  1. Your local K-mart still has POP sets? Those have been clearanced for ages now, they must be dirt cheap? You should check out the prices, surely they'd be worth it for parts! (That may have something to do with why theres not any in CHCH K-marts.. )
  2. Yes! Brilliant! A new Stanard TIE is one one thing I've actually wanted a re-vamp of for a long time, and that is beautiful! The set doesn't disapoint at all - lovely re-design with new printed cocpit, wings use light bley instead blue (finally!) and comes with a lovely selection of great figures Thats the most happy I've been with a new Star Wars set in a long time.. Will probably sell my 7263 (Had actually been looking to buy 2 more 7263's until now, I had nearly given up on new well done OT sets), and buy 3 of these new ones. The extra figs will go well into the death star Ahhh.. Thankyou TLG! New Queen Amidala too? If she is released in a Naboo Cruiser type set, Next year may be one of the best years for SW lego in a long time (to me) Just as I was starting to 'get over' star wars lego, they finally ge their act together. I'm stoked! ..Now they just need a UCS TIE and next year will be absolutely perfect
  3. That is a pain! I do hate customs fees. GST + $37.50 can make a deal a lot less sweet very quick.. Glad it still worked out cheaper for you though mate Would have really sucked if it totaled more than S@H
  4. To me, this is ultimately how I see it. As a collector, I bought this set. Paid a solid $700NZ Cash (which was a very good price over here - Retail was $1000). I'm glad I did, and proud I did. But do I think others deserve the same right? No. I had to pay an absolute killing for my 10018 Darth Maul Bust, because I didn't get it at the time. It's the way the game is played. These sets are all collectors items, and UCS sets are prone to sky-rocketing in price after they're sold out. It's just what happens. The collectors paid the price for it. If you're a collector, you've got to pay what it's worth. I don't see what's in it for anyone to re-release the set just to be put on clearance again. Sure, you may save a few dollars, but it ultimately destroys the value all the proud collectors put on it. Should they have waited and bought the set now, to save the $50 inflation by waiting a few years? I think not! People who bought it did so as collector, because it's a collectors item. If you claim to be a collector, I'm sure you'll find a way to buy it, without ruining the pride of all the other collectors. Sorry to sound like a bit of a snob there - It's just the way I see it. I have the same view of them re-releasing the UCS X-wing 7191.. I hope they don't
  5. Wow, I fully just had a complete mind-blank. Sorry mate. I'd forgotten they're bringing out a new wave of kingdoms sets. Are you after the latest ones or the last wave? The last wave was the lot that has been cleared, although the new sets should be out either now or coming in over the next while. Sorry about that. Although, none the less, Bricklink will be cheaper. This guy came up in my 2 minute search, appearing to have the best prices. Do check it out though - it'll vary depending on exactly what sets your after. Postage would need to be taken into account, But good deals none the less
  6. EDIT: Wow.. mind black below. Had completely forgetten about the newer wave being released Those were put on clearance at most places a few months ago. Toyworld may have them if you're lucky, but I haven't seen them in a while. I'd suggest Checking out brickiink to be honest, Our dollar is very strong (and still getting stronger) to the US at the moment, making importing look quite nice to the ol' bank account
  7. It varies between countries. In places such as the states, there's a lower markup because generally, theres a much larger turnovers in America. Thats due to to plenty of things from population density, to culture (consumerism and so forth - How likely people are to pay full price and such). Over here in New Zealand, The markup on Lego is around 50% as a 'base' if you like (Some of the large retailers who buy in bulk can get volume discounts - I'd be fairly sure this happens for TRU's overseas too ). The larger sets such as exclusives are generally a lower markup (~35%) and the smaller sets are generally about 50%ish. However, In New Zealand, sales are very common, and it's not hard to find 20% off Lego on any given day - That would bring down their markup (Although sometimes sales are being passed down from lego, which is a different case) Thats another reason for the varying prices between countries too Others may be able to add to this/Correct it, But thats what I'm under the impression of.
