  1. Has come to the conclusion he really needs to find a way to get boxes of PAB to NZ..

  2. So K-mart Riccarton is selling S5? Intresting
  3. Please add a +1 for lcs, Absolutely fantastic trader - I think it's got to be record fast postage from the States to NZ! Would happily trade again
  4. Thats quite a cool question actually I usually do my best building when I first get up and ready for the day (In the weekends), Which would be around 8-11AM, but also during weekdays when I get home, I'll often have some inspiration from throughout the day that'll give me ideas for a couple of hours - that would be about 4-5PM.. I usually struggle to keep on a roll after that time - and usually I'd be braindead anyway - so thats when I usually build any new sets However, Even in a good week, I probably wouldn't get more than 10 hours of MOCing done, but it can vary, a lot Very intresting to see what others are saying too.
  5. I've had quite a few bad experiences actully.. Back when eBay was a trusted site (A couple years ago now ), I bought 2 10174 UCS AT-ST's, deboxed, from the states.. Never arrived. The guy turned out to be a fraud (which was strange considering he wasn't selling bigger sets, or selling them MISB).. Luckily Paypal refunded me completely, after a month or so of going back and forth. Another time, also on eBay, (must have been when Fraudsters were coming into fashion), I bought a MISB 10179 UCS Falcon, also from guy in the states. The price was good, Not 'too good to be true' good, But fair, just under US RRP. The guy was a total fraud, just took the money and ran. I was absolutely gutted. Paypal managed to refund me $200US, But I still lost a few hundred dollars. I now mostly only use Bricklink, and when I do use eBay, I'll usually refuse to buy anything over $100 claiming to be 'MISB'. Just isn't worth it. That said, I've still had packages lost even from people I trust.. A guy on here (I won't mention his name, for privacy reasons) offered to forward on 3 Sandcrawlers for me, once agian from America (You americans.. ). Sent them a few years ago, and they just never arrived. I stayed in contact with the guy for a while, he even went and bought me 3 more from his own pocket. Instead of me paying postage, we agreed he would keep one as a cover of postage costs, and send me the other two. But to this day, There's still various reasons as to why they're apparently still in his closet. I do want to trust the guy, but it hasn't exactly shaped up all that well, considering I've wasted hours trying to sort it out and still haven't had anything arrive. I've decided this one was a 'bad luck' write-off - Though some days I do remember, and wish he'd send them, But I've got to try forget I guess you've got to have a few bad experinces along with the good ones, But none the less, It definately does suck
  6. Thanks very much Yeah, They're a lot of fun to build aren't they I've mostly only MOCed Buildings, as I haven't been piticularly intrested in ships or such.. may give them a go later as I get more into MOCing To be honest, this was really only my secound 'proper' MOC, and am still learning about how to start and such. I just started with a bunch of bricks and a couple of pictures, then carried on doing that, going to bricklink for specific parts, back to pictures and bricks.. Pritty much just played it by sight. In Heinsight, I would have done it differently, in a few ways (Which I plan to do for my next MOC). I would have looked for specific parts that would be difficult to design from Lego and build them first to find out a good scale, and I then would find accurate dimentions for a base and then go from there to other pictures and buying parts That was/is one of the problems with this model - I really didn't check some parts well enough as I was building, then had severe things wrong in the final product as they were just 'built into it' - Which I really regret. The majority of them are quite small and you'd have to really study the MOC to find them, but still. I guess tose are the reasons practice makes perfect, as you can see what you'd like to change for future MOCs Yeah, Sorry about the bad pictures.. The Pictures in the Flickr account are a bit better, But it was just so hard to get good pictures with a decent white backround, I just had to settle for brown in this case. Sorry about that. But yes, DBG and tan are the two base colours Thanks for the support. I'm actually considering building another large Christchurch building that I've just found out is going to be taken down due to earthquake damage, But it's quite an expensive thing to do.. I'd need to scale it down a lot more than the Cathedral for it to be 'do-able' - and it would still probably be bigger than the Cathedral. But considering this one cost me around $700 in parts (plus what I had), It may be a while.. I need sponsorship Cheers mate. As you said that, I looked it up on facebook, and found nearly 90 people have shared this topic on Facebook! Wow! Thanks for the support everyone! How was your house? I hope you weren't too badly affected! We only have a few cracks really, compared to most places
  7. Yeah.. I was refeering to placing orders rather than receiving them. I got another of my orders yesterday. It's placing more orders I'm having trouble with.. Oh well. Good while it lasted I spose
  8. Cheers! The roof is just tiles, but it definately gives the nice effect I was looking for! For bigger pics feel free to look in the brickshelf folder, which is now public, or check out all the new pictures I've just put up on Flickr! Thanks Man, truely means a lot Thanks - that window took far too long, and it's still not perfect Thanks for that Yech, That thread really helped inspire a few things in the window Thanks! Cheers CF Thanks Rufus. Old grey may have been better, but it's far harder to come by, and would have made this MOC even more of a mission! Thanks CDM! Means a lot. If you check out the Flickr folder I've just put up, it shows a few of the techniques I used - feel free to see what you think! Now to everyone overall, Thanks for your great comments! I've actually been contacted by a local paper and TV network that are intrested in perhaps doing an interview, which is pritty awesome! Help get LEGO 'out there' I've just put up a new flickr folder with heaps of new pictures, so feel free to go ahead and check it out - write comments and tag and such Christchurch Cathedral on Flickr Thanks again folks!
