I had both by choice. When you are 10 and the choice is very little expensive Lego or quite a few cheaper Megablocks sets? The Grand Prix megablocks was my largest set to date, then I got a rather big Skate Park. It was great to have a lot of bricks to play with, even if the skate park would "ping" apart every now and then... Now all my clone brands reside in a box seperate to my Lego, supplying filler material and a useful distraction for children and those with the brain of a monkey (sigh, you can choose friends, but not their sense of humour. I was quite fed up of having to empty my large sharks of figures). I still use all the figure accessories and unique parts.

Well, Hasbro have the license to create Action Figures of Star Wars characters. Lego have a seperate license to create building toys based on Star Wars. In the early 2000s, Lego created "sets" that were baseplates with a card back, with a single figure stood on it. They had to stop making these, as they were getting a little too close to Action Figure for Hasbro's liking. The magnet packs are along a similar line. Gluing the figures to their bases making them fully magnets and not playable figures keeps Hasbro from causing a ruckus. The battle packs seem to be safe, they come with a building set that all the figures can sit on are fully within Lego's remit and far from Hasbro and theirs. You can try and argue that Lego figures do not count as Action Figures, but they are articulated figures, which in legal words are the same thing, and quite likely what Hasbro are given permission to make from LucasArts. (In fact, by the look of the old Star Wars figures, Lego figures have more articulation!). So Lego have to stop making detachable magnets.

My Lego catalogue for christmas had a calander with Cardiff Lego Store Opens! on the Monday 6th December. So, not grand, seeing as it is a school day and everything. I will be going on the Friday or Saturday I think. If anyone scouts it out beforehand...

It's impossible to be sure that any MOCer came up with a certain technique and was then copied by another. Especially Lego Set Designers. The nature of MOCing means that you can build a model and solve a design issue with a clever idea and post it online, only to find someone else has also done it or has done it before. It becomes a real issue on some sites where "small name big ego" builders or even "big name petty ego" builders catch someone else using a technique "they invented" and cause all sorts of plagarism arguments. Here, so far, it seems to be a non-issue. Even I myself have come across an unusual combination (Indy hat with firman mask for space cowboys) to discover it was used before by someone else to make a Cad Bane (which I didn't see, as I am not a star wars fan) but it was all cool. I think the one definitive "rule" is, if you really did build a MOC after looking at someone elses and made one using ideas they had you should credit them.

Oh they are so much better than the other kind of figures, I have quite a few and they keep losing their arms...

After I saw KimT's review of Brick TW products he mentioned that the swords were a little big for Lego Figures, but I immedaitly thought Final Fantasy! So when I got some, I used them to create these custom figures. Reflections of each other, one good one evil. They kind of fit into Using Star Wars, Space Police, Collectable minifigure, Racers, Agents, PoP and Brickforge parts alongside the Brick TW swords.

Right, this belongs in community according to policy (no worries, when I was new It happened too), so I will move it to community with this post. Old megablocks are dire, they have "sugard" edges they fit oddly and have some clutch issues. The newer bricks that come in say, the Halo sets, are much sharper in mould and colour. They also clutch much bettter. Tyco bricks are always hard to spot in massive mixed boxes, so take a good look through any older mixed lots you buy. Colour alone won't help you there!

Ah yes, but it is just America that seems to spell it that way and maybe this member has had the fortune not to encounter this strange method of spelling as yet Please no arguments on spelling differences between English and American, that is historical and we will leave it alone. Here is an informative little factoid for you to look at.

It was always a risk. The action figure makers have always eyed potential competition, waiting for a moment to strike. Magnet packs were just doing too well for them to stay back. Not meaning to cause issue, but the "cheap chinese plastic" thing is getting old. Can we all just drop it now that the figures are being glued? After all, you wanted cheap when you wanted figures in packs to avoid buying the pricey large sets. Also I nevert saw much of difference myself, might just be me not being as fussy though.

Ninja Go: Masters of Spinjitzu. Sounds a whole lot like one of the many cartoons I have a fondness for. The video looks like a trailer/opening credits for a saturday morning show. Now, if this is aiming to break into the battle card/toy market, a cartoon is exactly what they need (After all, that is what the popular and successful ones have done) I am going to put these ideas and take a wild leap.... Cartoon Series for kids tv? This would then mean that there could be several waves if the show gains any sort of popularity. Before you all cry "Galidor!" remember that the premise for a Ninja Go series is already playing off popular tropes of the genre. Also Bionicle did well as a series of movies and Clutch Powers must have made some money. I for one look forward to a potential series

Oh, didn't you know that Transformers is from Japan? I guess I might catch it, I haven't really watched since Armada when they played it on saturday mornings. I moved onto more intellectualy mature giant robot series. I miss the fun shiny sometimes.

Well, you got a website for booking a ticket on an airplane from somewhere near you to Heathrow or Gatwick (two airports by London) and it gives you a cost. You could also phone a booking service or get a package deal. That's how I made it to Kelowna in Canada last year. It cost me over £900 for a return ticket and my stay was free with family so I can assume it would possibly cost a little less to get from the US to London, but hotel stays aren't cheap in the city and you might have to factor into the cost the internal flights or travel you need to take to get from your home to an international airport that flies planes to the UK. In conclusion, it will cost rather a large amount. Just as I am expecting my BrickWorld trip to cost.

It looks very much like a Zoid and for that I love it. The colour scheme and "finish" is nice and understated which suits something graceful like a horse. The construction also looks good and sturdy, which is another plus point as too many mecha MOCs look like they are about to fall apart. The tail is a great detail. And you know what, it even looks Zoid Scale! I like this MOC

Ah, 8-wide is my favourite scale for racing cars. That is a great MOC, so the World Racer cars were exactly like the Speed Racer cars? Good to know, I have all the Speed Racer sets but wasn't sure what of World Racers to get.

I have a very over active imagination and a short attention span, because of this I move from theme to theme very quickly. As a result of these tendancies, I never really manage any large MOCs and layouts while my collection grows in all directions. I have sets from nearly every theme each year. Action themes being those that are perfect for me, with their short lifespan and varied content. My advice to you is this: If you find that there is one particular theme you really enjoy or like the look of, stick to it. If there is more than one, try to combine them into one for your own sanity! (like a space town, or a Fantasy world) it allows you to build greater things and create layouts and such.

*ahem* Everyone knows Lego sets should be super complicated greebled-to-hell messes that fall apart at the slightest breeze! */sarky off* I'm curious myself. The old plane reflected the trend in set design at the time and was infact a lot more "detailed" and possibly more complicated than the "classic" sets of yesteryear. I think many sets are accused of being <insert that tiresome argument> as they do not fall under the nostalgia filter of many members of the AFOL community. We are all tainted by nostalgic feeling, especially considering this is a childrens toy that many of us cling too for a variety of reasons but that gives no reason to throw such terms around in a derogatory manner. The only planes Lego created that anyone could call <insert that tiresome argument> are Duplo products. Large molded planes for little hands with no small parts, to avoid chocking. So in future members, consider what you are saying and why you are saying it. This is by no means a reflection of staff policy, just my personal bug bear.
