  1. I find this an intresting one. I often buy Lego to re-sell (Thats how I fund my hobby), and the idea of selling figures off has always been on my mind. I've even bought sets purposely to sell the figures. But For some reason, I just can't bring myself to actually do it - to part out a set - I just can't do it. So I end up with heaps of parts and figures (but not much money ) The other reason I don'r really do much with the figures is that it seems to require far more time input than Large sets
  2. Here's my current storage method. I know there are many ways of and opinions on sorting, but this works quite well for me at the moment, with my style of building HolidayProject by LegomanNZ, on Flickr
  3. Indeed, that should be a crime If they still have any, I'll take 'em I've been waiting for a couple of that set at a good price since it came out. Can't say I've had any piticularly good finds recently. Always intresting to see what others come across though
  4. Heh, Did you buy it? If you're seriously wanting to trade it out, Flick me a PM. Anything you're looking for ATM?
  5. Why, yes I did! I had the chance to buy a really beautiful cabinet, but needed a few extra dollars. Oh man, I wish I'd seen that! I would be dead keen for a bley 4483, and it went for a steal! BTW, sorry for not posting here/keeping up to date so much anymore, A lot of conversation have moved over to Kiwibricks now
  6. Love it, Very clever One thing I thought that could be funny for the last picture is someone browsing Eurobricks
  7. Well.. I personally wouldn't mix them all into my spare parts collection. UCS sets are far to valueable as sets to mix them in. If I wanted parts, I'd sell the set and buy twice as many parts. Or keep it and buy parts, Which is what I tend to do I've had the unfortunate 'pleasure' Of rebuilding a lot of my UCS sets. During the Earthquakes, my Lego collection got munted a few times. I've rebuilt the UCS Darth Maul 3 times (He falls over every aftershock - He's still in parts ATM, Just because I can't be bothered ) , The death Star II, the UCS Yoda, the UCS AT-ST, the UCS Vaders Tie, the UCS X-wing, UCS Y-wing.. Plus heaps of system sets. Those took a long time to sort and rebuild.. I wouldn't suggest doing it on purpose
  8. Yep, looked likes they've just skyrocketed their postage prices.. just as a few good sets are in stock Ah well, I wonder where's next for the bargains..
  9. Has anyone noticed any sets availible from Amazon.es? I haven't noticed one yet.. The majority of my purchases recently have been with Amazon.it, with the exeption of the tower bridge from Amazon.Fr, Just because I was scared and didn't want to miss out on it. Really kicking myself for not picking one up a couple of months ago dirt cheap, but ah well. At least it was still under RRP, Unlike the Taj mahal I just bought for a rather high price. Really should have picked that one up when it was out 20% off. We live and learn, I won't be making that mistake again
  10. I'd say do it. Both bricklink and sold Items on trademe would suggest your pricing is about right, and $35 is the higher end of what they'd sell for, so I personally would add it. But then there's no harm in not either, if you wnat to take the gamble. Worst case scenario you don't make $5 you could have. Up to you man
  11. Good to have you back mate, Hope you've had a great holiday. Shot for adding the link to your sig, We want as much exposure as possible I've spent way to much in the last week, I Should hold off a bit for a couple of months now, then I'll be looking out for a 3450 Statue of Liberty
  12. With most of the free time I've had these holidays I've spent sorting parts, Having decided to re-sort my entire collection into drawers. I'm absolutely stoked with how it's going, But I agree sorting in itself is not my favourite part the process Most of the time I'll just sit down when I've got a lot on my mind, put some music on lightly in the backround and grab a few containers of parts to sort. It's quite nice (IMO) when your brain is running, as sorting takes very little brain power - Admittedly this only works when your home alone (Or at least have a room to yourself), as others tend to be distracting (Which really annoys me when I'm sorting - It makes it drag on longer, it feels) Good luck with getting your sorting done, Hopefully you find a way that works for you
  13. Here's a link to registration: Rego Page This is a very serious problem, I suggest using a debit-plus rather than Visa
  14. Hey all, Just thought I’d let you all know, The Kiwibricks website is up and running, which is really exciting! A massive thanks to Brickthing (the amount of effort he's gone to for this site is huge!) and a couple of others, it's all go! Obviously we're not expecting anyone to stop using Eurobricks, that would be just silly. It's for those of us that are keen be involved in the NZ Lego community, and be part of NZ events and LUG's, it'll be a great place to meet fellow Kiwi's, and do trades and talk deals and stuff (Like this thread). It's still semi-under construction, but it's already a fantastic site! I'm sure Brickthing will have more to say in the coming days and weeks, but it'll be great to see you guys over there (Similar usernames would be good, as Members currently need to be admin approved to avoid spam)