  9. Anyone had any luck with B&N recently? They don't seem to let any orders through for me for the last ~weekish.
  10. Yeah, The UCS Shuttle seller is in Aussie too.. Having 0 feedback and lots of expensive sets and considering whats been happening on eBay recently, I'm not 100% trusting... Guess we'll see. I'm dying for that set, it's just SO hard to find at a good price.. Lots of demand I spose - I guess thats what happens when they release a UCS that isn't Grey I'll keep my eye on BL I spose. Yeah, I also saw the UCS Jedi Starfighter at my local Toyworld in the weekend. It's a nice set, IMO. Overpriced at $200 though. Got my first of many boxes from Barnes and Noble yesterday - Quite happy. Endor is pritty much exactly the pathetic excuse for new Ewoks I was expecting. The 'tree' parts will get sorted into my parts for MOCing a decent Endor, The speeders will be kept and The figures are quite decent.. Definately not worth $60. I got 2 at for just under $40ea from B&N, and to be honest, they're not worth much more, In my opinion. Though the Ewoks are definately worth getting
  11. I swear if I had access to Grab bags, there would never be any left The one time I had the opportunity, I bought 13, and I regret to this day not buying more. Honestly the best way to buy bulk parts I've ever seen. Good score I myself placed a Barnes and Noble order today.. A shame it was cancelled in minutes
  12. Hey ya'll. I know this isn't to do with sales or anything, so sorry in advance But I've just finished (minus 1 or 2 touchups that may come along) My Cathedral MOC.. Seeing as we're all kiwi's, some of you might like to see it Chrsitchurch Cathedral Please do let me know what you think
  13. Heya guys, I've just finished the model.. May do 1 or 2 touchups, but thats pritty much it. Check out the MOC's thread Here. Cheers for all your help and inspiration!
  14. G'day guys. For those of you who don't know, I'm from Christchurch, New Zealand. Best city in the world, if I may say so One of the somewhat unfortunate things about living in this fantastic city is the fact that, just in case you haven't heard, we've been hit quite badly by a series of earthquakes which have changed our city quite a bit.. It's actually a year ago today since the first earthquake, which makes it quite a cool day to be posting this. On Feburary 22nd (the worst earthquake) our cathedral was quite damaged, which gave the building even more significance So, over the last 6 months-ish I've been building our city's best known cathedral, which I've only just finished (though there may still be a couple of additions and such, as I hear your thoughts and opinions) Here's a Reference: ...and this is what it looks like at the moment So without furter adu, here's some pictures of my latest model Please feel free to check out more pictures (including larger ones) in the brickshelf folder, once public (or if your snecky, you'll be able to find a way to see more before it's public.. Hint: check the URL's of the photos I have put up) Christchurch Cathedral on Flickr, Christchurch Cathedral on Brickshelf Comments and such are welcome, I'd love to hear what you all think. Thanks, Sam - AKA Legoman
  15. Bought The Technic 8043 Excevator, Technic 8053 Crane, Fallingwater, and the Whitehouse from fellow EBer lcs
  16. Heya, I'd be intrested in a all of these sets exept '8858-2 Auto Engines' If you could flick me a PM (an estimate for postage to NZ could be quite useful too) Cheers mate
  17. My goodness, that box is screwed! I've never had anything arrive that bad.. Intrestingly enough, B&N have now made most Lego sets void to the discounts mentioned.. Oh well. Good whike it lasted, and some really good deals My Apple tree house and Republic Frigate finally shipped, which is nice! I was scared they would be cancelled, so it's quite a relief
  18. What website are you attempting to buy it from? I tried to Place my order again just in case it's random orders. Exact same order, Cancelled in minutes. Definately think it may have something to do with the sets/coupons involved.
  19. It's great to finally have a muliti-national thread for this topic! (Cheers Seigfried ) I've placed 3 orders with B&N over the last week, and they're sure confusing as to how they go about posting over-seas. My First order had half of it cancelled due to no stock (Both The krusty crab and Kings castle - Now sold out), and the rest is apparently on it's way to me now. Annoying since I'd used the 30% off coupon on the castle, so I'm now paying full price for everything.. Oh well, I guess thats the way things go sometimes My secound order is half shipped, half 'delayed'. But since they still haven't cancelled the 'delayed' half of the order, I think it's still genuine. Just a matter of being a few days later. All good My third order is where I got confused. They just deleted the Order. Their Email said The thing is, They don't actually give a reason. I haven't received this e-mail about a NOOK Book or NOOK App, so I don't quite see how that's relevant.. Intresting. Oh well, I won't give up. I'll see how I go with the other orders first Is anyone else getting much luck with B&N?
  20. Their postage rates are.. intresting. Very good, but strange. The size of the set ordered has absolutely no effect at all. No matter what sets you buy, it's (pritty much) $12USD for the first, plus $6USD each additional. Quite good for bigger sets. They just have a selection of stocked lego on their site. It changes whenever they feel like changing it They've got some of the new sets, but not all of them. It'd be a gamble to just hope they put them online. It's pritty much 'what's listed is what they've got'. But do be careful, They do sometimes have to cancel orders since their stocking system sucks They had to cancell a Krusty Crab and Kings castle from my last order Good luck! There's a lot of room to save by buying through them
  21. Well thats conveinient I'm heading to Sydney this weekend, and might be intrested. I'll flick you a PM
  22. That could be quite a good idea. I know it's definately a big topic for Kiwi's (and probably many others) too. I've placed a few orders with B&N over the last few days and there's no reason that 'topic' doesn't deserve it's own.. topic Would be intresting to keep track of various ways to Importing too.
  23. Where abouts in Aussie are you?
  24. G'day guys. A couple more B&N Codes: E3H4D3X: 15% off (almost) any item (for those of us that already used the 2 30% off codes ) E7E4K8K: 7% off your entire order (excluding some products) - This can be even better than the 30% deal depending on how much you're buying
  25. So it turns out each of those codes can only be used once per customer. Thats a bit sad
