  1. I don't think an actual disc braking system is something that we'll ever see come from TLC.
  2. You're right, he could have posted about them there, but If he did, I would have never known about them because I rarely if ever view it. There are already plenty threads here involving non Lego 3rd Party parts that are left alone, so I don't see this one thread about these slick machines hurting anything. I am actually curious if anyone can produce a Technic model in the same fashion as these wooden models are designed.
  3. What pics did you see that had you thinking that it was 1/4 of the size? You got the set for free from Lego, correct?
  4. I would buy that train in a second. That is sooooooo cool. Paul, that car in your Facebook link is also pretty darn impressive too. Do you have a thread here about it?
  5. I was so excited to build this set, but now seeing these shortcomings in areas of the design is somewhat disappointing and I am feeling my desire diminish.
  6. I really hate to say it, but the more we are seeing of this set leading up to the release, the less "Ultimate" it is looking. The offset n the wheels most definitely looks deeper.
  7. Seeing that video, I guess that the body isn't it's own separate module like we thought. Or is it?
  8. What a cute little model and well designed.
  9. Question, have you actually built this gearbox to make sure that it will work without issues? That is a lot of gears.
  10. I really like what you are doing here. Those curved panels look great from certain angles, but a little off with the entire panel flow from other perspectives.
  11. Do you think that it could have been done using existing parts or would new parts have been needed?
  12. Yeah, no kidding. It's not even close to being a neutral color.
  13. Yes. Just a little wider. I never thought that I would see Lego use a series of bevel gears to route the steering wheel to the front steering in one of there cars. Then again, they rarely ever use a functional steering wheel.
  14. Maybe they'll have another contest? I doubt it though.
  15. Was it mentioned that all of the Ultimate sets would be cars?
  16. I think The transmission in the Lego model isn't really a dual clutch gearbox. It's just 2 driving rings and 4 clutch gears. Then again, I guess the odd gears are on one driving ring while the even ones are on the other though.
  17. It doesn't look like those parts under the yellow parts are very accessible. I wonder how easy it will be to change the gears with the body on?
  18. You are comparing an AFOL model that has many parts that are no longer in production and dealers are selling them at crazy prices. I bet those 4 wheels and tires will sell for over $100. I doubt we'll be able to purchase them from Lego. The Modular Body makes a ton of sense so that people can see what is really happening. This is a bonus for sure.
  19. You know what I think many of us were expecting to push this set to the "Ultimate" level? More new parts. Like new gears that many people have been begging for.
  20. I think the price should have been around $250, but I'll gladly pay $300 for it. Luckily I have a ton of VIP points built up. You would think on a website like Gizmodo that the people that follow it would appreciate Technic. Definitely doesn't seem to be very popular there. You really think this is more advanced than a set like the 42043? I've built that set and it is packed with functions that amaze me more than anything this Porsche has shown.
  21. The model is special no doubt, but Ultimate means "The Best" Is it the best Technic model? It is certainly not the most complex.
  22. I agree. I think they are pushing the line "ultimate" tag line to help justify the hefty price. While It's a day one purchase for me, I am seeing many people on various forums and websites complaining about the price.
