  1. Thank you! I thought you had done the same joke, but I wasn't sure. Oh, well, I used my take on it anyway. The Blacktron suit worked rather well. It just took me a while to finally make it, even though I'd had the joke in mind for ages. The AAA funny also serves as a wishlist. LEGO fans are still waiting for Black Canary and Hawkgirl! I've got a great joke up my sleeve, though it'll take the release of some summer sets to be able to make it happen. Until then, I'll keep thinking.
  2. In that case, it's clear. AntiMatter, formerly an Agent, is talking about the potential he sees in the transformed Brainstein, who he used to be friends with during his days on the team.
  3. Thanks! I knew there was a good use for those angry faces! Here are a couple more I came up with:
  4. Okay, after way too long, I finally restored several photos to the image hosting site I put them on. I had deleted them to make space while forgetting that doing so removed the images from Eurobricks. I apologize to anyone who tried to read this topic during the downtime.
  5. I see the Studios scientist as Frankenstein and Jekyll combined, since he has a wolfish Hyde transformation. The MF and CMF scientists both seem like Frankenstein as well, but the cartoonish one seems too wacky and zany to be properly based on Frankenstein. He's just another cartoonish big-brained scientist with really strong goggle lenses.
  6. All right, I remembered the joke I was going to use. Based on your recent batch, Oky, I think you're going to like the second one! To be honest, I only put all of the League there because I wanted a picture with the whole group. Originally, it was just going to be Bats and WW reacting to the Flash, but having the entire group made the scene funnier (and more believable).
  7. That last one brings to mind a funny I've been considering...(darn it, now I can't remember the joke I was going to use.)
  8. I just realized that the Hammerhead Warrior minifigure makes for a good approximation of King Shark (when he's drawn as a hammerhead, that is). And the regular Shark Warrior works for when he's drawn as a great white! If anyone wanted a purist version, it'll work. A bigfig version would be great someday, though.
  9. I see the reasoning, but not all mad scientists with Karloff monsters are based directly on the character of Victor Frankenstein. It's almost expected for any mad scientist, regardless of medium or character to have a monster resembling or referencing the Universal depiction. This scientist is far more goofy and cartoonish than any other LEGO has made (for me, the real Frankenstein is the MF Scientist), and so is the monster. Who knows, he may not even be responsible for creating the rocker monster. (Humorously, the image results for "mad scientist with monster turned up a picture with the previous LEGO scientists and monsters). I hate to continue with this, though. It's clear our opinions are vastly different. I completely understand why you don't like these minifigures, and I don't particularly care for a few, either. It's helpful to consider both sides, though, regardless of your position. I won't stop you from thinking anything that you do. You're allowed to hate the series. But please don't voice concern about how some people think this is good, however, because some people do like these. It's going to happen, it'll sell, and then it'll be gone. During its shelf life, we'll have Series 15 to talk about, too! I hope I haven't been rude, and I want to end this opinion war on good terms.
  10. Wait, so every mad scientist is automatically supposed to be Victor Frankenstein? Now that's just an assumption. This scientist is clearly based on more cartoonish ones with the visual cue of a huge brain meaning intelligence. This is true. In fact, none of our monsters are the way they started. Witches used to be mystical hermit women with bizarre herbs and medicines that people equated to Satanic magic. Nowadays, they're green-skinned ladies with warts, hooked noses, few teeth, floppy pointed hats, cauldrons, and broomsticks. The Halloween depictions take it further, with the characteristic stripy stockings. Vampires were originally more like zombies, living dead who were relatively harmless. I could list more, but suffice it to say that the monsters we know now are already far-removed from their origins, so complaining about ruining a Universal monster is justified but a bit silly. Seriously, though, he's the one figure that's challenging my desire to collect all of the monsters in this series.
  11. It's not quite close enough. The Moat Monster has zero lavender on it, while this one has a lavender head, belly, and hands. The box also labels it as "Swamp Monster", while the vampire's name is from the cartoon, as "Dracula", so we can assume the names refer to the specific monsters. Since the Lighthouse Keeper is not described as "Creepy", it might be another version.
  12. And if we're talking about all LEGO figs, the female vampire doesn't count. (pun completely unintentional) But for the CMFs, yes she's new, and I've wanted one for a while, even before the Monster Fighters theme and its vampiress. I do hope we get some all-new monsters like an Igor, Bride of Frankenstein, or Phantom of the Opera. If we have a Jekyll/Hyde character, why not those other monsters? Unfortunately, the "Halloween" theme seems like it's going for classic holiday spooks, so a Phantom seems less likely.
  13. I think the Javelin is the best ship I've built in a while. It feels great in-hand, the angles are good, and it packs in some fun and smooth play features. The figs and Darkseid are just a bonus.
  14. I guess I see your point...argh. My head is hurting by now. I don't even know what I'm arguing for anymore. Some people like this series, some don't, but no one should try to stop someone from enjoying or force the detractors to like it. I guess that's what I was trying to say back when I understood everything going on here. I guess this is the most divisive series yet, but the arguments are turning into the most confusing, what with generalizations, and complete lack of understanding how x does/does not like them, and how fans and nonfans see groups of similar characters...? I'm hoping for the factory to leak some more pics to have something more basic to discuss by now.
