  1. Sorry, flying visit, but: Enlighten are not Clones, they are bootleggers. A clone is a legitimate company's products that combine and compliment Lego products. A bootleg is a brand (or many) that rips off the designs of legitimate manufacturers and utilise brand confusion (hence the "brick" in a red square logo) to shift fake, poor quality copies at a low price. This is why you will find a set that is an exact copy of an older Lego product but with terrible quality.
  2. Welcome to Eurobricks! You're in luck if Adventurers is your favourite theme, Pharaoh's Quest is a great successor to try and get hold of. Enjoy the forums and see you in Action Themes
  3. Mega Brands already has Hello Kitty.
  4. Brown is better. My figure had brown hands and it looks a lot more fitting than yellow.
  5. "Exclusive"? I think oriented would be a better word to use here. Lego wan't to appeal to girls, so instead of an all boy focus group they brought in an all girl focus group. Town is still plenty gender nuetral. There are lady minifigures and there are men minifigures all performing a variety of down to earth tasks, like driving the bus and running the shop. Yes, the town/city sets have wide appeal and are about the only sets I see picked up by girls (other than creator) when I go to the Lego Store. Everything else Lego does is aimed squarely at boys and therefore the parents of boys. Children may not have yet reached the point where gender flags bother them, but the adults with the cash do and no matter how free thinking they are, a set with a massive Ninja Dojo containing skeletons to knock over would never be bought for their daughter. TLG are making a theme for girls that will appeal to girls and their parents, avoiding the issue of simple colour coding (lots of pink) by actually working to design a theme similar to what the boys play with but with a slight slant that makes it girl oriented. Then, when the girls are buying this theme, they might want more bricks and buildings and traffic to populate their Lego adventure, so they will ask for more sets from other themes too. They will also likely find it fun and run out of theme (or affordable) theme and ask for something from the more "boyish" themes. TLG gets more paying customers in a demographic they hadn't had before. This works. I mean, who can I bet, on this website alone, started buying Lego again for the "neat Star Wars sets". They may have had a gap of 30 years since they last bought Lego. Yet here is some Landspeeder, or a cheap set full of "cool little Lego men Stormtroopers" and once they got that and built it, they wanted to get some more. Maybe that AT-ST set. "Oh man! They have an X-Wing!". Soon there is a lot of Star Wars Lego about and they have enjoyed the building, but significant other has drawn the line on more big expensive ones. But hey! There are these cool cheap Police/Castle/Random Theme sets that would help make Civilians/More Jedi/Bounty Hunters. They'll buy that instead! Soon their tastes have widened and they have lots of sets, more on the list and they might even MOC all over themes and buy anything that has cool parts. Thus TLG has another customer with money to spend. I know of a few myself, their username history might reveal their previous Star Wars centric past... Attracting girls to Lego provides them a whole new market. There are plenty of girls in the world and like any other toy company TLG wants to sell to them.
  6. Ah, fantastic, the Punk won't be hard to obtain. The gnome also has a rather nice looking torso print, perfect for a more well off peasent in Castle. A hunting I shall go come April
  7. We already have a massive discussion all about girls and Lego here. Can we treat this thread as a new theme discussion like in the other sub forums have, which in time could be moved to the appropriate area. Otherwise I will merge it with the other one and we can discuss the new theme in a fresh thread when more information is released. Thank you. Just an FYI: The only good Vampire is a Staked Vampire
  8. So, if a helmet based on the US army design is coloured black it is Nazi? That is the exact same helmet as the Toy Story army men headgear, except black. It looks nothing like a Stahlhelm apart from being black in colour. The helmet resembles a SWAT team design or just a regular kevlar helmet in black. Darth Vader's helmet was based on a Stahlhelm, does that make it Nazi? I mean the army has Stormtroopers in it and the Imperial Officers are just missing certain symbols, replaced with more "SciFi" details. Heck, costumers buy Jackboots! The entire Empire was the Reich IN SPACE. Does this make them Nazi and therefore deplorable and unpurchaseable? Or am I to bet that Cwetqo and co quite happily play with Star Wars sets, play the games and watch the films themselves? It is a skeleton with a black army helmet (The pawn of an evil Wizard/Ninja). Not a mass murderer.
