

I'm not sure about the hardwired to like something gender specific, but then again it might be how your brain works that predisposes you to a certain thing . I loved toy cars, I always had Ken (Action Man was too violent when I was little) and Duplo moved to Lego very quickly. I always went for the cars or the construction toys. Then again, I have never been a social person, nor been particularly bothered with people. I once was found with my brothers plastic tools and him with my baby doll... However my two sisters were "classic" girly girls. My sister only played if there was some element of story and character interaction.

Hello, I am Peppermint and I will be your Sociologist today. Girls and Boys are different, both physically and mentally (through different hormonal "sloshes"). Therefore society has made, over the centuries, a distinction between the two , these are Gender Roles. This goes as far back as the Bible and if you believe that way, Ancient hominids. Because the two sexes have different Gender Roles there are different expectations for each gender. This means parents, those responsible for a significant chunk of vital development, treat you differently from birth, even pre-natal if they know the babies sex. An experiment found that a small child in pink was treated differently to a small child in blue, even when the boy was the one in pink, the girl in blue. This means parents and society as a whole give children different toys to play with. Construction toys are for boys as construction has traditionally been seen as a male occupation. Even when Lego release a set in "girly" colours there is a stigma for girls to play with construction toys. Therefore, Lego is a male thing, some girls are even chastised for wanting Lego. This makes the Toy aisle in TRU really hard for me, unless my plain speaking little brother is with me, then he loudly says how stupid that is because, "You are really good with Lego" (to me of course, but the parents hear too). Wow, that Sociology A-Level was really useful!

Wow, big changes coming up then! Will the banners/a list under each subtheme name indicate what to put where? I ask this because it took me a month to find where Agents belonged (and even then it was a chance glance of it as the latest post in the subforum).

MOC - Small Agents Helicopter
Peppermint_M replied to brickzone's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That Is a very good helicopter. Your base is going to be big... I am collecting parts for an improvement for Dr Inferno's volcano (Its is so tempting to simply buy a second one...) and plans for a scratch built Agents "HQ" that I am keeping under wraps until I have built it. If my plans pan out, it'll be over a meter long... Can't wait to see your HQ. -
For a long long time I was opposed to fleshtone. Then as my collection of it grew, and variety increased I changed my opinion. It has it's place. I use both. I have more yellow so I do use that more often, but there are several flesh figures I would like to buy now. I will be posting my first custom flesh tone figure soon.

Good for you Also: That's odd, I thought there was Megablocks in Japan, I was enviouse of their Gundam and Pokemon lisences that seemed exclusive to Japan to the point that the boxes weren't in english, or even romanised text... EDIT: I found some.. in Japanese, with prices in Yen, with a sort of "double" import price, as they are bought from Japan and I have to buy them from America...

I usualy get one through the post or in my orders from the website. I can't remember when I had on last, May I suppose (in my big Agents order). I like getting them, but they always end up causing fights when my 8yo brother gets one and refuses to let anyone else touch it, let alone look at it. (Some nasty fallout after my star wars fan brother wanted a look at the back pages).

Which Site Do You Get Your Information From?
Peppermint_M replied to Paradosis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I get news on new sets from this fine forum, I list my sets on Brickset (and also the minifigs I have from the sets) I use Bricklink to find the specific parts from each set. I use Lugnet and Peeron to see what the exact parts are by name/number. The rest is a mess, I have no list of parts I want for MOCs, I have a rough list of sets I want to get, but mostly I never concentrate long enough on a project to buy the parts. -

Licensed sets or "own" sets?
Peppermint_M replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like what I like and that is all that I like (until something convinces me to like it...). Confused? I am... I like a little bit of both. Fleshies were dreadful in my mind, then they grew on me. Now I have a decent amount of fleshie and a good variety I am even making custom figures in flesh tone. I will buy a set if I like it, no matter what my earlier opinion of the theme/license. I still don't get much licensed Lego because its more expensive and I don't like the sets enough to get them, but flesh tone figures aren't enough to stop me buying them. I do dislike that it ends up being licensed sets in competition to regular Lego but it is hard to avoid. It is a personal rage inducer if people assess a Lego original in relation to a Licensed theme (i.e. "SPIII will give me lots of aliens for my Star Wars MOCs") but that is mainly because a: I do not like Star Wars and b: Every theme should be judged on its own, Lego combines with Lego always so who cares about any other sort of "match up" between themes. I have broken my own rules too often to count, but if I ever read a set review and reply, I don't ever compare themes there. -

How do companies get away with copying Lego?
Peppermint_M replied to Shoc's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You know, I have been collecting images on eBay too. Plus doing a bit of research into some of the more "open" companies. I'll have to post them online at some point. -
Well, the "Sorting and Storage" of lego topic, pinned to the top of this forum should help with your one question. The History and Adventure subforum will be full of people who can help with castles. As for sourcing parts, many people use sets, others like pick-a-brick at Lego Stores or online Bricklink is another popular (and slightly cheaper) option. Welcome to Eurobricks and an addiction to plastic bricks

New BrickForge Products!
Peppermint_M replied to Hound Knight's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
The surcoats come in a variety of colours? Blue would be most useful for the addition of silver keys, gold stars and other such symbols of authority. Those look really cool. A bridle has been lacking from Lego for a long time. I shall have to set aside some of the Lego budget for some custom weapons and accssories once these become availiable. -
The bag could be child sized... So by my estimates (purely IMO) it might be a bag the size of a largeish handbag and the strap might be a tad short... I have no problem with the handbag bit and a simple strap switch would solve the second issue (assuming that the bag is child sized) not sure how you guys would feel using a handbag... The design does lend itself to "manbag" status however, if you are secure enough to use one .

Not only will it declare my love for Lego, it will advertise my adoration of Zeerust. I know what I will be getting on my annual trip to Legoland

What licensed themes will end next year?
Peppermint_M replied to legoindy01's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, I see Star Bores rolling on for eternity, regardless of how many repeats of a set are dusted off and "modernised". Spongebob is ending. I have not seen a single set in a shop in the UK and Disney is a rival of Nickelodeon, so Lego certainly won't be keeping that theme going. Indy might take a break between now and the next film. Or a few sets a year to keep it ticking over. Speed Racer was awesome, bothe the theme and the film. Anyone who didn't enjoy the film has a rather sour soul. I wish any shops near me had them on clearance so I could buy a bunch of them for parts to make my own cars. (A goal of mine is to create most of the cars that were in the film). To sum up: Spongebob finished, Indy might get a few more sets, Star Wars... never going away, Speed Racer = Awesome. -
If I overwatch it the scene won't be as "coolsome" and amazing in the cinema. It will go from really cool to see on the big screen and in context to "oh look, seen that bit" if I watch it a lot. Once it is in the cinema I might return to see it every chance I get. 3D if its there. 2D when it's there. I don't want to watch scenes too often before the film. Trailers are great. Me and Vretea were discussing this : as it is awesome but its also a case of I want it to be a surprise.

Power Miner Giant Robot
Peppermint_M replied to IcedCOffee's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That is really cool. Love lime green in the Power Miners theme and that is great use of it for a mech. The rock monsters will have a run for their money! -
Your quote is about one of the only ones whos source I knew.

I see, missed that, fleeting glances of awesome characters and amazing scenes. I didn't want to overwatch it.

I wonder which of the ragdolls it was. Who has seamstress got sewn into her also? I saw a rather worried one get covered in fabric... Oh, I do hope I get to see it soon.

Thanks for the link! Fantastic information. I am now torn between avoiding new information to wait for the film, or watching it all and seeing how awesome it all is.