  15. Those weren't my opinions, I was trying (and obviously not solidly enough) to voice the other sides' complaints. I agree that they are that grey area of unique to those who like them and redundant to those who don't. I will gladly take more ancient warriors and monsters, but a previous post compared the two somewhat inaccurately, since the warriors are not all the same character repeated.
  16. That poses an interesting but depressing point. Although I think it's unfair to use the ancient army builders, because fundamentally, they're not the same concepts. I think the complaints are coming, not because the figs are redesigns of previous characters, but because they're the fourth or fifth versions of monster characters we've gotten versions of before. If these were the second versions of the monsters, no complaints. But the CMFs before, Studios, Monster Fighters, and Scooby-Doo have made these seem redundant, no matter how different they look. Here, we're getting a boatload of counterparts, but everyone's calling them rehashes based on the fact that the same concepts were used for the 4th/5th time. But if these were spaced out across series 14-20 or something, there would be fewer complaints, and everyone would call them neat little takes on previous characters. They're all in one series, though, and that attracts more dislike than separate figs.
  17. But the Harry Potter witches were hardly fairytale/Halloween witches. So they don't really count. I see your point, but I disagree. Some people love monsters (I'm guilty) and would love more of them (possibly to populate a huge monster party). And as I've said before, these ones are sufficiently different from previous monster minifigures of the same types, so putting them all together (CMF S1-12, MF, Studios, Scooby, and CMF S14) wouldn't look like a group of clones. In fact, the monster minifigures that come closest to being true rehashes of previous ones are the MF ones! From behind, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the S2 Vampire and Lord Vampyre. I understand, the repeated concepts can be a turnoff, but most of the S14 figs we've seen bear little resemblance to the previous CMF monsters, the MF monsters, and the Scooby-Doo monsters, which I think is an achievement considering how many monsters we have by now. I think I have the basic arguments here. Perhaps this will clarify the opinions on both sides and prevent any "I can't see why X likes/dislikes the series!" remarks.: So why people would want these? 1. Because these monsters look different enough from previous ones and add diversity to the monster archetypes they've done before. 2. The consumer of S14 has missed out on previous monster minfigures, and this series offers a second chance to get a witch or zombie (for example). 3. Because the series contains humorous monsterized characters from previous series. Why not? 1. The series is themed and alientates fans of other themes or the assorted series. 2. The characters seem unoriginal and retread on characters done too many times before. 3. The designs themselves are too lighthearted or unappealing compared to previous versions.
  18. While I agree we're at an awkward point in time with the new sets being old news and getting no new news, but there's absolutely nothing saying the winter wave is off-topic. I think the set is good, too. But recently, we've been speculating for lack of anything new to talk about.
  19. I agree. But with the regular diverse series, we've gotten quite a few repeats or "rehashes", so complaining about it here isn't quite fair. We've had several skaters and aliens, for one. And then there are the Dummies, Fitness Instructors, etc. I think the level of complaints here is only because there is such a large amount of repeat characters here instead of one or two per series. But again, I wouldn't be so enthused about a Pirates or Western series, so I understand how the theme makes people unhappy, too. I think it's just an opportune time to release a Halloween series, since another spooky theme will be on the market at the same time before Halloween.
  20. Really? I think Boromir's would be much worse than either of her hairpieces. (Ironic as it is, Natasha does not have a widow's peak.) The new piece is really quite accurate, albeit a bit smoother than the movie.
  21. Black Widow is the best and most improved, most of the others are great, too. I can't say a "worst", but I do like the HYDRA figs less due to being uninteresting.
  22. That's why I can't support the completionist attitude, because when you're compulsed to buy something you don't want, it just ends up being a waste of money. That's why I gave up on completing series long ago; I couldn't justify completing series when I didn't like some of the figures. It clearly has yellow eyes. No need to worry.
  23. That's a good point, but several complaints were made, begging LEGO to cancel the series even though it's obviously not going to happen.
  24. I agree. I understand that the series has been rather unpopular for various reasons (unoriginality, theming, being numbered, theming, unoriginality), but the constant venting has gotten old quickly. I am not innocent of that, though, and I want to apologize for "white-knighting" the series, as I may have come off as pushy and overly defensive in my enthusiastic support for the series. I shouldn't try to make people see things the way I do. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but once the opinions are known, it admittedly gets grating to hear them again. But is there anything else to discuss other than the reactions? I suppose it'll be a long while until we see the rest, but is there more to talk about? That's the problem. Besides guessing games and comments on how you feel about the series, there's not much left. (And to the detractors, I will give them the "rocker monster" argument. I mostly want it for the stitched brow, otherwise it's a lame concept, even if it does try to reference "Monster Mash".)
  25. Not everyone will have the same opinion. Some people can't quite understand the level of hatred the series is getting, either. As for what to do? Speak with your wallet and don't buy the figs if you don't want them. I will avoid the Simpsons Series 2, but I'm sure there are enough people excited for it and looking forward to buying some.
