  1. Yeah I know, but maybe LDD team somehow thought that "OK, you can go any angle with the click-hinges, but using the hingealging tool, it should'n be possible". Well, it's a silly longshot I know. Let's forget about it
  2. OK, Now I got you. It might be that the click-hinges (I use that name too, as opposed to clip-hinges), will not accept hinge alignment because they are (with physical bricks) restricted to movement intervals of 22.5 degrees. In other words, for these hinges, the hinge align needs to take into account that it can only set in 22.5 degree intervals. And that in total might be to complicated for the hinge align algorithm. But it's a long shoot I know. A more likely explanation is probably that the LDD developers they didn't think about this case I'll report this one to the TLG, and we'll see what happens. PS: On a side note, the hinge align tool in this particular case is not the best to use since the circle becomes all crooked. Since LDD doesn't (yet) have a way to input exact angles, it's really difficult to create the exact angles needed to make a perfect circle. Some LDD users (like Bojan) are expert at creating the angles needed programmatically, but that's a whole other ballgame. I think you did a super job with the death star considering the tools at hand.
  3. I'll join in with the others and say: Welcome to Eurobricks. And I love those MOCs. Absolute top-class.
  4. Ditto on both accounts
  5. Hi Welcome to Eurobricks!
  6. Welcome to Eurobricks. Seems we're the same age Do you have a flickr account or similar where I can check out those MOCs a little better?
  7. Hi Welcome to Eurobricks. Hopefully we'll meet over at the LDD forum
  8. Holy...macaroni piece. You're really going for the big and difficiult Let's see if one of the LDD gurus here at the forum want to tackel this beast. I'm curious about the problems you had with hinge align tool. Can you explain some more about what doesn't work. You say it works with normal clip hinges, but not the clickety-click ones? Which exact bricks are you talking about, and in which situation. If you can take a screenshot, it'd be much appreciated
  9. Hi there pbk420 Welcome to the LDD forums. Your question has been discussed earlier, but a short recap goes something like this: 1) The categories in LDD are actually the internal TLG categories, it's just that in LDD several of them have been bunched together (to get a "better" overview). Unfortunately this makes it a bit difficult to see the logic in the categories, but you learn it after a while. 2) Within each category, bricks are sorted according to their bounding box volume, so smaller pieces go first, and then larger. The reasons for this is actually to keep it simple for LDD developers, as they can easily just toss new bricks in and they will "sort themselves". 3) Searching for bricks in LDD isn't possible yet, but rumours has it that it will be a feature in LDD4 due for release in September. For the time being you can either a) manually look through all the categories or b) use LDD Manager to search for the bricks. Hope that helps a bit PS: I took the liberty of adding a few clarifying words to the topic title for future reference
  10. I've PM:ed SpiderSpaceman asking for some screenshots, so we can see if this is for real.
  11. Aha, now I see too. And those are my favorite pieces from the Collectors series
  12. First: Great review! About the brick, it's fairly new. Has been used in a couple of sets - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=85943
  13. I have no idea what fervently means, but I like it I took the old Camel out of the cupboard and had a look. I see now what you mean about the technic connector not fitting. My humble conclusion is that we here have ourselves a case of poor design by TLG. With physcial bricks it's possible to flex the wing tips so that the paralleogram aligns. But LDD, sticking to the rules, is telling us that this is poor design that will put stressing forces on the bricks. Yellost fault - no LDD's fault - no TLG Desingers fault - yes
  14. Exactly, but also enable some other nice layout tricks
  15. You certainly may For recents sets (about 2002 and forward): http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/BuildingInstructions/default.aspx NOTE: Sometimes instructions show up in two versions - IN or NA. This stands for International and North America. However, there is no difference in the instruction steps - it's just the last pages with customer info that differs. 16. I know you can put images next to each other (on a row), but I'm wondering if its possible to place multiple lines of text next to an image in a post? In HTML you would probably insert a table and put the image in one cell and the rows of text in the other. But can something similar be done in a post on this board?