  15. I so know what you mean ..Unfortunately I've stopped using Amazon.fr because of the high postage, but still keep an eye on it every now and then. I haven't found anything (Well, that I'd buy anyway) on Amazon.es, but have had slightly better luck with Amazon.it, Though a lot of newer stuff still won't ship here. There's still good deals to be had on all the Amazon sites, but it depends on just how good you want the deal to be before you place the order. But things do tend to sell out pretty quick, It seems the Emerald Night, Shuttle Exhibition, Imperial Flagship and Grand Emporium have all now sold out. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep it in mind Oh stop taunting me So true though. That's my current plan, I think. If I can't get one 20% off at toyworld or something, I'll do that. It'll hopefully stay there as a last resort
  16. Ah, good move I wish I'd got one from Amazon.fr before Christmas, but didn't. I'm watching one on TM at $380, but that still seems far too much, well over $100 more than Amazon had it for
  17. I'm not sure this is an official one. The guy I'm getting it from said some parts were glued, others not. I'll see when I get it, then we'll see how it goes
  18. Sorry to dig up an old topic, But I didn't feel this deserved its own seperate thread, as it's along similar lines.. We have a group that's kind-of forming a LUG/FOL group, and I was just wondering what the requirements are for a LUG to be 'recognised'. I recall something about a certain number of MOC's at planned/official events, a website, and minimum age. Are these right, and is there anyone who could enlighten me on this? Cheers Sam
  19. I found this on a local auction site I think it might custom (?), but none less less, for the price I paid, I'm still happy. I'll scrap it for parts and use it for something else
  20. Today: 2x POTC The Mill 2x Heroica Fortaan 2x POTC Cannibal Escape And couple of days ago I ordered 10231 Shuttle Expedition
  21. Phew Today I gave in and bought up some sets at K-mart. I got 2 of Each of POTC The Mill, POTC Cannibal Escape, and Heroica Fortaan. Pretty happy with the loot, for $236 (RRP would be $440) Will definately be getting more POTC if they get any cheaper
  22. 64x64 Baseplates Please tell me thats a mistake Hmm, Might have to have a look.. I like the sound of those prices
  23. G'day! Always great to have another kiwi on board, And it's great you seem to be up to speed so fast Yeah, Fishpond is definately known.. Quite a few people aren't fans of them (Myself included) Because they often cancel orders and have insane pricing (Advertising RRP being double what it actually is, then putting the set 60% off kinda thing). But feel free to give it a go, I'm sure there's still bargains to be had Indeed City of atlantis came out most places mid last year and got clearanced.. I got one for parts for $70 at toyworld late last year. Haven't seen them around for a while, I'm guessing they're sold out As for why we get quite random waves of D2C sets - That's just the way Lego NZ does it... I'm actually looking for Tower Bridge at the moment (Decided to collect the landmarks..) - I'm kicking myself for not getting one for $240 a month ago from Amazon. Ah well, It's not like they're retired yet. On that note, I don't suppose anyone here has a 3450 Statue of Liberty or 10189 Taj Mahal they'd consider selling or trading? I'm very intrested Cheers for the heads up
  24. I've also recently decided to collect the large scale buildings/landmarks, because for some reason I just love them. I was lucky enough to pick up an Eiffel tower back when it was in shops and even got 20% off I believe. I should have picked up the Taj Mahal back when it was out, But I'm still hoping to find one somewhere at a good price. I should have picked up a tower bridge a few weeks ago when they were cheap on Amazon.fr, But unfortunately I didn't then either. Though that one probably still has a year or 2 on shelves hopefully. As for 3450 Statue of Liberty, that one is indeed a pain.. And I am wondering wether they will consider re-designing/releasing it as part of the newer line (10181, 10189, 10214), but I'm not sure. I'm finding THIS rather intresting... It goes for a killing at the moment.. Plus I'd need to build a stand. I definately don't see 10181 being re-released yet though. Though, You can definately get 3450 and 10181 for less than $6000, easy. But they're definately expencive Good luck with Saving and hunting!
  25. Sheesh, I don't want to think.. About $1200 in SW sets plus mabye a few other sets Around $1800 in Parts from Various themes/Bricklink for parts So that woould be about $3000. However, Since I buy and sell Lego for some money on the side, I have spent a total of about $18,000, And in total my hobby has made me a couple of thousand Thats what we like, a hobby that pays for itself
