  1. "Aysu is the name." The gunner took a slice of pizza to eat, the battle had worked made her hungry. "Gunner for hire I guess!" She took a hearty bite of pizza. "So protected flowers huh? Not bad stuff at least. Just like, grey area."
  2. Not only due to production costs but also the immense amount of legislation and safety regulation put onto magnets in toys in even the last ten years.
  3. Yes, that was a thought when I was puzzling it out, but I have not got around to trying it out. The "mosaic" of green flower buds and white tiles was an easy option when I first started. Part of the appeal of the chalk figures though, is they look nearly natural as the hillside they sit on was not levelled out to create a flat plane. Not even starting with the aesthetic of the figure itself: To go with the "spirit" of the horse (as I have heard the prehistoric dated Uffington Horse referred to) or a less abstract horse figure that looks like the majority of later examples. I will try and make something a little tidier than my scrappy attempts (at least get some colour consistency in there) and have photos up.
  4. It is forever! I want to MOC, but got a bit lazy with putting things away so I now stuck with a lot to tidy into the right places, not to mention newer set purchases to part out and sort in.
  5. It has been a while. Anyone have any ideas for things they'd like to see around here? More chances to earn tags? A building game? Further MOC indexing? Trying to drive some creative activity instead of hanging about in the doldrums and the negative spaces.
  6. To those not familiar, chalk art is a kind of geoglyph cut into hillsides, mostly in England. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_figure I have been trying to make one to have in a MOC landscape. However, the mosaic technique looks too flat (For context, it is something I want to put into new Adventurer series of MOCs set within exploration of ruins closer to home ) but adding a few extra layers here and there looks too blocky or a mistake. I have been playing with SNOT techniques also but have dislike the end result more. Has anyone seen a MOC of this sort of thing before? I'd like to see how others achieved it. Any tips for it? Currently google is not bringing anything handy up and it seems to no be something people have made much, mostly a confused mix of the actual real landscape art and white LEGO horses.
  7. "Thanks for the offer, but hang on to 'em for now. We might pick up something handy later on that we can trade, or you could get a good price selling them on." Aysu suggested. Hearing a few flag words, Aysu looked to Bertram "Supplier, just what would you be supplying huh?" "Anyone got the order book? Dagger can use that to write in."
  8. Hi Matt! (I can add you to the collection: One Brother in law, a college buddy and three different former co-workers!) Here on EB the uploader does not have space, it is really for an avatar. If you use any image hosts (I like Flickr and Imgur) then you can load images onto those sites and link them into posts and threads here on the forum. Hope you enjoy the site
  9. You're not many posts off it! It is to prevent spamming issues, sort of.
  10. Sure, now I am being offensive, not speaking from my personal experience or anything at all. While some people like to jump around and broadcast about themselves in every possible way, I like to keep things private, so please do not presume any intention that is not there. Flippant maybe, but not derogatory A mis-step? Perhaps, as tone is difficult to convey on this platform instead of face to face. I can easily say; you don't know me. You don't know what I have to deal with in life (thus maintaining a level of privacy about myself) and what efforts I make to try and keep the forum a bearable experience for all. I and other staff have swept off some pretty nasty things before anyone can be hurt by it. Here, on this site? I identify as an AFOL and that is all that is of any concern for EB apart from those I consider my close friends. I am sure you will disagree with me, but there we go.
  11. I think MAB put it best. And add the works of Joss Whedon. Not seeing much pushback over The Avengers and such. My personal views and experience is complicated in relation to the current trend in LGBT(QAZ#+etc, I can't keep up with what you need to use, the flag even changed since I was growing up and figuring things out), and not for discussing here, a site to talk about plastic toy bricks. But TLG are just like any other business: They want money. Including the "pink £/$/€" and the HP fandom cash. Limited morality, just whatever gains the profit. Take the dispute to a platform that gets notice, it will help a lot more. I feel that EB doesn't have any clout to help any cause (these days for sure.) Not saying gtfo, just thinking people can swell a bigger crowd for action elsewhere. I know that Stop Funding Hate managed to get TLG to suspend promotion with The Daily Mail by putting on pressure in the right places.
