LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion

But Rick!! We have seen a few poor photos taken in secret of a Toy Fair display that no one but people who might possibly sell them were supposed to see! We have to find things wrong with them and reasons to make complaints when we actualy won't have any concrete proof (but who needs that anyway) until the summer! now who will see thist is sarcastic? -

It's no problem. Well, those stands do seem to come with the figures. As for plastics, oh well. They are unlikely to kill you if you do buy them . -

The mixed part theory has already been debunked, both by the images and the hypothosis of market share. We discussed it to death a while back but it seems the rumour will not die. -
I am not going to trawl through this topic to see if this has already been said (sorry KimT) as you all know my views. However, as a nice person I decided to post this bit of info from Crave: "We can't show you any of the new Clone Wars sets, or our favourite of the new range: a brilliant Lego version of the Wampa creature in an ice cave, celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back." From their coverage of the London Toy Fair 2010. Have a nice day.

My mum actually likes the emo kid the best. You have to have "uncommon" figures but it doesn't mean they are impossible to find, its just likely there will be two/three in each big box as opposed to each box having all the figures in the collection. I don't mind. With a price like that, if I put the change I would spend on crisps, chocolate and pepsi while in work into a jar, at the end of every week I can buy two or three figures and if I add the money I would spend on Starbucks hot chocolate and food when in town on saturday I can buy another two figures. It's good for my diet and means I spend my money on figures -
They did some like this a few years back, some turn up on eBay (GI Joe ones too). If they are availiable in the UK I will pick one up and review it Link to another site with more related pictures and information.

Grandmother! I wonder where the rest of the letter is? Oh, and I was thinking (how many statues are there? So much milling around an revealing new ones) N S E W are compass points, maybe we need to stand, or put something at these points? Are the statues in this position or should we all stand in the right places. Does anyone have a compass?

Shadow's gave me this title. Kind of self explained, what with my reviews of clone brands and such.

Oh good, that means BrickLink re-sellers will not be able to sell them at extortionate prices because know they are cheaper plastic and moulding, then I will be able to get as many as I wish of any one figure for a sensible price So long as it is shiny and not poison then it's fine by me. -
Maybe the victims are the statues... Or yet to be discovered bodies *shudder*. I wonder where all those stones are falling?

Stop! I want them already.. No More Teasing PLEASE. I so neeed some. Like now. -
Well, it looks like I have found something too. Another Piece of paper... Can I look at the paper I have found and see what is written on it
-
Thanks for all the advice I think I will try to replace figures using brickzone's tips and my part replacement total method. I would like to display complete at some point and the figures will just finish it off
-
Well, I think I will see how many parts need replacing then decide, if it costs a fair bit to replace broken/missing parts then I won't get the figure, if it is in great condition ands all that is missing is the figure, I'll get the correct figure. Seems like a good compromise.

My list has changed! I have added Hark! A Vagrant Escape from Terra (on Bigheadpress.com) and removed quite a few, for getting boring/wierd/annoyingly immature. Hark! A Vagrant is like xkcd but for history and Escape from Terra is a SF series concerning colonies in space.

OH MY GOD! *clutches pendant and mutters darkly about knives: the lack thereof* That is creepy, creeepy! Can I check under the only other X marked tile, unless of course they ahve all been checked already
-
Urgh, Conundrum! The most expenisve figure is the Red Guy and he comes in only the one set... I am beginning to think I should just get the original ones regardless of price...
-
Not one figure is perfect, the $4 one is infact cracked slightly... It's annoying really as I would love to have them to display with some figures.
-
Um, I said figures (no mini in sight) and I have no Technic Figures, they stopped making them when I was about 9 or 10 when technic went back to more model making than "combat" kits and I wasn't that interested in expensive technic when I could get cheaper impulse sets. I can find figures on Bricklink that would fit nicely with the sets for less than a dollar, all those guys cost in excess of $5 and I don't pay that much for any one Lego part.
-
Would poking the red X tiles with a stick (standing at a safe distance) sound like a good idea group? I ask as I wouldn't like to trigger a rolling rock of doom, like in the movies...
-
Now the thing is, I have no childhood memories of them. They are two years older than I am... My uncle gave me his old Technic sets a year or so ago and I would like to display them, I'm not a big technic builder so it would be wasteful (in my mind) to just dump them into the MOC boxes. However I strive for completeness and would like to add some technic figures, even if it isn't the figures that came with the sets for display. This is why I wonder if I need to get the exact figures for the sets and whether people agree or disagree with going for a cheaper option with set restoration.

So, as noted in the What is your oldest set? thread I have three sets from 1986. Now I plan on getting all the instructions, taking them apart and cleaning the parts then checking for and replacing any missing parts. I know right away that the figures are all gone, sold in the mid 90s by my uncle (in questing for a mountain bike) however the exact figures for the sets cost $4+, which is not extortionate but it still quite pricey. My question is thus: Would it be criminal if I simply chose cheaper figures that suited the sets to replace the missing ones? Is it wrong to replace a rare and expensive part in a set with a cheaper suited counterpart? Discuss
-
Ho ho ho. The problem is that all these sets are made from white... I have to hope that under all the dust the white is still nice and new. I don't think they sat out in sunlight for a long time, but they are somewhat grey at the moment. Now I know what they are I should be able to get instructions for them. I'll have to do a review once they are all cleaned up and any missing bits replaced (including the maxi figures).

Ok, so I checked the loft. I have three sets from 1986. Polar Copter, Snow Scooter and Arctic Rescue Unit. Now all I have to do is download instructions, take apart, clean and get any needed replacements before re-building.
