Those vines look great, and the hut is a nice build. Somehow I feel the tree belongs somewhere colder, because of it's Christmas tree shape.

I like this. The blank walls with full width skylights above are very intriguing. Nice textures.

Brilliant. I love Lego 2000AD builds. What head did you use? I really like the way you made rogue's legs, it gives a great sense of motion. You have captured the futility of fighting for Nu Earth very well with the desolate landscape and high tech amongst the mud. Nice work with the sloping plates too.

Get well soon j2g! I preferred the preliminary frozen set, the changes to the balcony and losing the white leaf are both downgrades, and the stickers are not as attractive on the pillars. I like that Olaf. The Aladdin set could have been better but I still like it for the new prints or stickers. I'm not too interested in the other sets.

Anyone else seeing this when you look at the motorcycle?

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow, Ecc, just..wow! Behemoth, great to see you back under a different but still very large name Actually my new WIP is inspired by you. I wanted to flag this set for 2015. I have 5 of the tigers already, but I am loving the carpet prints and the walls. Need at least 2. Jasmine would be great in Kali, I expect a flame war over minidoll use though....and another flame war when she ends up in the Duke's harem Oh and please would you all consider voting for my dragon in the Exo suit challenge? It's number 6 in category A -
Sorry to bump, but if you liked this would you please consider voting for it in the Exo suit voting thread? It is Number 6 in category A Thanks LordDan, I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. I might pick up more of these type of parts! Thanks a lot cesbrick, I really appreciate it. I was happy with the use of dragon heads for shoulder blades

Ha ha thanks Gideon. Monumental for me is pretty small by your standards . I ran out of bricks half way up the first building already. BrickCurve, I really like your building. It's quirky and differentiated. I agree with everything NM said, except about the sloping wall and windows, which I really like. You might want to put some sloped bricks right behind them to rest on. -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I'm going the other way with my current WIP. Monumental scale and not so detailed for the architecture. -
Space station 76. I didn't really enjoy it at the time as it is a study in awkwardness and alienation. A lot of scenes that seemed tedious when watching it, in retrospect were completely brilliant. I wonder why Liv Tyler and Matt Bomer signed up for it. Patrick Wilson and Marisa Coughlan were excellent, the staging was superb, the script was so-so for 90% of it and great for 5%. On balance I liked it although it was dull to watch. 6.5/10

BrickCurve, the last pictures are the best roof option so far. It would be even better with an overhang for the eaves. I still think you could have a good look with a castellated mixed stone roof on the tower. -
That is really interesting. I learned 2 new words! How is the ore mined from the sea bed? I do like these floating false ceilings for the sea surface. Very nice execution of a good idea.

Welcome back! Highlights would be: Mitgardian war prelude, Gideon's mega build of Barqa, Behemoth actually built something ;) -
Lovely walls! I really like this fashion for side studs in Kali recently. I've had one in mind for ages, must build it! UoP +1. I like the story too

The crew of the Wildcat considered the alien space junk that was crawling across the desert. It seemed to be some sort of wheeled camera robot. They decided not to blow it up. Then they decided to show it some animals, old carvings and water. Just enough so that wherever it came from, people would know there is Life on Mars. Entry for the tilesorstuds space faction contest

Great idea, amazing technique, fantastic presentation! The smoke machine shot is superb! It really feels like the introduction to The Rescuers!

Fantastic build Gideon! I love everything about it! My favourite detail is the cartographer's awning. The minifigs are all really appropriate to the scene. I'm envious of your tan Gothic arches and bishop's mitre, they look great. UoP+1 all claims.

A crenellated square roof? The gold dome looks too heavy and ornate for this build I think. Behemoth, Greco Roman is good anywhere. How about in our beautiful and very underbuilt capital? Carson, any of the free cities of Kaliphlin would be honoured by your abbey. They are Petraea, Qarkyr and Barqa. It is best to get Gideon's permission for Barqa as he is the custodial lord (I think he is traveling at the moment) -
Just seen Transformers: Age of extinction. The parallels between the Bayformers and the Marvel movies are really striking. Dark of the Moon was the same as The Avengers and this one is the same as CA:TWS. The US M-I complex is targeting its own allies and citizens in both films. Given the global reach of these franchises, it's interesting what messages Hollywood is putting out in its blockbusters. Are we being warned, or just softened up? Apart from that, it's one of the least worst of the Bayformers films and the climax battle is supposedly in HK (whoo! not that those areas actually exist...) so that makes it a 6.5/10

That is rather depressing. I hope the kids are smart enough to use youtube instead of the curriculum Great tutorial. I have never thought of doing it this way (and I don't have the right pieces really) but your examples are superb.
-
I wouldn't do it myself, because I agree with Fred that the limitations spur creativity. I don't have any objection to others modding pieces or using clone parts or custom parts, as long as it is disclosed.

Nice build, and really good presentation and photography. I like your fig uniform selections. -
Thanks LV! It was fun to build in Nocturnus style again. Thanks MontyPython. I always want to use my limited array of bionicle pieces but they never work out. Until this time! Actually the proudest part usage has to be my Dino 2010 pterodactyl wings, I never thought they would be good for anything! Thanks Gunman. I thought the Hobbit fans deserved better than what we got this time. This would probably work out about the same price as the official Smaug but it's twice as big. Thanks Scaevola, I'm glad you like it. Thanks Carson. I am a huge fan of Mike Nieves and I was kind of baby-step experimenting with how he gets some of his shapes. Thanks SarahJoy, The Duke has a long association with secret missions in Nocturnus and gets up to some real crazy stuff when he's there Thanks ME, honestly all my pieces were packed away until a few weeks ago so I missed the deadline. Ironically, the endoskeleton of this is an exo suit! The technic/bionicle connections are incredibly forgiving, you just need one hole or pin and then you can attach almost anything to it. This is the underside, and the spine/neck snaps on the other side of the suit.
