Based on your posts, I made the list of our welthiest citizens so far: (member - total value in gold) Stash2Sixx - 23360 Commodore Hornbricker - 15470 Legokilt - 4620 Brig. Brick - 3450 Fluyt - 2980 Thee Pirate - 2300 Blackheart Brit - ~2000 Dennimator - 1980 hurdy-gurdy pirate - 1870 Captain Blackmoor - 1010 Ryan_T - 910 ImperialScouts - 860 Admiral Croissant - 770 Quarryman - 700 Legorski - ~600 phantom6700 - 600 Captain Becker - 320 lisqr - 200 Everyone who posted their sum is on the list, except prof1515 who's been banned. Congratulations Stash2Sixx! You will soon be blogged as our welthiest member so far. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] Everyone please keep in mind that olny gold coins were taken into account, as their value can be easily added up. We don't know the exchange rate of jewels and crystals (perhaps we should create one?). The list is of course open so everyone feel free to share your own sum with us, or update your previous sum if you've become richer or (hopefully not) poorer. I for one must finally collect all my coins and count them.

I like this one a lot. The sails are very cleverly done. The barrels filled with goods are great! My only complaint is the lack of ship's wheel. My other complaint, not concerning the MOC itself - you should REALLY resize those images! They're WAY too big!

Poll: Which LEGO Sharks would you like to see in future Pirate Sets?
Dreamweb replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
A mixture of both. Old sharks are classic and I will never have enough of them. The new sharks are OK too, in their design they look dangerously close to Duplo, but they're passable. If they were to introduce something new though, I'd love to see a shark as big as the new one, but with the old design (in other words, old shark but bigger) - that would be a real beast! -
I want to show you a brick film which I made recently. It is a trailer for my Lego pirate comic series called "Kings & Queens Of The Sea". It also advertises the new website made specifically for my comic, which can be found here. The thread about the comic itself can be found here. Please note that it wasn't my intention to make double threads - that thread is about the comic, but I also wanted to make a thread about the film itself and put it outside the Pirate forum - so here it is. However if a MOD decides that this thread is unnecessary, feel free to close it. Anyway, here's the trailer: It's a slideshow of sorts of some frames from my comic (minus the dialogues). The music is also mine - I made it many years ago on my old Amiga computer and now decided to use it as the series' main theme. I'm planning on making a better recording some time in the future, this time with real instruments, but I really wanted to use the old version for now - it may not sound that professional but I just feel nostalgic for it. Feel free to post your comments!

[COMIC] "Kings And Queens Of The Sea" - Episodes
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in Pirate MOCs
Finally, two and a half years after my comic series premiered, I made an official website for it: http://piratecomic.hitart.com The website is still under construction, but all the most important features are there, including all episodes released so far. I've also added a large section called LIBRARY when you can find trivia and information about episodes, characters, ships and so on. I hope to expand it in the future to cover all kinds of stuff featured in the comic. Please note that this site may not be very fancy-looking, but creating websites is not something I do very often or am very good at. Besides, I'm still working on it... Anyway, feel free to visit it! That's not all. I've also made a short movie - it's both a trailer of sorts for the comic series, and an advertisement of the new website. Thanks to Classic-Pirates.com crew for allowing me to upload it to our official YouTube channel! I made a separate thread about the film itself in Brick Flicks & Comics forum, you may read it HERE. Any comments are welcome! -
Definitely a MOC... Five masts... 67 cannons... This seriously must've cost this guy a fortune. Looks great, although if I were picky, I'd say the stern part looks much too massive. Perhaps it would look more proportional with more sails, or bigger sails (in this case they'd have to be customs).
-
That's a great-looking ship! I like the sails a lot. I found a better picture of the ship in your folder: Do you have any more pictures of the ship itself, so that we could see it in more detail? Anyway, this MOC deserves to be frontpaged on Classic-Pirates.com, expect it there soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

I read all the episodes and I must say they're great! I like the dark tone of the story. It reminds me of Stephen King's "The Stand" among other things. I'll be waiting for future episodes! And BTW it's sort of funny that you already know there's gonna be 38 parts, have you planned each of them in advance?

