  1. Well, a theme that has captured my attention enough to stop my building any other theme, inspire me to start two of my biggest projects to date and to be happy just sitting and playing with minifigs, this, to me, is everything Lego should be. Today I sat and made new character using spare uniforms, i have two boxes, one full of dark blue, bley and silver, the other full of brown, black and orange. Both ready for me to MOC more Agents. As soon as Lego ends the theme I will be creating new adventures and "sets" on my own (It's successor will have to be something special to get me interested.) Agents is so good that I forgot my disappointment at the ending of Exo-Force. I have yet to intergrate my Alpha Team characters but I have been creating links between the two groups...
  2. Yes, it is there now. Thanks, I was rather confused by it's non-appearance and wondered if it was anything to do with being in a special group. Thank you for fixing it
  3. Ah, I was wondering whether that was the problem. Thanks for the quick reply. Messers' Moderator? A little assistance please?
  4. Ok, so I have over 700 posts, firmly placing me in the appropriate rank for making a poll, I have searched the "New Topic" page every time I start a new topic, even going so far as to use the 'Find' funsction on my browser. I have checked the alt-text for all of the buttons and icons on the page yet I am still unable to post a poll. If anyone can help, please do?
  5. My MOCs get noticed, even if no one says a thing. I have found ideas and building methods that have helped my building. I can have contact with Star Wars on my own terms and with little issue. I can find pictures of new lego sets and discuss them with others. I can talk about my favourite thing without people rolling their eyes and calling me childish. I am encouraged by positive comments and find solutions to weak points in my MOCs from the critical. I have found a community that is mature and level headed (with a few exceptions), there are not a plethora of topics complaining about new members not "getting it" (the major reason I am no longer a member of a steampunk community I used to quite active in) or that their idea of "it" is incorrect or silly. Most of all, it's cool to be on a forum about Lego, which isn't full of children and sharing my MOCs doesn't mean I forefit ownership of the idea.
  6. Well. Nearly all of my MOCs are three hour jobs. From idea to full build in that space of time, granted I do little else while for the whole three hours (sometimes my legs go numb...). Then I photograph and post within a few days, unless it is a series of MOCs. I have two big builds, one I have been dropping a few hints that I am doing it, but nothing about what it is or how it will look (beyond a length) another is my Inferno HQ that I have been posting about and is being built in sections so that one is a WIP that I post about. I want my other project to be a big surprise. I have only been discussing it with my little brother and my nerdy friend, to figure out how it should look and which elements of different inspirations I should use. I hope to have it done within six months (collectiong together the parts will take a long time, and I anticipate the build to take a few days) as at the moment I am in the planning stage.
  7. Another FFOL? Welcome! I love that I am not so unusual anymore! Post MOCs, talk about stuff, enjoy!
  8. After LegoLyons' recent ET poser I had a great idea. I know it isn't true to the scene in the film itself, but it's still funny.
  9. Mmmmm...Chrome. King Gold's tomb. He also accepts all major precious metals.
  10. "But I don't like spam..." I also adore the "How to confuse a cat" sketch. It is telling of our cultures however, to see that Life of Brian is the favourite of the British but Holy Grail is the American favourite. The funniest joke in the world and the Dentist sketch arte my faves Killer Cars and the granny eating pram (about midway through)
  11. I think you are being a leetle bit dramatic there... But if you are so offended by this forum I guess you'd be better off elsewhere. If you can't have fun somewhere then it's better to leave than get miserable. Thanks for the Alpha Team discussion thread, if you find some forum that is a better fit, enjoy your time there and always have fun with Lego.
  12. Ah well, we will all meet up in Windsor next year. So that will be fine. Unless we have scared Crystal away... The nearness is a bit of a stretch... We are both from the UK but Cardiff and London are rather far apart (from a British perspective anyway) but hey, proof I'm not the only girl in the UK who is classed as adult and plays with Lego!
  13. Heh, this has given me a great idea for a MOC... I love your film posters, they are really clever. Any plans to use the new huge sharks for other Jaws film posters?
  14. Those are good (*Cloud fangirl*) Great Cloud hair, I made mine by painting Exo-Force hair. Great customs, those brickforge parts work really well. I was thinking of getting some for my custom Zach. One brief point: You can get a pink bellville ribbon that would work well in Aerith's hair, just one minor missing detail with a simple solution.c
  15. Sockpuppetry may be an interesting sideline, but my interest in Pirates is passing, and I would never go Navy... Proof of uniquness! (If there was ever any doubt) Now we await the Windsor trip next year to confirm that dopplegangers are not prevelant. Please forgive my verbosity, late at night I can become more random.
