They look like Best Lock, maybe... Clone Brands is a blanket term for any building brick toy that isn't Lego but fits with it. The girl is a Hermionie (spelling?) head and hair with a random outift. The robber is The Brickster and there seems to be another random mixture figure with spikey hair and a star wars one with a brown head, possibly. I am insanely good at ID-ing minifig parts...

What you have there are a few misc. town figure parts, the chef and the guys with train logos seem to be set figures but the guy with shades is a mix of town and a Snap (from Xtream Stunts) head. You also have an Adventurers bad buy (with the top hat). The sadn blue shields are Star Wars and a few other misc parts from varying possible sources. The big tan bag, the clips and the "missile" are either clone brand (the clips and missile certainly) the bag might not be from a construction toy, looks more action figure like.

T-T I just missed the Argos sale. I was out all weekend so I didn't pop to town, nor did I see this post. I really want to get some more Fire lego..

Hello and Welcome to EuroBricks. Hope you enjoy your stay There is plenty to see and do here and do not hesitate to ask any questions. Congratulations on holding onto your childhood Lego, I too managed to keep mine, but there was never really a break in my building/collecting. Anywho, Welcome

I liked Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, for their showcasing many famous story arcs. As for the rest, well I am not a fan of the batman films nor the most popular portrayals. X-Men got steadily worse. I do not like to compare comics with the films, I hold the two incarnations as seperate and unique and judge them that way. I enjoyed: The Spirit, Phantom and Hellboy II. I liked Uma Thurman's portrayal of Ivy and the stylistic approach of Tim Burton's Batman.

Mega Bloks review: 1973 Iron Man 2 Aerial Attack
Peppermint_M replied to strider406's topic in Community
See, I do like the figures quite a bit, like tiny little action figures. Slightly less stylised that minimates. Those flames look great! Also: Does the "flying action" work like it is supposed to? Thanks for the review Yes it is an AFOL site, but myself and a few others have been reviewing clone sets here in the Community subforum, to let the rabid fans see what other brands come up with and the useful parts therin. -
I am slightly more interested in what would happen if Cumbre Vieja had another volcanic eruption. I am glad I live in a nice hilly area known for its height above sea level...

My Grandmother never told me any of this! I only came for a bit of a getaway with my Zach and to explore somewhere exotic that my grandmother had once been.. All these letters seem very contradictory and strange, just like the boy playing tricks on us.

I think I am going to move to army building.
Peppermint_M replied to ziljin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I prefer small teams of unique characters and task forces of about 5 - 10 myself. However a huge army in battle looks a whole lot more impressive. If that is what you prefer, go for it -
Sorry about the delayed reaction folks, laptop cable died on Wednesday and the battery ran out of juice. I will have the promised extra pictures up later tonight. I shall have to dig out a giant Troll (little brother liked them, so he should have one) and take a look. The new sword has a + shaped hilt, not the octagon or square, also it stands a little taller than a minifig, somewhat like Sephiroth's Masamune (ooo custom figure idea). I too am keeping a lookout for more, if the quality of the weapons is such a great standard, that is plenty enough reasons to get more

It depends what you want it to look like. Do you want brand new asphalt/tarmac roads? Go black. You want older looking go dark bley, you want concrete then go light bley. (Highways Technician... I know too much about roads )

World Racers Summer 2010
Peppermint_M replied to The Green Brick Giant's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
See, the more I look at the other themes and sets out in the summer, this is the one I want the most. All of it. I am drawing up racetrack sections and scenes, I am thinking of other competitiors and finish lines for each set. Like Agents, this theme has captured my imagination. -
Right: Thanks for clearing up the confusion there Tin7, I am used to getting imported sets that have at least a half hearted translation, not buying right from China, made a stab in the dark as to the original intent of the set. VBBN, the paper is sort of coated, it reminds me of glossy magazine cover paper. It has a similar thickness and gloss to it. I will be getting a photo of horse minus saddle later today. JCC, sorry I was talking to Alex the Great when I said Alex. As for clone brands vs Lego, I enjoy both. I am not a great believer in blind brand loyalty so I buy things I need and want from what provides it Plus I like to do these reviews so you can take a look at what other brands provide.