[COMIC] "Kings And Queens Of The Sea" - Episodes
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in Pirate MOCs
The new episode has been public for a few days now, but I couldn't announce it yet due to some problems with internet connection. So here's Episode 27 - Laurantia Part 3. This Laurantia story arc has grown a little long I must admit, but I think it's worth it as I'm planning some really crazy ending to it, and I'm enjoying this less pirate-like and more castle-like interlude, but no worries, we'll get back to the main story and the crew of the Valour eventually! Hope you enjoy it! -
As you all should know, we occasionally pick up old MOCs that haven't been blogged on Classic-Pirates.com (usually because they are too old) but really deserve it. I think this is the case with this one so excuse me for bumping this thread and expect this wonderful MOC to be blogged soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

I'm definitely going to return there some time in the future, after all the work is done and people can admire the fortress in its full glory. I had no idea the site would be undergoing renovation and I must admit I was a bit disappointed, but of course I'm aware that such things have to be done, considering how many times the fortress has been under attack (the last time was during World War II) and how old it is. So I may be back with better pictures one day!

My first ever bag-built set, 7955: (the two 1x1 transparent plates in bottom-left corner are extra pieces) It was small but still fun to build...

During this year's holiday, I visited some places I think might be of interest to some fans of LEGO Pirates. I wish to show some of them to you, one place at a time. The first thing I wish to show you is the Vistula Mouth Fortress (in Polish - Twierdza Wisloujscie), located in Gdansk (or Danzig), Poland. General view of the fortress: The fortress was built in 1482 and has undergone numerous attacks throughout its history, hence its various parts were frequently rebuilt, resulting in the current mixture of styles, materials and building techniques from different centuries. The central tower served as a lighthouse until 1758. The fortress' function was to protect the sea port in Gdansk as well as to control the traffic on Vistula river, including collecting toll from the passing ships and so on. The fortress was attacked in 1577 by Polish king Stefan Batory during the Danzig rebellion, it served as a backup for Polish ships during the Polish-Swedish Battle of Oliva, was attacked by Russians and Saxons during the War of the Polish Succession, by Prussians in 1793 and in 1814 and by Napoleon in 1807. In the years 1622-1629 it served as a base for Polish fleet, in 1628 two ships stationed there were sunk during the attack of the Swedish artillery. The whole complex is surrounded by Vistula river from the western side and by the so called Eastern Sconce from all the other sides. The only way to enter the Eastern Sconce is by the drawbridge, which is now sadly only a reconstruction of the original bridge: Here we are in the Eastern Sconce, on the road leading to the fortress itself: And now we finally see the fortress: The road from the Eastern Sconce to the fortress leads through another bridge, seen below. So the fortress is a bit like an island within a bigger island (= the sconce). Here we are on the bridge, looking right... ...and left. We pass through a short tunnel to the courtyard. And we see the main part of the fortress. The fortress is currently being renovated, which sadly means that some of its parts were inaccessible during my trip. You may also occasionally see some tools, planks and that kind of stuff lying around on some of the pictures below. The houses which form a circle around the tower is where the officers used to live. Here's the inside of one of such houses, showing what was once officer's quarters. At some point in the fortress' history, they were even allowed to live there with their families. Outside of the cetral ring of officers' houses, we see barracks where low rank soldiers lived. At least they had Carlsberg beer: Wait, some of the soldiers are still here: Entering the barracks (no, this guy isn't me, I'm the one with the camera ): The inside of the barracks. The soldiers slept on the floor, on hay, next to each other. No one cared too much about hygiene during those days, and lice and diseases were not uncommon. It is said that the safest place to sleep was next to a soldier with a venereal disease - at least he couldn't infect you. Or could he? I wonder what this guy caught: Now we're going back to the central structure: We see a portal with a coat of arms above it: An entrance to a postern, sadly currently inaccessible for viewing due to renovation: The inside of yet another chamber in the central structure. The rails were mounted in the 19th century, for easier transport of ammunition which was stored somewhere inside: On this picture you can see how thick the ceiling is: You can see the date 1586 over here: Outside of the chamber - this is where the cannons defending the fortress were stationed. Did I mention the renovation? And now the very central part with the tower. Unfortunately, because of the renovation the tower is currently off-limits, so just a few pictures taken from the outside of it: You can see gunports on the upper level of the circular structure: That's it. I hope you enjoyed it. Now all we have to do is MOC it.

