BrickWarriors Battle Packs at Five Below
LibraryBoy replied to LibraryBoy's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
This is all kinds of awesome, Thrash, and I have to say that the cowboy, dragon winged warrior, and space marine-ish packs went over very well with both the kiddo and myself and we both want to go out and get more now. I hope this works out really well for you guys and that these become a regular fixture at the store! -
BrickWarriors Battle Packs at Five Below
LibraryBoy posted a topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
As I was leaving my local Five Below today I saw what I thought at first was a box of Lego Collectable Minifigures, and then I thought they were some other company's bagged imitations, but it turns out they were BrickWarriors Warrior Packs of weapons and accessories, and for only $2.99 apiece. Picked up a few for me and the kiddo... two with some sort of dragon winged armor (because we'd both want that), a cowboy pack, and a Halo-esque assortment of gear. Excited to crack these open tonight, and I hope they'll have more when I'm able to go back! -
Thanks! I added a bunch more a few weeks ago, I should really take some more pictures. Still not satisfied with my crowd arrangement, though.

Even if I wasn't interested in the movie I'd want pretty much every figure from this line for the unique parts alone. I might as well just sign my paycheck over to TLG right now and save everyone the time. And an Abe Lincoln to go with George Washington and my custom Theodore Roosevelt? Outstanding. I'm one minifigure shy of my own tiny Mount Rushmore!

I had that same problem and it was stuck for months! Finally I somehow managed to get it off with a brick separator... I really wish I could remember exactly what I did differently that time as opposed to all of the hundred or so other attempts that didn't work, but I can't. Once it did pop off, though, I snipped the "chin bar" off and filed down the edges that were left. It doesn't get stuck anymore, you can actually see Wolvie's mouth when the mask is on, and it looks more like the version seen in the Lego Marvel video game and on the variant Wolverine #1 cover parody that ran a month or so ago.

@kermit - Yeah, the Dalek's head dome was one of the buzz droid's pieces from a Star Wars set... from one of the various Jedi Starfighter kits, IIRC, but I can't remember which one.

I picked up the A-Wing fighter and the Sith Trooper/Republic Trooper army builder set over the weekend (the latter because it was on sale at The Lego Store). Haven't bought a Star Wars set in a really long time, but I liked both of these. I thought the A-Wing was a particularly fun build that managed to really resemble its movie counterpart, and Han and the Admiral were nice bonuses beside. Now I'm thinking of getting the Desert Skiff set... another good build (I already helped my son assemble his after his birthday a few months back), and a good assortment of minifigs.

Thanks for the kind words, folks! I see such amazing work posted around these parts that actually posting my own stuff is kind of intimidating! @WaysofSorting - That's a good idea about the decal extending over the shoulders and to the back. I may have to try that sometime if/when I update this. @TheStrategist - It bugged me at first, but it has grown on me ever since.

Started off the other night making these for something to do: And then of course I had to add to it: Pretty simple MOC, but I'm still pretty new to the whole AFOL scene and I was psyched to be able to put all this together without having to run to BrickLink or Shop@Home. The Dalek and K9 are based on designs I saw online but modified a bit based on looks and, of course, what I had on hand (it was so frustrating to not find a dome piece that was a solid dark gray!). The Doctor is cannibalized from a bunch of Hobbit and Harry Potter guys and a bad-but-I-hope-it-just-looks-like-its-wavy scarf decal. And it really should be white roundels on a light gray wall but I didn't like the look of that as much. I one day want to go back to this and try and figure a way to make the roundels look recessed into the wall, but for my first go at it I'm happy with the result.

Here's my (mostly purist) custom for WWE superstar CM Punk: Not enough tattooed minifig parts out there to get him in his ring gear, but I'm happy with how this turned out. The only non-purist part was doing the X's on his hands in Sharpie. It's clobberin' time!

Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
LibraryBoy replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've seen them in Targets here Rhode Island pretty consistently since about August 30th or so. -
Ditto on the love for Adventure Time... just imagine how many weird-but-awesome sets they could get out of that license! Just getting Finn & Jake's treehouse alone would be pretty rad.
-
Yes! I remember seeing something on The Brick Blogger a while back about an artist who did a lot of production work for Lego and samples of his recent work included various logo designs for a Mythology theme, but there was no indication as to if that was something that was in the pipeline, a proposal, or just something he did for fun. That'd be awesome, though... I'd love a nice big set of, say, the Argo.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
LibraryBoy replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Series 11 hit local Targets last weekend (a few days early, yes?) and I managed to stumble across some pretty well-stocked displays, so I've been able to find pretty much all the ones I've been looking for already. Picked up the Yeti, the barbarian, the saxophone player, the scientist, and the pretzel girl (took some real hunting to find her... even more than the sax player). Mostly did the "feel for the accessories" method, but I looked up the bump code for pretzel girl since that pretzel is pretty hard to feel for if it gets stuck on the stand. I still want to go back for the constable, maybe the evil mech, and maybe the female robot. -
These are outstanding. Really looking forward to seeing Davison, Troughton, and Pertwee!

Wow, this looks fantastic already. Can't wait to see the finished product. Brick on!

Excellent work! I have a lot of fond memories of that movie from when I was a kid (weird as it was... especially that ending!). I don't think about it often, but I always enjoy it when I do. Any chance you'll be making anything else. the Palomino, or one of the robots (you know you want to make Maximillian!)?

I've looked around at the various Lego rope options and nothing really has the look I'm after. I think craft store jewely cord might be closer to what I want. I may pick some up soon. Finally ordered a bunch of guardrail/barrier pieces for ringside from BrickLink. Looking forward to getting that set up soon!

I want to have chairs for these guys so badly! Does anyone (official or otherwise) make minifig-scale folding chairs? Regular Lego chairs would just look kinda weird. I definitely want to replace the ropes somewhere down the line, but I wanted to have something in there as I was building it and ribbon from the wife's craft table was the best of what I had access to then-and-there. I was actually going for Howard Finkel, but yeah, I can definitely see how he could be a Cole stand-in, too. Yours lives up to your screen name, AwesomeTaylor! I like how you used the long thin bricks for the ropes and I especially like the entrance area and the way you worked the ring apron logo into the construction itself. Thanks for all the compliments, folks. I see some of the amazing work people around here are posting and it's pretty intimidating, so the support is very much appreciated. And keep those suggestions coming!

Still very much a newb to the whole AFOL thing, but I wanted to have a go at my first MOC, a wrestling ring. It's still very much a work in progress - I want to fix the announce table, replace the ropes, add some guard rails for the first row fans to stand behind and an entrance ramp area, maybe even a proper ring apron if I get ambitious enough - but I like what little I have so far. Feedback / suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
LibraryBoy replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow, the TRU price is the same as the Lego Shop @ Home price? Never thought I'd see the day. Not sure when just yet, but this will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. -
BrickWarriors - New Fantasy Accessories!
LibraryBoy replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Oh man, so many people are going to set up displays with those anvils dropped on Fabuland or Chima figures. At least that's what I'd do, because anvils and anthropomorphic animals just go together. But bear in mind I watch a lot of cartoons. And that steampunk rifle is all kinds of awesome. I will definitely have to get a few of those. -
Recommended Printer for Decals?
LibraryBoy replied to BrickG's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I've just used the inkjet I have at home. Colors aren't as bright as I'd like (even with new cartridges) but good enough for at-home display. But if I had access to nice, crisp laser-printing for decals, I'd do that in a second. -
ReZourceman, excellent job on the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially Rocket, Star Lord, and Gamora. Where did G's head come from? Oky, that Stan Lee is amazing. Whose torso is that? Excelsior!