  18. EB Member SpiderSpaceman report that his LDD updated to the new brick version 114.5 today (previous version was 114.3). Apperantly the graphic errors (Minifig head, Pizza etc) have been fixed, but there may be more. It seems however that at the moment only US LDD installations has updated. Maybe the update goes into effect at different times across the world to spread the load on the update server?
  19. More excellent work. Impressive. One issue, although minor, that you might want to fix is the blue color of the Maersk ship. You've used "Medium Blue" but the Maersk Blue in Lego's lingo is called "Pastel Blue". However that color is not available from the color palette in LDD. Instread you have to use the technique described here to get it.
  20. G'day BrickWild That's a mighty impressive collection of official sets you posted Couldn't help but to notice your other models on your site: http://lddmodels.jimdo.com/ and your brickshelf account: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=434998 Amazing stuff - I don't think we've seen the 10155 Maersk Ship or some of the fire trucks on this topic. Can you please post them here so that they can get indexed? That'd be great.
  21. Luckily I had the beetle on the shelf, so after examiniation I found that the 1x3 brick won't fit because you forgot to put a plate under the dark grey/red hinge pieces. So basically the two hinge pieces should come up one plate height. Then you will be able to fit the 1x3 brick. Also, after this is done, you can rotate the angled plate a little bit more so that it will rest on the two 1x2 sloped bricks. You're right, my mistake. I'll report this to the LDD team. A tiny, tiny note too - the rearview mirror in the cab needs to come up a bit. (but now I'm nitpicking ) In any case - really nice work on the beetle. And thanks a million for being so careful that you take notes when you build the model and report what doesn't work.
  22. Yeah, I know about that one, but I think it was actually a re-issue of 398 released in the late 70ies, so it doesn't count
  23. Great pics. Thanks for sharing.
  24. The piece I'm hoping that TLG will produce in larger quantities is the versatile black 3L bar in the Weightlifter Minifig. It's the same as in the ray gun and magician, but there they were transparent and multicolored respectively. If the 3L bar is not being produced in larger quantities, it is IMHO one of the parts that may be very pricey on BL i the future.
  25. Excellent work, excellent work! Building official sets in LDD is turning out to be one of the best ways to find inaccuracys in LDD. And I report every last one of them to TLG. Some comments/questions: •Inside the hood, I replaced two black 1 x 3 bricks with a 1 x 2 brick, a 1 x 1 plate, and one cheese slope because an angled plate inside the hood would not fit with the 1 x 3 bricks in place. Sorry, I don't follow you on this one - can you please take some screenshots, or otherwise clarify. •I had to remove one yellow Technic half bush from each car axle because they wouldn't fit in due to tiny inaccuracies in the LDD brick dimensions. I can see the missing yellow half bush, but I don't understand why it won't fit since this piece could be moved out of the way a tiny amount •For the two mechanisms in which each of the large, trans-clear front headlights are attached, I had to use three 1 x 1 round plates instead of a 1 x 1 round brick because the 1 x 1 round brick wouldn't fit inside a 1 x 1 Technic brick's hole (is that already a known error, Superkalle?). Yes, that's a known error. PS: The "tan-ish" color you've used for seats etc, is not tan, but the similar "Cool Yellow". See Prateeks post a few rows up about where the color tan is on the color palette. PS2: I also notice that in 14 places, you've used this 1x2 brick (without center pin, only for transparent color) instead of this normal 1x2 brick. You can use the shape selection tool to find them in the model. The reason why it's important that all bricks are right, is that if anyone want to order the parts for the model, it won't work becuase BrickLink and or DbM will not accept those brick in those colors. So rule of thumb: 1x2 brick without center pin - for transparent colors ony 1x2 brick with center pin - for opaque colors. (PS: I use LDD Manager to find these types of errors).