I used to have one too. I liked it a lot, and a girl who is my co-worker still has that model. Right now I have a Sony Ericsson C702: Generally I don't pay that much attention to mobile phones, I have one because it makes life easier, but I usually receive calls rahter than make them. And I hardly ever use any of the advanced functions. I play games sometimes and that's about it. I'm nowhere close to the level of mobile-phone addiction I notice at some of my friends.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Dreamweb replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'm no MOD or anything but my humble opinion is that POTC LEGO should be discussed in Pirates subforum (and as I see many others agree with me on that). LEGO Star Wars isn't discussed in licensed themes either, it has its own subforum because of the large fanbase. I can't see why a similar exception couldn't be made with POTC - only this time by mingling it with classic pirate stuff. I think we might see some MOCs from our users mixing POTC and classic pirates anyway, I for one would love to see a 'Jack Sparrow vs Captain Red Beard' MOC, with Sparrow dying a terrible death. Perhaps one day I'll make it myself. -

Dreamweb replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
They HAD. But it expired AFAIK. That's no problem. Look at the example of Spider-Man. Lego had the license and produced sets for the first two movies. For part 3, Megabloks took over the license and made their own sets: So I see no reason why the same (only in reversed order) cannot be done with POTC. -

Dreamweb replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yes, I understand. However, it's really hard to tell how much time it will take between discontinuing POTC and releasing new non-licensed Pirates. Somehow I doubt that the LEGO Group will do it immediately after POTC theme ends - they might be afraid some customers might get confused. I think there will have to be a break between POTC and classic-like pirates, that is if they return to non-licensed pirates at all. But as I stated earlier, it's too early to speculate, as we don't even have POTC sets yet. -

Dreamweb replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think what Cpt. Dan meant was not the end of our beloved website, but rather the end of classic Pirate sets, the sets with more classic feel which will be replaced by POTC sets which will be similar in some manner, yet with a different feel (flesh instead of yellow to begin with). I think it's possible that POTC will be introduced and then last for 1 - 2 years, but what happens next? More "neutral" (non-licensed) pirates? Somehow I don't think so - they already did that in 2009. Oh well, let's not look that far into the future, for now I'm just happy there's a chance we will see more pirate sets, well, with a POTC logo of course, but still from a pirate universe... -

Someone mentioned the lack of new bluecoats/redcoats - I'm no expert in POTC, I've only seen the first one and I'm pretty sure there were some soldiers in uniforms running around. So we may actually get a yet another kind of army to build. -

Yeah, the price might also be an issue here... Since licensed sets are usually more expensive, they'd have to make them really good it they want me to buy them. What I hope for the most are some new cool torsos, hairpieces, hats and accesories (weapons etc.) that will blend nicely with the classic pirate stuff we all love. And a new ship about the size of Brickbeard's Bounty would be highly appreciated! -

Dreamweb replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
It is now frontpaged on Classic-Pirates.com To be honest, I don't like POTC that much. Still, having this theme around would be better than having no pirates at all. If the sets are good, I'll probably buy some of them. But I'll replace all the fleshie minifig parts with some classic pirate faces and turn these guys into my own kind of pirates. The movie aspect of the possible sets is something I'm not interested in TBH. -

If this is true, I'm not surprised at all. I knew this was gonna happen when they got Disney license and discontinued Pirates - when this happened, I was like "OK, so they're making room for POTC"... PS. I think it deserves being blogged... [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] You'll find it there soon... -
Very nice group picture! If I were picky though, I'd have to say the Imperial Trading Post's ship is missing. But that was not a standalone set and one may also argue it's a boat rather than a ship. Also, perhaps placing them in order of release would be a good idea, it would allow us to better observe their evolution. Still, I thinks this deserves to be posted in our blog. Expect it there soon!