As with all Sluban, its really good. The head is a slightly different shade of yellow and the chrome a bit cheap looking but everything else compares really well to Lego. There is a similar gloss to the plastic and the flex/rigidity of the gear just like old Lego. The horse's printing isn't as sharp as a Lego one but in moulding and plastic it is an equal.
-
Yeah, but this Sluban set is a copy of an Oxford set, and Oxford is Korean, so the set is from an ancient Korea or Korean mythology theme. The characters are more than likely Chinese, where Sluban operates from. This is all just guessing as I have had very little exposure to non roman language, I have encountered a smattering of greek lettering in mathematics and some Japanese in manga but little else. and yes Alex, I do like my clones.

The other week I was browsing eBay, as all my sources for clone brands are closed, no longer stocking or too far away to make a purchase. Just as the results for my search “Toy Bricks” loaded, I noticed this set going cheap and ending in two minutes. A quick bid and this set was mine for £2.50 (p&p included). It’s our old friend Sluban, but this time the set is an Ancient Korea themed impulse. The box gives little away unless you can read the language. Sadly it was a little crushed in transit. The polybag. Not instructions are provided, but it is a bloke on a horse so it isn’t that hard to build. You can see the paper flag and cape/coat/armour thing through here. The bag contained this sprue of weapons, a horse, a saddle, the odd paper garment and a pole for the flag. The figure is dressed in the coated paper garment thusly. He has this lovely chrome gold headgear and a face sadly taken from Lego, which is a first for Sluban. The finished Set The horse is slightly larger than his Lego counterpart and has extra studs on the back, the saddle also looks a lot nicer than the Lego variety. Here are the bows and the swords; they too are slightly larger than the Lego, but can be held by Lego figures, the crown wouldn’t come off the figure, so I shall have to get a photo of that on a Lego figure after I have managed to extract the head... This set was a fun little thing, the horse, saddle and weapons are superb and the entire set size is appealing. Every theme needs an impulse like this, even though there was no building per se the horse and warrior are a compliment to any castle and it would be easy to build up a cavalry if Lego produced something like this. Hope you enjoyed the review, I am keeping my eyes peeled for more sets to review. Addendum: You requested it, so here are some more images! and by special request: King Warrior Mighty Quarryman

Moving out of the house sale.
Peppermint_M replied to PattieCake's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
What would UK postage be like for a few of these sets? Looking at these it reads somewhat like a list of what 9 year old me wanted, needless to say she is shouting at me to get these and my financial self is saying to check postage. 1383 Curse of the Pharaoh 15 euros and 2542 Adventurers Aeroplane 3 euros look very tempting. -
Now I had this set. It was a great one to play with and build. IT taught me a few tips for building my own planes and was certainly a must have for flying obsessed me. Thanks for the review I have the urge to go and MOC some bi-planes now...

World Racers Summer 2010
Peppermint_M replied to The Green Brick Giant's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
They sort've seem to resemble Hotwheels and Matchbox, like Brick Giant said, same thing in different colours. The skill needed to MOC a good one is certainly impressive, but as a theme they have never appealed to me. I did mention earlier that printed helmets and minifigs packed with character have alway appealed to me, so that is likely the major reason I only have free promotional TT cars. So yeah, I am certainly looking forward to a minifig scaled racing theme. -
What did you see? I am sorry to say that a quick power-nap left me in the lurch somewhat. Is there any sign of anymore teeth in the rubble?

Ah, you'll have to get Soul Silver then. No, I never did get a chance to play that one, used my friends Red cartridge and my ability at ice and rock puzzles to to convince him to let me play on his save file. My patience in the Safari Zone was also a boon. I bought all the others, but Gold/Silver came out in the space when I had no money and my friend was "too old" for pokemon.
