  1. EDIT: JopieK, weren't those in the old version as well? From what I managed to figure out, these are the updates: 6-7 decoration errors fixed Helmet 3844 fixed Not so much, in other words.
  2. While surfing, I bumped into a report about "Systematic creativity in the digital age" from Lego Learning Institute (I have no idea what that is). Strangely, they don't even mention LDD, even though as there is a chapter called "Connecting the Virtual and Physical Realms", in which I think LDD is one of the best examples there is. Download here (pdf)
  3. Welcome to Eurobricks. You're among peers here Looking forwards to pics of that town layout!
  4. I don't have the parts so I can't test, but does the "old" blinds fit into the new windows and vice versa? I.e. is there are bug in LDD that allows you to make a connection that should not be possible?
  5. Hm, intresting one. I think it's a matter of matching elements. 60607 (released 2009) is supposed to go with 60594 2529 (last used 2004) is supposed to go with 3583 (looked them up in BrickLink) So basically, your trying to fit old blinds into a new window frame But, I might be mistaken, so let's see if someone else has a better explanation. In any case, it's strange that LDD allows you to belive it should be possible.
  6. Interesting idea. At least you can create a group in LDD so keep track of what you pasted, but I agree it's not nearly as smart as in LDraw.
  7. You're more then welcome to ask this sort of technical question over at the LDD forum here at Eurobricks, where there is a whole bunch of other LDD nerds ready to help out http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=128 However, I propose you keep the main discussion (about the ship building process etc) here at the Pirates forum, where you can get better support about ship layout etc. Also, if you ever plan to build this ship, you might want to use LDD Manager, in where you can analyze if bricks have been produced in the colors you have used, order bricks from BrickLink etc. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41993
  8. I agree completely, but then I guess all of us LDD nerds are a bit subjective
  9. Excellent ideas everyone. I'm in discussion with the other EB staff about this problem (hosting/preserving files), but I've been swamped by summer and the LDD Contest. I'll get back to it soon. In the meantime, if anyone reads this and would like to become a LDD Indexer like our esteemed Calabar, please PM me. It's like Calabar says, we need an index of all high quality LDD MOCs and mods/variants of official sets, as well as custom parts (even though that is likelky to me a smaller index). Then, hopefully in the future, it can be possible for users to upload LXF-files directly to a file-server/database for for safe storage for future use. We're on the beginning of something major here guys - can you feel it
  10. And here in plain numbers so you don't have de-hex it http://www.peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/colorguide.cgi PS: Can you please get back here on the forum with how well the colors matched once your stickers are made! Thank!
  11. Exactly, agree completely - any substitution should pass at least five criteria 1) same color on all subtitutable plates/bricks 2) same basic shape (i.e. three 1x1 plates could be substituted by one 1x1 brick). 3) not be part of two separatable groups (i.e. two 1x2 bricks cannot be substituted by one 1x4 if the 1x2 brick are not part of the same rigid system, for example separated by a hinge). 4) Optional - all bricks being substituted to must exist in the same color as the ones being substituted from. 5) Optional - sometimes TLG designers intentionally use two 1x2 bricks instead of one 1x4 since it may reduce the number of type bricks used. If this is important, then this needs to be taken into concideration And to this, we have to add your point, private_lego, about having same underside/top-side characteristics! Good point (but then you are also the Advanced Techniques Master )
  12. Hm, not sure I follow you here. Can you give me some screenshots from LDD or similar. Regarding Legal building, yes that document you refer to is great (available from the LDD Index Topic) - my bible for many years. It's written by Jamie Berard whom I had the great pleasure of meeting a few months ago. He told me he was working on an updated version that hopefully be released shortly. It's going to be intresting to see what new updates have been made by DesignLab at TLG. Personally I'm a purist, and really like that LDD is so strict. It really forces you to come up with creative solutions. And it frces you to design on the same premises at TLG designers have to. EDIT: Regarding my first statement that placing a lightsaber hilt in a technic hole is illegal may be incorrect actually, since it's connected with only one stud and is easy to pull out. I'll have to investigate this
  13. Good job with the workaround roamingstudio. And you're right about the light saber. Once again the original designer used an illegal technique, so LDD protests. But moving the light saber out a tiny amount might make it work. But the on the other hand it might bump into the round 1x1 plate hand. EDIT: Tried it now, and I can't get the saber hilt in place. Brick boundary problem.
  14. Lovely, wonderful, clean, sleek, sharp, superb (Yes, something I never usually do, two Emoticons in a row)
  15. Excellent work RoamingStudio. Also detailed info about what wouldn't work - love that! Regarding color tan, it has to be that - those parts doesn't exist in flesh. The Yoda ears is a problem, I agree - can anyone help find a work-around? And yes, the "problem" with the cube dues is that if you don't view them from directly face-on, they look a bit weird. But it is a lovely concept I must say. Nice to see that someone can create something completely new from Lego bricks.
  16. Hi Ras. Good to hear from you Hope all is fine in on your trip to Australia. To everyone - Ras has been co-setting up the contest with me has been a super friend to cross-check ideas with. Thanks buddy! Thanks DLuders! I forgot this. I'm adding it to the first post now
  17. Hi Mr. Justice There has been some other problems with this bricks too, and from what I heard it has been fixed in 4.0. Let's hope it's the case. Good spotting anyway Yes, you're right. Another great find from the SpiderSpaceman! PS: Try to connect one of these to the grips/bars and see what happens

  22. Firstly, mind your language there young man (even though I found the right-royally part amusing) I think it's important to understand that LDD LU mode is not an official release, it's just TGL allowing AFOLs to have a peek into and use whatever pieces are in their brick database. The database so far only contains bricks are wanted by either DbM or the Lego Universe game development team. At the moment, they are paying for the LDD bricks, because producing low poly-count bricks for game/LDD purpose does come with a nice price tag (naturally TLG has true vector CAD-drawings of all parts, but that's not the same as the low polygon count models needed for LDD, which on top has to have the connectivity/snap-to functionality added). And don't forget LDD is free to download after all Answering your question, no the 3736 part does not yet exist in LU-mode, but let's hope it will be there eventually, because I miss it too. A lot. And the road baseplates do have prints. Have a look at the decoration tool. (However, there is a not so humourus bug with those decorations unfortunately, that you'll discover). The 48x48 baseplate is not there however as far as I know.
  23. But what if the transposed part will not fit on the other side, sticking out in some way. Maybe nitpicking, but it's all these cases that has to be concidered before implmenting the feature. Yes, but what if you update the one side, and then want to update the other. How shall you delete/replace? Interesting idea for sure. And it could probably be integrated with the group feature of today. Oh yes, this is high on the wishlist for many. I've stopped using Hide because of this, since it get's me every time
  24. I would suggest we stick with BrickLink as the major provider of reference Partnumbers and Set-numbers. This because BrickLink is used my so overwhelmingly many people and therefore has becomee the LEGO database de-facto standard. I know there is Peeron, and in most cases Peeron and Bricklink match, but not always, so it's better to stick with one of them.
