  1. Saw the rather large advert in the Sun this morning (we collect the holiday tokens, not page 3 stunnas) the bricks are also like Tyco, half a Lego brick tall.
  2. Oh, this is a hard one. I am a MOCer through and through but recent output from certain themes has been fantastic. I certainly buy sets for parts and minifigs but some I have been reluctent to take apart because they look so good. When I was younger I barely ever kept a set together for a few days and built as much as I could. So I am mixed, leaning towards MOCs.
  3. Um, Might I be able to check the parchment? It may be grandmother's hadwrighting again... *holds up pendant* Do the gems match at all? I want to check the parchment and gem, not take. Just see if they are similar to the earlier parchment and my gem
  4. When building figures for a ship: Step 1. Colour scheme. Your ship has to have a colour scheme, therefore match the figure bodies to the ships main colour and their headgear to the secondary colour. Step 2. Purpose. What sort of ship is it? If it is civilian then colour scheme isn't as important. If it is military then choose something inside your colourscheme that looks like uniform and equip them appropriately. Step 3. Heads. Again the purpose of the ship is important, if it is a lab ship then it needs "smart guy" faces, if its an exploration it needs a mix of tough guys and smart guys. Merchant? It needs a boss and some laid back staff types. Military? Tough Guys and an old tough guy. See I usualy make my figures first and then build my ships but when I don't that is what I do. If your collection can't help then browse bricklink torsos by whatever fields you need.
  5. I was Googling Lego new when I found an article here . About a new Lego community Cl!ck. But I don't know how to embed video...
  6. You know what? The floor might have loose tiles or hollows. I think I'll tap them to find out. I would like to tap each tile carefully so as to discover anything odd but not set of any traps. If that is possible
  7. Maybe it can be turned or shoved around too. Maybe something is under it like the rock out side. I would like to help with the statue
  8. Ok, for all this arguing... Ralph S likes to MOC and doesn't like to have displays that include official sets. He prefers MOC-ed layouts as they make him feel more Special and ergo the layout more special. Teddy is pointing out that some prefer Sets if they are unconfident in their MOCing or just prefer to collect. An all MOCed layout, an all set layout and a mixed layout are all equal in all estimations. Both required a lot of time and money spent, both are loved and regarded with pride by their owners. Kay? Can everyone stop arguing now? Snobbery is inherent in any and all modelmaking hobbies, model train fans who hand build everything look down on the people who buy theirs in a box, who look down on the "mundies" (muggles, norms etc) who own just a train set. Scalextric fans who tweak and tune thier cars look down on those who have a simple boxed set. As long as you don't force your opinions on others or publicly vilify (i.e. say mean things to/about them) for doing something you don't like its all fine. Me? My planned layout (and first since childhood) is a MOC/Mod/Official mix because it is themed in such a way that only a few official sets fit in, so I have to make my own and modify others to fit most of the time.
  9. COCKROACHES!!!! Aaaaaaa!!! Ok, so the anagram was solved and I got covered in cockroaches . So silver will save our souls. *Holds locket*.
  10. For a while they were combined with some stud-based construction bricks. I have a Batman set but I cannot find any others. As for the figures, I do not collect as I prefer large scale action figures.
  11. Cool topic. I have the attention span of a butterfly in a flowerbed when it comes to Lego but I MOC everything, I buy for MOCing and I MOC any size I have the parts and space for. I don't like to build armies as I prefer unique figures. I buy some of all themes for their parts and figures. Thats about all I can say about it.
  12. It's the Triforce and I am so jealouse of you right now. I want that console so badly... I love the franchise but I am really not any good at the games. I never had a games console to play the games on. My friend is a huge fan of the DS games so I draw her some characters and buy the figures. I want to get Wind Waker and the GBA ports of the other games. I also would like to find the DS games for my DS.
  13. I wonder if there is anything under the nest? After all birds are a bit dumb and drop things from their nest a lot. I would like to check the area under the nest, maybe check nothing has been trodden into the mud Has the scratching sound stopped? It gave me the heebie geebies.
  14. Um, this scratching is worrying me *holds locket again and backs closer to Zachary* Is there any other clues about the place?