  9. You can use the catalogue feature also, this is simply lists of part class and then images. Some of the classification is very confusing (at least in my mind) but is a faster way than trying to search the right terms. Glad I could help
  10. I want to give a great big thanks to ISC for making that great MOC and also proving that you do not need lots and lots of the theme specific parts to make an excellent MOC.
  11. Have fun everyone! I am a great fan of these themes, so show me what you got!
  12. Me too please. This time around it is the S3 Aviator jacket, the S1 Nurse Hair my regular face and Indy dark tan legs. Any sort of blaster or pistol but I think I am using a dark bley star wars hand blaster. No need for any sort of motorcycle
  13. Well the grey block is a motor that could have come in any one of these sets The beam/girder/suppport s in dark grey came in The Vampires Crypt Bricklink is very useful if you get the knowing of it.
  14. Having fun chaps and chapettes? I have to say, there are a lot more than the regulars in today
  15. Cobi is very good quality. Not quite TLG but better than old MB, on a par with MB's recent output. What you possibly bought was the last of the Best Lock/ Cobi sets, when there was a mix of Cobi/Bestlock branded boxes that had Best Lock brick but dual branding. There have also been Best Lock with Cobi stock. They had a partnership that went bad recently. I have been finding dual branded boxes with the same poor quality brick produced by Best Lock's old manufacturer, single branded Best Lock boxes with Cobi made bricks and then Best Lock branded sets with the old quality in. I have never seen pure Cobi in Wilkinsons (I go there weekly we have a large store locally) only Best Lock and other brands from a chinese manufacturer, sometimes with generic brand and sometimes with Sluban or even a Wilkinson's own.
  16. Oh, around 650 counted and maybe 670 with the unlisted figures added in.
  17. I'm sorry, Eurobricks doesn't accept mini-modding. Please stop or you'll only face future problems no matter how old you are. Umbra, keep the aged 17 thing on the downlow, stay mature in your posting manner and in a couple of months you'll be at the right age with no problems.
  18. Heh, Pippin Reed it the floosie. Miss Gail Storm travelled the desert, the jungle and the strange island where dinosaurs roam with Johnny (or Sam Grant as he was, is and always will be known by me) Pippin was thrown in. Pippin only tagged along for the Orient. (And her face print is weird). So now you know why Gail is in the camal train.
  19. My word, that is a rather marvelous MOC. I just had to frontpage it Great combination of themes folded into one classy looking scene. More please
  20. Deftly combining all the exciting Desert themes, Tervlon has created this fantastic MOC Click on the image to join the quest. Adventure is out there!
  21. Eh, I stopped giving Gizmodo my clicks a long time ago, bunch of apple sucking losers as far as the eye can see. Commenters are the sad basement man-children kind who get scared if things change, doubly so if they once liked but didn't keep up. Thanks for the pictures, wouldn't have seen them so soon otherwise!
  22. Please fix links thanks If we are speaking of Kiddicraft, I know that it has been said before, but far too many people ignore it. Here is an interesting site.
  23. I keep on looking I need to get my old laptop harddrive caddied up and connected so I can post all those other reviews I made before the graphics card died and took the laptop with it! I have been collecting images of generics in their varied packages as an illustration. It is fascinating how the same set has so many names and brands! The best part are the accessories in different colours than TLG products.
  24. Asking is the best way to not get one. Locking this thread seeing as the question has been answered.
  25. They are mostly Oxford style figures with a mish mass of headgear and weapons. K'nex guys are not on the same sizes as these figures. They have flattened heads and suchlike, meaning the headgear won't fit Lego figures.
