Haha, Well, initially I was really keen for the set, but after seeing it better I think I'll leave it. I seem to find myself venturing away from buying so many system scale playsets and such these days. I still need to catch up on a couple of UCSs' and such for now

Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Legoman replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Can't say I've seen them anywhere yet, But they can't be too far away! Back to LotR, B&N has put 10% off all the sets (Before it had only been on a couple).. -

No Mines of Moria? I'm surprised I've been careful and only picked up 1 Helms Deep and 1 Mines of Moria, Though in due course I'd love to, lets say.. expand.. -

I noticed that.. But I'm staying strong! I could have easily spent another few hundred this morning when they showed up, But I'm working on restraining myself at the moment. That Uruk-hai Army set is mighty tempting to get a few - I doubt I'd get more than 3, but even so.. I could easily pick up a few others too. I swear it's far too easy to spend far too much money on these deals that keep showing up. I need to learn to be more productive with my time than spending so much of it finding so many good deals to spend money on -

Interesting, I'm the same. Though the positive side is that if it gets lost, I trust them not to screw me over. Cheers for the heads up jamonlego & leng jai! I ended up getting Mines of Moria & Helms deep, both for the price Helms deep will retail for when it gets released here in September -
Ohh interesting! Cheers for the heads up. Its also interesting to notice that they're advertising the new Star Wars Gungan Sub - I wonder what other new stock they have in? Might have to have a look

Well, this is a fantastic topic. For the last few months, Lego has somewhat become a drag. An ever-increasing collection in a room full of the stuff is just a mental blockage at times, and I've been increasingly aware of how much brain power it's been taking away from some other things. However one of my worries is that the logistics of selling it would be even greater than not. Just before Christmas, I went on a missions trip to Kolkata. Some pretty big questions got bought up from that, not the least of which was the 'point' of collecting so much Lego I spose. At an estimate, my Lego collection would be worth about NZ$30,000, and that would be a pretty solid start on saving for a house - or a few houses in some third world countries. The problem, as you've stated, is that selling it all would be such a logistical nightmare. To be honest, I'm currently at a stage where I would just love someone to come along and offer me a good price for it. Like you, I'm still a huge Lego fan. I mean, I really do love the stuff and it'll always have a place in my heart, but it is, admittedly, just a bit out of hand. I mean, there are still a few sets that I would like to keep, Like maybe the 10212 Imperial shuttle and 10181 Effiel tower, but I really would love to get rid of most of it. I've also been considering it for at least a year now. Have you got any wisdom on how exactly to go about it?

Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
Legoman replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Couldn't agree more. This set is brilliant and a great price for what you get. I've bought 5 so far and I'll happily buy another 5 if I see them cheap anywhere. 12 figs in a set that size is spectacular IMO -

You most definitely can! And it is ideal for saving room. I currently have entire Rebel Fleet going against a Star destroyer and a couple of TIE's. (I've currently got another 7658 Y-wing to put up, and I plan to buy a few more TIE's soon). Here's a couple of pics of my current setup, if you're interested. The camera flash picks up the fishing line more than you can in person

I hadn't actually looked much at the Architecture competition, but I just looked through the winning entries, and this one just jumped out at me. I've always liked the idea of the Architecture line, but always thought that the sets were too small But this is beautiful! What a brilliant MOC.. Congrats on the prize, very well deserved!

Personally I'm not a fan of the numbered bags.. I just open them all, separate them very roughly into sizes/types and start the building. Or if it's a small set (<500pcs) then I won't even sort at all

Those are some quite good deals at the Warehouse - the Fire temple especially! I don't think I'll be buying anything unless they have some sales - that said, they usually do. I'm keen to get the SSD if it goes to a decent sale price but I think it's probably too soon for that one to happen - we'll see. I'm really keen on the Chrome silver protocol droid though, so if they do free shipping and have that available, I might just buy some random stuff they have on sale to get him Might be worth bringing that up over at KBs - seems a lot of the kiwi chatter has moved over there these days

Indeed, personally I don't see the point in spending ages stacking. I just make sure its pretty much full, then move on to another cup I seriously wish I could have access to that deal though! Thats such a bargian!

I have found LEGO's Games boxes pretty good for storing instructions, But I'm always keen for new ideas.

I've done a bit of work with this and I believe you can probably get it into 25x25cm (32x32Studs). The main thing you have to decide is how much this model is worth to you. When getting that tight, the bricks do warp and the only thing they'll be useful for afterward is filler bricks (Which isn't all bad, but it depends on weather this MOC will be long term for you). 1x2 bricks are pretty cheap in the primary colors, so hopefully money shouldn't be too much of an issue (I assume, Given that you're building such a large MOC). If you need some bricks for this, let me know, I've got ~12,000 primary colour bricks (Red White Blue and Yellow) that I'm not using. As for strength, it depends on both how tight the circumference of the circle is, and how many layers of bricks you're having. Also make sure you keep it out of UV light, as that will weaken the bricks. Hope this helped! Sam

It's definately worth looking at importing if you're looking to buy bulk figs, Amazon had S6 boxes of 60 down to $165ish a week or 2 ago I honestly love that place, getting 3 Ramses Pyrimids for $13.80 each landed has to be one of my best buys this year!

Hey all! I'm absolutely stolked to be announcing that this year, LUG4/2, The Lego User Group of South Island New Zealand, is putting on our first show! The 'Lego Annual Brick Show 2012: Rebuild' will be held at the University of Canterbury on July 14 & 15 in association with TV2 Kidsfest. We're really keen to get more people involved so if you're intrested, let me know! You can check out more information here. We've currently got a number of people looking to come down from all around NZ which is really exciting too - theres going to be some fantastic MOCs! We've currently got sponsorship from the University, and we're looking to get some more sponsorship from other toyshops and such too, so it's all very exciting! Thought I'd put up a thread for those kiwi's that haven't already heard about it. Sam

My goodness! Nice haul with the grab bags, that sounds insane, Good on ya! Some nice parts in those, Let alone the joke of a price. Would love some pictures if you could be bothered If I ever go back to somewhere with a Lego store, I'll be making sure to buy lots of grab bags (When i went to the states I bought 14 - Still no regrets! ) Anyho, Amazon.Fr has put up some Insane deals on 8078 The Portal Of Atlantis, 8077 Atlantis exploration HQ, and Ramses' Pyrimid 3843, I I picked up 3 of each (The max they would let me - I would happily buy a few more 3843 at that price.. and mabye a couple more 8078). Postage to NZ admittedly does dampen the deal, but they still ended up over 65% off I'm not sure quite what I'll do with them, but I think them being so cheap could be the perfect chance to try out a Parts draft/Partsies type thing with my Local Lug

Wow, It's very sad to see you go mate. Admittedly I'm not on this forum as much as I used to be, but I still dare say you'll be missed, greatly. But on the lighter side of things, a huge congrats with getting the Job! I'm sure you'll absolutely love every minute of it. I'm also curious as to wether you're just resigning from staff or pretty much leaving EB altogether, But I spose that will be answered in good time as you get used to your new line of work. Either way, Cheers to you Kim, And all the best with where God takes you!

Hmm, Thats a good price, I wonder what else they have put on clearance recently, I haven't been to K-mart in a while. I got the Surfer girl. Bit dissapointed with the quality, but hey, It was free On another note, I just finished building the Taj.. Man, It's a beast! Quite a nice set actually, Very nice in person.

Ended up buying another 6207 A-wing fighter today - It may be getting older, But I love that set I didn't actually exepct to win the auction, I had my bid fairly low. Definately don't mind having won though!
