"That I did, slew a dragon and a rebel leader. Good times." Tesni waved farewell to Namyrra as the necromancer left for her newest quest. it was vexing that this meeting had been so short.
-
"Well, that is a good price. No problems." Tesni took out the ruby to exchange.
-
"Oh, sure. Take a closer look at the thing, I am looking forward to using it in battle." Tesni handed the blade across. "As for gems, I did aquire a ruby at some point. You want to add some fire to that smasher?"
-
"Well, I personally sliced the head off of the leader of the 108 stars." Tesni grinned. "Actually struck the killing blow on a fair few of those lowlifes. Not sure how much I like the country out there though." She took out her newest blade, "Got his one out of the deal though. How was the fields?"

They seemed to have combined two popular/regular DC stories with that Aquaman/Batman set. Mr Freeze has been polar bound in some of the most iconic stories involving the character. Also, a common enough story with Aquaman involves Orn/Ocean Master or some group working to melt the icecaps all at once to flood the earth. Though not many kids have any idea who Ocean Master is, or any of Aquaman's enemies and Batman's only rogue who would be actually underwater is Killer Croc and he is more swamps and storm drains than Aquaman compliant open ocean. I guess you could spin it as a Legion of Doom thing and Orn kidnapped/imprisoned Aquaman and has Mr Freeze helping out? Anyway. These new sets sound pretty interesting. I just hope they are decently priced! Locally, a lot of the current ones are kind of inflated considering the minifigs and parts count, even accounting for the characters.

Tesni grinned at the approaching fenarian pleased to see her again, "Long time no see cariad. We'll need to catch up once I finish this trade." She turned once more to Stigveladi. "150 gold sounds like a deal. The axe is yours." She was disappointed to hear the quest was called for others but others would come along.

6864 The Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase
Peppermint_M replied to Austin1800's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ok, I'm going to move this. Missed it the other day as I have been ill and a bit lax... -
"Well, it was useful in battle, but I did not really enjoy the feel of an axe. It has the power of 20, so it would cost 200 gold as a purchase, minus the cost of a gemstone to give it the power but I would only get 100 gold if I were to sell it off to Anwyl. Do you have an offer you would like to make?"
-
"Sure! I have heard that Dwarves have a special love for axes." Tesni took up the weapon and handed it over. "I won and used it in battle against the remaing Stars of Destiny."
-
"A lot of questing." Tesni replied, "and faithful weapons." she gestured to the array clinking and gleaming in their special harness.

(ooc: Tesni is a bit higher than that since defeating the Stars, Sandy! Mainly becuase I formatted my post wrong in the stat thread. Sigh) Sat at her table Tesni watched the quiet hall, interested that some more had returned.

Tesni the Barbarian Chieftain. Nice ring to it eh? These sound really cool. -
Oh hey, someone else from Wales! Croeso! Which particular part are you from?
-
Thanks guys! When she announced the date (21st August) she asked if I could make her a ring holder that looked like a castle. She liked the result. Sadly it did break but she's practical and likes that she has photos.

Ok, so I found that IDW have re-printed scads of Speed Racer so I will be picking those up!

Cartoon discussion goes into Culture and Multimedia, not in the Action Themes Forum. This is the point I am merging it with the existing discussion.- 4,591 replies

Here is the castle ring holder I built for my sister and her (now!) Husband. The king and queen had the rings hanging off the sword and cup, Batman and the Fairy are to represent my sister and her hubbie. There are a number of little added animals that they are both fond of. It has an extra little chunk under the plate of the base so my brother could carry it safely without covering/damaging any feaures. The officials at the registry office were very impressed with the model, the officiator of the ceremony said it made her day! (And then told every member of the family how much she liked it!) To set the tone, I must add that they walked down the aisle to the March from Superman and used her favourite arrangement of Aerith's theme while they signed everything. They cut the castle shaped cake with a replica of a LotR Elven sword... Yeah...

Looks fine by me. Everyone is used to my weirdness, -
Noticing some stain or other had obscured her name, Tesni wrote her name on the Quest 85 list again.

Girls in action themes?
Peppermint_M replied to Dorayaki's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I too am confused a little ( ) All of the action themes bar Power Miners did have girls. Helena in PQ was a strong and independent character, not someone who was used for bait as a damsel in distress. Agent Trace was depicted rescuing a male agent in Agents and Dyna-Mite and Clawdette were antagonists with style and a role beyond femme fatale with thier own unique armaments (literal in Clawdette's case, a-heh).Eris in Chima is a little better defined than "the chick" (the puns, they burn!) and while Nya is a little shafted in the series Samurai X has a pretty nice Mecha in theme sets (more than poor Hitomi had). As boys who these themes are aimed at are at the "ew cooties" stage when it comes to girls the female characters are not as marketed as the male. It is just the way things go. No matter how they are marketed, llittle boys at some stage in their life decide a role in their head that girls should have despite any role-model you care to name, (even my younger brothers had a stage where they were mightliy confused by my tom-boyish attitudes, hobbies, clothes and lifestyle despite me being comfortably within that archetype since before they were born). It just seems to be life whena child's thought process is less complicated. If you could clarify, we could address the issue better? -
New Action Themes for 2014?
Peppermint_M replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The movie is more than likely to take up the action quota for next year, but the cycle turns around and once again and some new iteration will arrive in time. -
Hair and trans-clear weapons! I am off for most of the day and miss this!!! Yowser, these are cool.