  12. Aysu looked at their remaining foe. "I would listen to him if I were you." (Persuasion attempt by Aysu)
  13. As such, completely tangential to LEGO and not necessary to post here? LEGO has a license with Warner, not with the writer. Warner are creating properties within the "Wizarding World" So a lot of Fanfiction and not the books themselves that were written by the writer in question.. People disagree with her, people are free to boycott the products, but everyone is entitled to an opinion on whether they want to or do not want to purchase the products. I somehow doubt the massive theme parks will detach from the Harry Potter Brand either Sure, if LEGO announces a The Cuckoo's Calling based sets, it will be more problematic as it would be a new deal and not one that has been ongoing for quite a long time now. No one boycotts Hugo Boss, or Ravensburger or any of the other companies that are pretty filthy if you look into their history.
  14. Unpopular opinion: The surcharge of "branding" is annoying when it comes to creator sets. The Fiat 500, the Vespa? They are great colours and a great parts selection which I would love to bulk up my MOC parts collection with, but they cost more than I want to pay for a set I am using as a parts pack.
  15. "Oh heck. Sorry!" Aysu stood aghast, it looks like their enemy confounded her way too much.
  16. "If that is more handy, sure. Anyone want to see to Enson, I could do that if you're all working on those jerks?"
  17. "I do not like changelings, not one bit..." Aysu shook her head, she could have sworn she targeted their enemy and not her teammate. Stepping back to E5, she fired on Dagger. "Sorry Jonk, these pair have me all mixed up."
  18. "My bad dude, all these copied faces!" Aysu apologised. "Maybe if I fire on Dagger instead eh?" Smiling wide, Aysu laughed at Jonk's comment. "First time I have faced changelings Jonk, but yeah, missions can get pretty random!"
  19. Also: Technically I am hoarding LEGO, as I have not had a chance to go and build for a while (Colder in my build space, lack of room to work etc) but almost all of my collection is in boxes sorted by element or element group. Plus, some of my collection is in MOCs I do not plan to take apart ever, or for a very long time at least. Certain of my MOCs have been built for over ten years now and I like them as they are and don't need the parts so on display they will stay. Is that any different to buying a large or complex set to build and display?
  20. "Here goes!" Aysu moved to E4 and fired at Cloak "That is for stealing my face!"
  21. With the mimicked faces no longer her own and a successful shot, Aysu was feeling a bit more with it. "So, if you guys want to dance about, where's best for me to get my shot?" Aysu watched her teammates. "Gotta get a pistol or something, shoot the closer types..." Brawling in a restaurant was not the best for sniping. (OoC: I was thinking E4 and fire at Cloak, but if that is not optimal, I am happy to change.)
  22. Gatekeeping sucks. I prefer to buy and build, then tear it down and build anew. I will forever encourage people to get creative and make, but I won't stop anyone who wants to collect sets and display. Not my cup of tea but each to their own. It does frustrate me when cool colours of parts and cool parts are stuck behind a high cost set (Like the Vespa, love the parts and colours, so not a fan of the price.) Anyway, nothing wrong with either way, as long as you look after them! (BiL collects but leaves stuff lying around where it breaks and goes missing!!!)
  23. (Sorry guys, friend had a family emergency so I was looking after her cat/house, but no internet and the phone signal was too spotty for data to be reliable!) "Even more freaky there!" Aysu looked to her "twins". "Kinda unfair for it to be changelings that are the first time I see anyone else who looks like me..." Some of her brightness faded a little at that, but Aysu heard Enson's directions and Jonk' calls. "Right, gonna get some payback" Aysu followed Enson's directions
  24. "Okay then." Aysu chuckled and made a grab for Dagger, as that changeling was closest.
  25. "Freaky." Aysu got a bead on Cloak. "So Enson, you know that I have good aim yeah?"