  15. So, I know I will buy the motorcycles for certain. I know I will likely buy the smallest to medium sized sets if they are sold in supermarkets. As for the rest of it, it'll have to have some awesome torso prints, cool new minifig heads and printed helmets (I love them) for me to spend money on. This looks like it will work out popular. Every generation seems to have some sort of crazy racing thing. This one will fit for a while.
  16. My grandmother came here once, many years ago. She went to see the lunar eclipse too. She never had much to say beyond some vague warnings about the place. (do I get to keep the parchment?)
  17. Well, that's ok then Zachy. Hey, I'm not one for anagrams but *looks to parchment* the sketch here matches the shape the stones make! Could that be significant?
  18. Really Zachy, if you didn't want to see the ruins I am sure I could have taken the trip myself. Would you help us move this rock? It seems to be really heavy.
  19. 6 inches deep. I went into work, got a lift as far as the bottom of the drive then walked up, took ten minutes to get up there. There were about four people on the phones opposite us and there was me and the head engineer in my office... I am in again tommorow too. Its great going to work in the snow
  20. For a small rock it sure is heavy... Is there anything under it?
  21. Has someone been on my facebook page? (last photo being me in my Lara Croft costume for a fance dress party in the summer) I used the sand blue torso from The Good Wizard figure, looks slightly more accurate. As for holsters, you can use one of the small black elastic band and put it on the figure the same way it would be worn.
  22. Sure. Want some help moving it? This fog is giving me the creeps and I need a distraction.
  23. If random parts are put in in the method you suggest then there is a likelyhood that some parts become rarer than others. There are 5 parts (Headgear, head, torso, legs and accessory) and 16 figures... If parts are randomly put in each bag/box you'd have to do it manualy as any mechanical means wouldn't be able to account for the infintesimle weight of the syringe but the pom poms would be heavy in comparison. It is cheaper for pre-programmed machines to package parts than a human who demands a wage.. I collected these buildable figures a while back. As gashapons they came in clear plastic eggs from a machine so you couldn't choose which you got. I collected final fantasy trading figures in blind boxes and gashapons from a machine (I have so many of one character I can loose/repaint them without issue). Blind box or "dispensed" is the way to achive the "collect and swap" without having parents decide parts are missing or children get cross at their space/robot/cheerleader/clown/crash test dummy that not only came in a blind box but cost more than a pack of trading cards/go-gos/Ben 10 Marbz. Trading with friends amongst children is a dangerous one so you need things of equal "value" or all parties concerned feel slighted (My sister works at a school and 75% of fights, arguments and trouble amongst the pupils are caused by trading cards and go-gos). Lego will loose seriouse face if they sell "incomplete" figures, something they don't want to do, what with riding high on a giant wave of parental nostalgia. They already have an issue with more "pre-fab parts" and "sets not designed for other models". Plus I think you'd be a bit miffed if you bought a transformer trading figure blind box and had and Optimus Prime head boxed with a Bumblebee body, Soundwave Legs and decepticon stand...
  24. Ok, so my room seems to have swallowed my DS (my sister is a mess.. thats £170 worth of gadgetry it has eaten) so I may need to buy a replacement (possibility that some lightfingered sonoffa- half inched it in uni, can't tell until the room has been cleaned up but I am not in the mood for A&E like it ended last time I tried) should I get another DS lite or go for the DSi and get an SP or Micro for my Gameboy Advance games? Granted this isn't going to be taken lightly but I need some advice from those who have used the new console while I mull over my options. You never know if some kind of periphral will come out that lets me play GA games on the DSi (or my mate gets them all on emulators and into an SD card).
  25. Eh, I like these Oxford sets, I have a Sluban Set to review along with a Best Lock set. Lego is the best of the brands but more people should acknowledge Kiddicraft. Tyco deserved to keep developing their bricks (still shiny fresh today while their contemporary Lego bricks are UV'd grimy and dull) and all power to the competitiors who seem to provide more bricks per box. Are the designs of the sets transferable to Lego? It would be cool to make those in sand green or tan/dark tan for rival factions or different environment operations.
