  1. Gasp! Lego is fashionable! I must leave and only return when no one else likes it anymore I got to say, the price is a bit insane, all things considered. But then it isn't "designer" without at least two digits in the price. Good for them, creating a business from nothing that has cracked a lucrative market of dull rich people
  2. True, true. I was just impressed that they mentioned Hilary Page and Kiddicraft. I think I'll check with my grandparents if the article was in the print magazine too (they get that paper for the crossword). It'll be easier to show my little bro' it than having him stare at a computer screen..
  3. You should smurf yourself one out of Lego!
  4. How are they fake bricks? Sorry to snark but even Lego can count as a fake considering that they were taken from an existing design that was so slightly altered its hard to tell the difference... So those helmets do fit on Lego heads? I thought the peg inside them didnt fit onto Lego heads or is that just some of the older sets? All my Sluban riot helmets don't go on at all... It's also interesting to know that Sluban and Oxford are one and the same, I'd heard that one was a bootleg of another.
  5. Don't blow your cover! My last title was Invading Alpha Lady, as I was the first entrant into the Star Wars Invasion contest with an Alpha Team themed creation, and I am a Lady (*baa*)
  6. Great Envy... I would love to get an Oxford Set (I lean more towards the ancient korea sets). Brilliant review, covered all needed points.
  7. It'll haunt you. Trust me. (note title, thanks Svelt)
  8. Ok, so I just noticed my title change... In my defense it is only because I use google news to keep track on news about Lego and the link was there. I read Metro and the BBC! Honest!
  9. Here is a rather interesting article about Lego. Granted, it repeats some facts and figures that are in every article about Lego ever published, but there are some interesting infographics and photographs and some insight into some AFOLs biggest bugbears. I am afraid I can't vouch for the single comment, but then it is the Daily Mail... (If you are from the UK you'll get what I mean)
  10. I love Going the Distance(?) not heard many other tracks but that is the best of what I did hear IMO. I am listening to Bad English, When I see you Smile... yay, cheesey 80s ballads
  11. Well, our first console was a PSone when the PS2 was out... So as a generation behind I want a Gamecube or a Dreamcast . We have a Wii and my annoying younger brother has an Xbox360. I am not the best of gamers, making a better player two and "point" than anything, so I don't play often. All of the games I like best and want to play go on my DS or a PS2. I like the Wii at parties, we take Mario Kart, Brawl and Guitar Hero along and have a great time. I still have no idea which "next gen" console I want as neither big dog has an exclusive I have to own. For a long time it was PS3, but then I bought myself BluRay and Final Fantasy became non-exclusive... I think it will all come down to cost when I get around to purchasing a console. I will see what you all think about your consoles to help!
  12. Brasso and a cloth I think there are a lot of topics about removing printing from Lego in the Minifig Customisation Workshop that may help also.
  13. That is still knocking around the house. I can always remember it being there and as the oldest it was certainly mine, and I was born in 88, a year before they stopped producing it... That was more than likely the very first Lego Product I ever had.
  14. That's really good I was wondering whether to do the same with them as I have seen a lot of different Smart Cars with colourful/patterned panels (they are popular as company advertising cars in the local area). The basic design makes it a fun mod and you can populate your town with lots of small but different cars.
  15. Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma. Not sure of their equivilant in other countries but there are quite a few students international students in my class. I have applied some of the engineering principals I learned into my Lego Building. It has certainly made my framework sturdier in MOCs and once I have more space I plan on designing and building a bridge out of Lego using what I have learned. Our final exams include an open book exam all day designing a bridge and I plan on bringing some technic bricks and pins to help me model it in 3D. Lego also helped me revise the types of support/pins/fixings on beams and the forces that effect them. It is certainly an ineresting subject that Lego probably got me into a long time ago (my uncle had quite the collection of Technic and he is now an Environmental Engineer). Somewhat proves Lego's research right.
  16. Do we have any more ideas on pricing? If they want to compete with the umpteen other trading things here in the UK they'll have to be competativly priced (which will be great for me) or they will never break the strangle hold Crazybone's Go-Gos have on the market. If quality is good too then that's fantastic.
  17. I collect Non-Lego brands, I would kill for some Kiddicraft Bricks... I also seem to have collected superhero t-shirts quite by accident. I have a fair few now. Leather Jackets and Coats can be added to the list, I have four at the moment and am tempted everytime I go to town, TKMaxx, the vintage shop in the city, the vintage shop near my university... Plus I am getting some off a friend who was given them but doesn't like them...
  18. I am studying for an HNC in Civil Engineering this year, this is the final year of the course, next is an HND which I hope to start next year. It's a part time course so I go to uni one day a week. The aspect I like best at the moment is the structural analysis, even if I did fail the phase test (not a fan of exam conditions...). Last year the best bit was the geology side of things, as it is one of my many interests that has been in my life as long as Lego . As for the job, my favourite part is all the nice areas we go to as Monmouthshire is a lovely section of Wales. Once we had to walk about half a mile through fields and over the railtrack to set up on the banks of the Severn River/Bristol Channel. It was a beautiful and a lovely spot.
  19. There is already the exact same topic Here... In fact some (or all) of you posted there... It's not even that old a topic.
  20. I work fo the local Council in the Highways Infrastructure and Projects section. I assist the Land Surveyor and the Engineers with different things that involves site visits to resurfacing works, bridge works and for the surveying: Fields and Roads in the middle of nowhere. They buy me big steel toe, heel and midsole boots for use on site . My post is Technical Assistant but it may as well translate to gofer at times . Its a good job and as I mentioned earlier, I am training to be a Civil Engineer sponsored by them.
  21. Heh, Doc Martens indeed. New Rock 236 is the specific pair, sadly my size never seems to be in stock anywhere (if they even make them ). There are four very goot shoe shops in the city that sells the boots I adore. Randome Fact: I can't stand shoes. I own about three pairs and all of them have insane heels and are "odd" in most people's eyes . I only wear high tops or converse shoes in "sport" shoes. This stems from long term boot wearing (six years), genral dislike of most shoe styles and the phsycological truma of really bad shoes when I was in lower school (aged 12,13 and 14), peer groups are not kind... I now have a job that I should wear boots to every single day
  22. Again, that is just as random, confusing and annoying as posting in much older topics about rather dated "current events". They are threads that do not age well and clog the front page. Reading them is fine, it is the posting that vexes.
  23. At the moment I am looking for some boots that look like knee high Doccers with a steel heel, purple flamed mid calf boots and chrome silver knee length. Also surplus army boots.
  24. Saying things like that do get up their noses... It must be reminded that this is a site for Adult Fans of Lego, if member behave accordingly they can remain, if they behave otherwise then they get banned. Please remember this. It isn't a case of not caring or letting it slide, it is according you the privilege as a reward for mature behaviour. Also, if I haven't mentioned before, I am 21.
  25. I am no longer stuck under a chair, I hope... Yay, ruins time!
