  1. Heh, I'll have to post my extra characters, Agents and Inferno goons. Cool names It's the good thing about uniforms, when there are multiples of one character in lots of the sets you can turn it into new characters with a simple head switch.
  2. I have made my second version already (under Turbo Car Mk II) much flatter, narrower and the wheels dont stick out. Evil Genius was a cool game, that is where I got the idea of a command room in my Inferno HQ.
  3. It was concluded that Agents was styled after many spy films and thus after James Bond, the original super spy.
  4. Thanks for the assisstance My main problem was "To baseplate or not to baseplate" The lave is a cool idea as a running theme (or more like 'lava-lite' after all, no human could hang around that kind of heat for long, cyborgs double the trouble!). I want to add a corner with a missile in and an expanded network of the 'rails' which were already there. I think I have seen evil genius, it was pretty cool, I got some ideas from it. My friend is a bit of a fan of such things so he is always telling me what I should add (he ends up half the problem!) Now, plates or baseplates? I shall figure out some things that I can do which will work well, after your suggestions and also since I have the measurements of the Inferno-Bot I can add in the mecha bay before I start the shell.
  5. To Clarify: Tintin is Awesome. I was reading Herge way before I had heard of Alan Moore, Niel Gaiman or any of the other "big names" in American comics. Point the Second: Is it an image with or without sound effects, speech bubbles and captions? Then it is a comic. Point the Third: Just because it isn't american doesn't mean it isnt a comic book. The Eagle, Dandy, Beano, Shonen Jump, DC, Marvel, Asterix, Tintin (and the countless French comics that make me wish I was any good at languages other than English) are all comics/graphic novels (whichever term floats your boat). I am looking forward to Tintin also. Fans of the work always do their best and seeing as this fan is Spielberg you know the end result will be at least watchable.
  6. Good people of Eurobricks Action Themes Sub Forum. I come to you with a dilema. I was building many improvements to the Volcano Base of Dr Inferno when I hit a roadblock: Too many ideas but not enough concrete plans. I have already improved the front gate but I want to add more. I wanted to have a WMD, a holding cell, space for all the equipment/vehicles, henchmen quarters and barracks for the goons, a med lab, a control center, a helipad, a lava pit, banks of computers, a confrence table and a mecha bay. Countless other minor ideas popped into my head... Essentialy I don't know what to build or where to start. I have been saving parts from my collection and looking a the new sets for "must have" details and additions but apart from that I have no clue what to build. I have rough sketches of some ideas and lots of goons/henchmen. I need assisstance. Put forth a case for any of my ideas or suggest your own. I can scan my sketches on request. Put simply: Help?
  7. Green Lantern better be perfect or I will NERD RAGE all over it (like I did with Batman, alll the Batman) JLA? Meh, call me when JSA is a film. I saw the aweful series pilot way back when and it was bad... Team up films only work after all the characters have had introduction films. I won't go any further as people will disagree with my views on films: the place of.
  8. I listen to an eclectic mix of different genre, artists, groups and performers thanks to the varying influences in my life. I listen to ELO and Queen because of my Dad I listen to New Romantic music thanks to my Mum I listen to dance, electronica and Techno in part due to my love of electric tones (embedded in my psyche due to ELO) and from Radio 1 and a cassette tape at an impressionable age I listen to Metal and Rock building up on my Mum's music tastes. I listen to things I grew up with on the radio I listen to anything but: Rap, RnB and most Scremo (some seem to classify punk and alternative as Scremo...) If I hear it and like it I'll listen to it. I have equal parts 80s and newer music on my walkman.
  9. Brasso is good too. the MCW is a great place for print removal tips.
  10. That is good. *awestruck moment* I love the details, the pool table is inspired. I second the motion for a dock of some sort, not too snazzy, something nice and low-key to match the rest of the base. It's a great HQ, multi story looks good. (Here I was thinking of making some form of non-descript Warehouse) did all the dark blue come from the Mobile Command? I'll have to press on with my Inferno HQ... Funny coincidence: I made an extra agent using the Jet head too
  11. I need to make a list of the books I own, then I can work out which ones I need to buy and such. I have read all of the Dicworld books, I don't own them all yet... I am thinking of Re-Reading The Old Kingdom books by Garth Nix. They are great reads if you like fantasy.
