  1. I never ever propose buying a set 'because it's cool' but secretly just get it for the pieces and never build it.
  2. Thanks! It was a ton of fun to build and drive.
  3. Ah, that would explain the relatively low RPM for that design. Thanks!
  4. For my 8x8 LPE Trial Truck, I'm using a 5 gallon portable air tank that I got for $20 charged to 65 psi. I can get a good run time off of it. I connect the tank tho the car via some long clear hose.
  5. Problem with that, when you go from kinetic motion to air pressure back to kinetic motion you lose power. It would be slower than just an RC motor
  6. Mine's not quite that fast, but still torquey enough for my purposes.
  7. A little work in progress I started recently. I decided to marry together two of my favorite projects, the LPE and the Oshkosh HEMTT 8x8 trial truck. I'm going to power it by a portable air tank and long air hose. I could use regulated C02 and have a onboard tank (a 20 oz paintball tank), but my tank is running low. HEMTT: LPE: And some progress:
  8. Thanks! Yeah, some sort of RTC steering would be ideal for the independent axles. Thanks! I love filming at a local stream/streambed because in the winter it is frozen over and in the summer it is shallow enough for crossings. The car-cam camera is a GoPro Hero3 Black edition, which has excellent video quality. I've used the gopro for pretty much every single camera shot for every movie since I've gotten it.
  9. Thanks guys! Once the snow melts off, i'll be able to (hopefully) see how capable it is on trail type terrain.
  10. Hello everyone! My latest trial truck, an 8x8 Oshkosh HEMTT. Powered by two XL motors, independent steering by two m motors. Live axle suspension on each axle, portal hubs, etc. And, of course, a movie.
  11. Yeah for Unimogs! :) I've done some outdoors testing, and the suspension it a tad bit stiff, but with a cap, fenders, and rear cover, I think it will end up about perfect. And a video of some outdoors snow testing: [embed] [/embed]
  12. Bodywork ideas: possibly some form of 8x8 unimog??? (Those exist, right? I was on mercedes' website last year and saw 8x8 utility trucks...)
  13. Thanks. I intentionally had the front steering be independent so that i would have a greater control of movement. Also, If they were on the same channel they would get out of sync with each other very quickly since there is no physical linkage. In the video, it seemed to be a disadvantage, but that was likely because I was trying to steer, drive, and film at the same time :)
  14. Hi guys. I'm back with my latest ongoing build, an 8x8. Each axle has it's own ball-joint suspension, so the ground clearance and articulation are both very good. Independent steering on the two front axles using two M motors. Two XL motors for drive with a final ratio of 3:25. Overall a very sturdy and well-performing truck.
  15. Excellent job! I love the look and functionality. Reminds me of Sheepo's work in terms of quality and amount of functions
  16. It doesn't look like it because it's not really supposed to look like it :) I just used those for general profile ideas, then just made a generic SUV
  17. Thank you! I guess I am lucky to have good driving environments nearby. Regarding the music, sorry if you didn't like it, I put it overtop of the video because it was a public domain song, e.g. I could still monetize the video with this song since it has no copyright.