  16. I saw this earlier, but had to go for tea and it was locked when I got back to my computer... I have to say that this is one of the better forums I have been a member of. It's active and well moderated, even if some of the bannings could be a bit more transparent... I find that most of the time the decisions are consistent even if I don't agree all the time. I also like that this forum isn't clogged with spam, flame wars and "n00bish" posts. I wanted to join an AFOL community not inflicted by FanDumb and this site is perfect apart from a few instances that grated. Lego does't make lots of sets purely for collectors, there are a few sets and figures every year or so. I have never once come across a vulture like adult fan taking all the best sets away from children. Proof that Lego makes thigns to appeal to all: The new catalogue cam today. Mum looked at it and adored the carousel and the modular houses. My little brother looked at it and "AWESOME"-d every page. My Dad looked at the little leaflet about the board games. My other 16yo brother looked at the Star Wars. My Mum, Dad and 16yo brother aren't that into Lego, my little brother is a child and loves everything Lego sell. BrickBuster seems to be exactly what he is decrying. Taking it all to seriously. My most favourite thing about this forum is that I can completely avoid Star Wars (mostly anyway) which is a good thing
  17. 1. I use CAD in work during my lunch break, MLcad is too much for my laptop to handle and I can't download software to office PCs. 2. I haven't got the space or tools to make accurate measurements at home, I could tray taking some of the more complicated elements to work... I don't have a desk at home (my Lego barely fits as is..) I also find CAD a whole lot easier than using a ruler and a pencil, I always doubt any data I record without mechanical assistance (mild dyslexia related issue, can't read anologue clocks or dials to save my life and rulers can get really tricky). 3. The one project hit a wall in the design stage, I need more refrence images (which the Blu-Ray release should take care of, at the end of the month)and to make some final decisions on how I really want it to look. This is a newer project that is much easier for me to persue in terms of space, parts and building techniques. As it stood, I needed to get a lot more experience in building modular houses/buildings before I started. This new project will be extrapolated from my years of experience and practice in making Lego space ships and planes. As for space, although it will be long, it wont be anywhere near as tall as my older project. I hope to get MLCAD once I have my own PC, which at the moment means getting my own place and therefore more space... So all my issues would be solved by moving out, but then things would be too much money...
  18. Yeah, I have a three hour drive to get there Crystal lives in London which is rather close. I live about an hour from Cardiff.... Age calculations? ho hum. Math nerdage...
  19. Hello and welcome to the forum. I trust you shall certainly find a niche. Could you tell us a little more about yourself? Favourite theme? MOC-er or collector? Anywhom, enjoy the forum and such.
  20. This is what is meant by the lorry. I suppose it could fit under the Mobile Command too... Thanks for the tips, I was thinking of using the smaller hubcaps, I might change it again if something catastrophic happens to my MOC and the front will probably be subject to re-works until I find something I really like.
  21. Well, it is very basic. I use the dimensions of the bricks to draw the parts in 2D, then I made my "point of refrence" parts, the elements of the MOC that I am building from to work it all around. In this case they were the 12x6 wings and the 16 x 8 tiles. I have placed the line drawings of them to create a floor plan. If I had more time to spend drawing my own things and we had more lisences for the full AutoCAD 3D I would model it in 3D too. Drawing each element is time consuming but better than trial and error in building and buying parts.
  22. 54 at least according to Brick Link. Which is good, but not excellent.
  23. Thanks, I'll take a look at the link. I need to get some calipers or something to measure some of my elements too... I have been planning the project for about three months now and only just resigned myself to drawing it all on AutoCADt. It's surprisingly easy, apart from having to switch between mm and studs when figuring things out!
  24. I have a rather large project in hand and I wish to plan the entire thing using CAD LT. Now, I have your basic single stud brick dimensions and plate widths. I have worked out a method of drawing the bricks of all shapes and plates of all types at 1:1 scale. However: I cannot find the diameter of a stud, the position and diameter of the holes in technic bricks or the sizes of pegs and pins. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If it's in mm it'll be even better. Everything else is easy enough, as minifigs don't matter at the moment (I am working on 5 Bricks stacked = Minifig and headroom). My idea is to create each layer of construction as a 1:1 scale on a sheet of paper, then I can check what I need to buy and then lie each layer out over the diagram for assembly. Some parts are going to be elevations, some are going to be exploded diagrams and others simple floor plans. I finished drawing the layer I am working off (down and up) today and its 960mm long! (96cm) Now there are quite a few steps to go and design desicions to make which involve more complicated parts than simple bricks and plates. This project is a great way for me to keep in practice with CAD, and a great saver of time for such a large project. So, if anyone knows of links, or has a list of dimensions I would owe them big time!
  25. Alpha Team was awesome, but Agents is a worthy successor. I loved Alpha Team but couldn't afford any of it. I had a Squid and Skeleguard and Ogel's little ship. I have recently grabbed a few sets on ebay. Agents and Alpha team combine wonderfully though. My favourite set was the helicopter. I liked the plain sets not themed to a certain area. The arctic mission was pants. Agents is fantastic. It has captured my imagination beyond "Awesome, girl characters with names!" as with Alpha Team. With Agents I have hundreds of MOC ideas and plans, I have put some of my Alpha Team characters in Agents uniforms. Alpha Team planted the seed but Agents is my idea tree.