  12. eBay was created to get PEZ dispensers.... I still don't think Lego is one of the companies. Have they had a press release (even in the underbelly of lawyer news?) stating that they plan to persue eBay over re-sale of their product? Has there even been so much as a whispered rumour about it? Nope.
  13. I love that plane. I am now torn between buying more parts to make more of the planes, or making different ones (for my big project ) Do you have dimensions for the Robot (stud or inches or mm or cm or whatever)? I need to find it out for my one project to progress and I can't buy the set for a while yet. Great Review
  14. Still doesn't mean that TLG is one of these brands. I somehow doubt they'd be fussed about people buying and selling sets and parts. The fakes argument is over, not one set that isn't lego is tagged as Lego. It'll say "lego like" or "Compatible with major brands". It's dead hard to get fakes and most Clone Brands too.
  15. When the BBC reports it I will agree that it is a legitimate e-mail. Until such a time I don't know.
  16. You should paint the head green and have Bucky O'Hare...
  17. Ok, so I have it too (I ignore non-sales related eBay w-mails most of the time) I doubt that Lego will block online sales, it just isn't something they'd do. Plus they'd then have to stop all re-sale at car boot sales and the like to really have leg to stand on. I guess it is more likely to be the big grumpy brands like Apple Mackintosh iTrash and other overpriced yuppie rubbish that makes a big deal about that kind of thing.
  18. This is because you are ignoring the clear "flags" of each character. If a man with a twirly moustache and a black cape holding a big ball marked BOMB wandered past laughing maniacly as he shopped for , well, your average child would lable him a baddie, even though he is doing average things. So a bunch of guys with mean faces in orange jumpsuits with Flaming Black Skulls on the back, whatever they are doing, are the baddies. The snappy names on sets are just 'cool' and to attract attention. My Star Wars nerd friend likes the lego, but is really confused with the naming, mainly because the names of the sets featuring certain craft have different names on the box instead of the official names, the set names are snappier and sound better than a string of letters and numbers. I know my example falls down when applied to "grown-ups" but then Lego is made for children, so it doesn't matter that to an adult some sets look odd the marketing execs don't care. You have applied some very abstract "logic" to the images on the set because even kids who can't read can tell what is going on because the characters are Colour Coded For Your Convenience. These kids who the sets are aimed at.
  19. I am reading too much to list at the moment. Plus on the weekend I am going to used book paradise, so my "to read" list is set to grow... I will be getting more Discworld and lots of anything else that takes my fancy.
  20. Oooh, I have that on Vinyl Single! I have yet to listen too it. Any good?
  21. The gemstones, In green, purple and yellow. I used handfuls as filler, it was awesome, I have a creator pod full of them. Once or twice I found instrument panels too, that was cool. I like PAB walls.
  22. Lets see... Is it Star Wars? Then there is a chance it will end next year. Agents will probably end. I don't mind because I can keep on MOC-ing it. Bellville will more than likely end because anything specificaly for girls sells poorly. City is evergreen. Something city will always be there because it always sells. I'm sure that if Lego ended all of their regular themes there would be outrage. It is unfortunate that some of the best themes Lego have done are being ignored in favour of the Mass Media appeal. (See, when I was a kid Star Wars was a blip on the SF radar... but that is another story) That's how the world goes.
  23. Cake: Pretty Pink Ribbon P!nk: So What whatever else the random clicks on youtube link to.
  24. See, I don't mind. In fact, if I get my planned hair cut I'll switch the hair on my sigfig
  25. Yes, I noticed that the town impulse sets that are now in supermarkets are more expensive than when I bought them online. It's annoying but isn't too bad. If I remember rightly, impulse sets have been around the same price since I started buying 13 years ago! Its when the medium sized sets double in price we have to worry. We are in a recession you know.