  8. Over the last few days, I've placed another 3 bricklink orders. One of a couple of rechargable batteries for NXT One of ~750 parts One of baseplates with a couple of parts chucked in Bricklink is a very dangerous place
  9. Man, you're on to a good deal there! I'd happily be paying double or triple that. Same with the 3000 parts. Honestly, you can't go wrong for $15 I'd say go for it You're very lucky to have a shot at prices like that. If you decide you don't want them, Buy them anyway and give me a yell
  10. That sounds a really sweet Idea actually. I'd love that - I agree that visitors are more intrested about that model itself than the EU movie backround of ships (Heck, Even I am ) Even redesigning the original sticker sheets could be really helpful (although may be illegal?). On quite a few of my sets, the sicker plaques have been falling apart (noticably 7191, 7181, 10019 and 10030 - Perhaps modern sticker sheets are a new material?)) - it'd be great to be able to get copies at a cheap price - Bricklink prices are insane for such things. This could actually be a very valuable and useful resource for a lot of collectors -Legoman
  11. Really? Thats pritty good! I might pick up a few battlepacks I think. Plus mabye an Endor, although I still feel even $48 is overpriced to be honest. On another note, I don't suppose anyone here has an NXT rechargable battery or two? I'm desperately after a couple
  12. I was really hoping K-mart would bring in 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle, But I guess not. Thats annoying, I spose I'll have to bring it in myself. There's no way I'll be paying the $550 Toyworld is bound to charge Might pass on this years sales TBH. Oh well
  13. While I was stocktaking the Warehouse Northlands (CHCH) I had a quick check of the Lego section, And they had some new Star Wars. All I could see from my peek was the new Endor set ($60! Thats wayyy too steep for that much lego IMO.. It'll have to go half price for me to buy the 3 I'm wanting to) And the new Geonosian Fighter thing, Which I think was $80, But I'm not certain on that. I'll see if I can have a better look tonight (More stocktakeing - Woohoo.. ) Haven't posted much in the last few days - Just got back from a confrence in Auckland. Wish I'd had time to spare there, but Unfortunately didn't
  14. Please add a +1 to Harmacy for another great trade Cheers
  15. I place a fair few bricklink orders, but have never 'combined' with anyone. I used to be quite a fan of the idea, but it can be quite a hassle, Especially when you both want the same part. When buying parts and such, Postage tends to be based more on weight, so sharing an order doesn't really save much money (Unlike importing sets-that can be well worth it). However, You may find some people keen because they are not able to use paypal etc. Good luck! On another note, I got the Lego mag today. Nothing very intresting, so don't get your hopes up
  16. I'll give you $30 plus postage if you'll ship it to New Zealand (which honestly isn't a big deal at all) Can Paypal the money to you ASAP, just let me know.
  17. She SO didn't build that. And the fact that her dad is an AFOL makes me wonder how much 'help' she really had. Haha, good on her though, It is definately a nice MOC none the less
  18. Have picked up in the last couple of days a Bricklink order of around $100, and the UCS Jedi Starfighter 10215
  19. Crap, that secound one was decent. Hope all you other CHCH guys are alright.

  21. I haven't heard anything to lead on the idea, but anything's possible. There's a possibility I guess.. It might end up going cheap I know Farmers Has 20% off, I just got the E-mail. Thats all I know of though
  22. Did everyone see the Lego Christchurch Cathedral on the news last night? Quite pathetic really, But I guess it's cool seeing Lego on the news Mine is nearly finished, I placed my (hopefully) last brinklink order for roof parts on Saturday
  23. Another bricklink order (hopefully my last) for my latest MOC
  24. I did the exact same thing, only I dragged in my mother
  25. I don't see whats new? Amazon's always sold to NZ, but only specific departments... Of which is Toys is not. I can't see that it's changed, but If it has, awesome! Let me know what you find
