Great point. I'll change the front page. Thanks! EDIT - on second tought. Fire was a discovery. But was the wheel not an invention?

As you may know, the DbM team at TLG ran a first LDD design contest that ended early september. Now, they are announcing a second contest that will start on September 27th with a "Halloween" theme. Read all about it here and start preparing your entries.

MLCad tutorial
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
There is actually a topic here on the forum about Sergios program allready, but thanks for posting. -
A new MOC by talented EB member Etzel entitled "The caveman". Check out all the details and discuss here. Notice for example how he has managed to capture all three of mans most important inventions - fire, the wheel and the lego brick.

Hm, not much to comment if you can't try it. The title of the topic is "New Lego site created", so you expect to see a new site, right But the general idea seems interesting. A question though - where do you get the data to populate the database. If you're taking it from BL/Peeron, you may want to contact them and ask permission.

Lego Fall Catalog showing up in Germany

I'm not sure I understand how LDD can fry a graphics card, even if it's a huge model. Was the GPU cooling adequate? But I agree LDD is not great on huge models. There are just to many polygons that need to be rotated and re-drawn, and I guess it's a matter of optimizing those, while still having a full editable model. I know that LDD does have some optimization. For example, surfaces that are not seen are removed (for example when putting two bricks together the inside parts that are not visible anymore are not drawn). But I'm no expert in this field, so maybe someone else has better insights. Also, it'd be kind of interersting if LDD would be much faster with a professional graphics card that has hardware OpenGL support.

I just noticed Brothers Brick had blogged a nice tutorial to MLCad by Willy Shlager here If you ever wanted to learn MLCad/Ldraw, this seems like a great chance.

I don't understand why you don't clean up those parts. With the extreme closeups the foods looke quite unapetizing. Also takes away focus from the rest of the MOC. Sorry, just how I feel.

LDD on PC or Mac?
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's kind of interesting to see that there are so many MAC users (14 vs 17 PC users). Either it's because MAC user tend to have a stronger love for their brand, and hence vote more in these sort of polls, or it's because there really IS that many MAC users. Or could it be that MAC traditionally has been strong among designers, and hence it's more easy for MAC users to see the possibilities with LDD as a design tool? I'm a PC-man myself, but my wife is MAC, but we have harmony in our house anyway -
Lego City in LDD
Superkalle replied to LegoBuilder's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The baseplate problem was reported to TLG some time ago, and I've been told that it's fixed in the next release. Nice. Very nice, very, very nice! What's the performance like when you open/rotate the model? I like how you used tiles to create the roads. So simple, yet I haven't seen that before. -
Thanks for pointing these errors out. The first one was allready reported to TLG some time ago. The second one was new.

Hi there LDDtechnican. Nice username - but much to live up to About your question the answer is no. There is no physics engine in LDD at the moment. Possibly in future releases. What LDD can however to is check so that everything is lined up. Also it's important to know that even if LDD LU Mode has a lot of technic parts, there are still a few missing. We're hoping for more in LDD 4.0 due for release soon.

I can only concure with everyone else - Fantastic MOC! But what's most impressive is the story of how it came to be, where you explain the design and building process. Thank you for shaing this with us.

hi everyone. coming back to the hobby.
Superkalle replied to clear's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Great. Then let's start over: Hi clear A warm welcome to the LDD forum here at Eurobricks. Like Calabar mentioned above, LDD is a fantastic software. Play around with it, and make sure you activate LU Mode to get access to all those bricks. And don't hesitate to ask any questions here.
